We have been to Nederburg Wines for a chilled out Afternoon and the total disrespect by the people setting up for the next day show. We came for the singing by the artist and it was taken over by the group setting up for the next day. The manager was totally useless as he did not even assist.

We visited Nederberg for breakfast but ended up taking the opportunity to do the coffee and wine pairing. Ivhan took the time to talk us through coffees, wine and shared his extensive knowledge of the wines and the history. The breakfast was also lovely, thank you all for a lovely morning!

I can’t rave about Nederburg enough! We have been visiting for years, always dropping in for a wine and cheese pairing. Our last visit had been 2016 so we were astonished at the growth and new grounds in 2022! It was beautiful. We had a tasting and snacks and then spent time on the playground with our 4 year old. It’s a perfect place to spend hours with friends with your children close by on a playground with large playground equipment. We will definitely be back when we visit South Africa again and will spend more time on the grounds this time.

Great service from the very warm welcome by Reagan. Very informative on the wines and a beautiful lunch and coffee afterward. Wines were excellent from the Sauvignon Blanc to the Pinotage. Highly recommend a visit here.

We stopped in for lunch and really glad we did. It is August so mid winter and very quiet. However the food was excellent and great value. We had a glass of Rose’ which was delicious. We had to buy a case to take with us! Also some lovely gifts to take away as well, which was unexpected. Well worth a visit

Visited with family for a Sunday lunch. Service was professional and welcoming and very attentive. Food was enjoyable, we ordered the line fish and lamb shanks for mains. No negative comments on the mains. Deserts ordered included the pumpkin cookie, very positive feedback, cheesecake also very enjoyable. But the tapioca was average, we expected a warm dish but the dish lacked flavour. We will be back soon.

Zero Star Rating!
What an utterly horrible experience we’ve had at The Manor Restaurant at Nederburg Wine Estate on Easter Day, 17 April 2022.
We were a party of 13, consisting of 11 adults and 2 children. Four of the adults were pensioners which included my 87-year-old grandmother. As we live in Gauteng, we had made the reservation on 14 March 2022, as it was going to be the first Easter that we would spend together as a family in 2 years, due to the pandemic, and we wanted to ensure our booking. We had been to this restaurant once before during the latter part of 2021 and had an enjoyable experience then.
Immediately following our booking, on 14 March, we were advised via email by Ivhan (with Jerry and Arie, the managers, copied in on the mail) that, as we were such a big party we would not be able to order from the a la Carte menu, but rather from a set menu instead. We were fine with this, as we’ve had set menus at multiple places in the past.
They sent us 5 menu options: 1 with 3 basic main options; 1 with four mains; 1 with four mains and two desserts; 1 with canapés, four mains and two desserts and 1 with two starter options, four mains and two desserts. Note: The option for the mains was standard on 4 of the menus, which was line fish, braised lamb shank, tagliatelle and risotto.
We confirmed which menu we wanted, which was the starter, main and dessert option at R325 pp. My husband called Ivhan personally on Thursday 14 April to ensure that they had received our choice of menu and that everything was still fine. He confirmed that everything was perfect. My husband called again on Saturday, 16 April, to add one additional person to our party (then taking it to 13) and everything was still fine.
We arrived promptly for our 12pm Easter lunch reservation. And this is what happened:
1. After being seated our waitress proceeded to hand out standard menus and started rattling off the specials for the day. I interrupted her, telling her that we actually had a set menu. She asked to see it. I showed it to her on my phone, to which she responded “Oh, but we don’t have lamb shanks.” (As we had our set menus in advance, the entire party had already decided on their meal choices and 10 of the 11 adults wanted the lamb shank)
2. Ivhan, with whom my husband had been communicating with for over a month, then arrived at our table stating that there was only 3 lamb shanks available. We said that this was unacceptable. He said he would back.
3. He returned stating that there was only 3 lamb shanks available, but that we could have 2 free bottles of wine. We stated that we didn’t want free wine: we wanted the meal options which THEY had insisted we choose from. He stood there, dumbfounded. We asked him to get the manager.
4. Jerry (who has been cc’d in on all communication) arrived, immediately stating that there are only 3 lamb shanks left and that the alternative was beef shin. When we indicated that we would like the meal options which THEY had insisted we choose from, his response was akin to, “Well, we have beef shin now. Take it or leave it.” He disappeared after that never to be seen again. At that point we would have loved to get up and leave, but where was a party of 13 going to get a place at another restaurant on Easter Day without a prior booking? We reluctantly settled for the 3 lamb shanks and 8 beef shins.
5. Clearly the ploy from management, then, was to inebriate us. The waitress kept returning to our table with bottle after bottle of wine that we did not order. We kept sending her back until I explicitly told her to stop bringing us wine. If we wanted to do wine tasting we’d do so after the meal. We’d been there for over an hour already and we hadn’t eaten yet.
6. At around 13:10 our starter options arrived and she took our main orders.
7. The mains arrived at around 2:40pm - burnt beyond recognition. The 3 lamb shanks were so charred that the poor grandmothers couldn’t even cut through their meat. The beef shin alternative, which looked like kiddies meals with about one spoon of mash, was also burnt. The meat was tough and difficult to cut.
8. All meals were sent back, uneaten. And we told our waitress that we wouldn’t even bother with desserts.
Our first Easter Sunday together as a family had been completely ruined. After spending 3 hours there, we left hungry and angry. Management failed in every single aspect. We had done everything right - way in advance - trying to ensure a perfect day for everyone.
Jerry, I think you’d be surprised to know that people (of any colour) cannot be bought over and subdued with alcohol. Your disgusting efforts to silence us with free wine did not go unnoticed. Your attitude, service and management skills are appalling. You have left us bitterly disappointed.
We will never recommend The Manor Restaurant at Nederburg Wine Estates to anyone.

Hi
We would place a value of R150 – R200 for the bottle. The quality of the wine will depend how it was stored over the years. The recommendation is to enjoy now as this wine was not made with long-term maturation in mind.
