Having never visited them before I did not know what to expect, however I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. Arriving at the gate I was surprised by how busy it was, but then quickly realized that they have a wine tasting center as well as a restaurant, and it was over lunch time so both were very busy. As we were visiting for a wine tasting we went straight to the wine tasting center - at first we stood around a bit with no one helping us, however after I reached out to someone it only got better from there. The tasting center was very full, but we managed to get a table for our group of eight and started to deliberate on which of their tasting options to go for. They have a nice selection, but in the end some of our group decided to do the standard tasting and some did the sorbet and wine pairing. The sorbet and wine pairing comes with 6 pre-selected wines - those who did the pairing said that 90% of the pairings worked quite well. The pairing also looked very impressive. I was one of those who opted for the standard tasting that allows you to select a couple of their wines from their big selection. And when I say big selection, I mean it! There is definitely a wine for everyone here from sparkling wines, whites and roses, to reds, port style wines and even late harvest options. Their wines also fit into different price groups ranging from budget to premium. I was very impressed with their wines and the lady that did our tasting was friendly and welcoming. Good to note is they have a juice pairing to keep the kids entertained as well. As they are located close to the N1 on the way to Stellenbosch, they're easily accessible so give them a visit!

My worst visit to Koelenhof, your waiter you gave us, didn't show any interest, we booked a table two weeks ago, our table was not ready like the others...we could not choose our own wine, and all had to taste the same wine, the soup did not had any biltong pieces like previous...this was my last visit to you, as my guests were also very disappointed.!

We came for a chocolate and wine pairing bought via Hyperli, and ended up spending the whole afternoon in the garden, listening to live music.
We booked for 12pm, but because we wanted to eat first, we easily managed to change the time of our booking to make the pairing a dessert. The staff was very accommodating on that regards.
We went to the garden and had a cheese platter. We were hoping that the burger would be ready for us, but we had to wait for an hour to have one, so we just had the platter.
The chocolate pairing was nice after that... Good combination of flavors for the 5 different wines and truffles...
We were lucky on that day. It fell on the weekend when the farm organises a gig in the garden... Every last Saturday of the month from 2 to 5pm, there is lime music happening... A very nice way to spend your Saturday...

We bought a Hyperli voucher for a Chocolate and Wine pairing with a cellar tour included.
Making the reservation (required) wasn't as easy as one would expect, the staff member wasn't accommodating or friendly.
The actual pairing wasn't great, but not too bad either - hence the rating. They should definitely invest in some people skills with regards to staff though.

What a different.... Amazing wine pairing.... Sorbet and gelato with wine... Yummy... Definitely recommended and they do a kiddies wine juice pairing which they loved

Wine Pairing and Cellar Tour.
What an experience. Booked via Hyperli and received a small discount to the usual fee. We went on a Saturday and although they don't offer the cellar tour on weekends, they gave us a bottle of wine in lieu of it. Amazing! The sorbet and wine pairing was magnificent. The staff were professional and friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their wines and were great ambassadors for the brand. Definitely try the rooster brood. Went on out way with 4 bottles of wine which have already been consumed. Highly recommend it and we will be back for more.

I booked a picnic for my boyfriend and I a couple of weeks in advance. We arrived on time and were told to wait while they pack our basket. We were seated outside on the only bench, no choice of seating. Once we opened the basket, half of the content wasn't there (most importantly, the roosterkoeke were left out and we were left with a few dry crackers to have with the cheese), before I went in and asked for the missing content. We had 1 spoon and 1 knife to dish up all the different food and eat with. We were told that they were preparing for a wedding that's why everything is chaos. If I was told this in advance, I would have rescheduled. I will definitely try one of the other picnic options in and around the winelands for next time.

Cheerful welcome knowledgeable hostess she made the whole experience one to remember very generous and relaxed environment excellent wine at reasonable prices so had to go back for more

Stopped off on our way to Stellenbosch whilst travelling to our accommodation. Such a good idea, 3 of us had the regular wine tasting and 2 decided to pair with chocolates. Great experience, friendly and knowledgeable staff and when we bought 5 wines and a port to take away with us they refunded a lot of the tasting fee. Have to say I think this was my favourite tasting of our SA trip and so reasonably priced. Pinotage, coffee flavour, was a new one on me but that, the port and dessert wine were the highlights.

Sorbet, ice cream and wine; what is not to like. Sadly, not pairings that matched to my palate but we still enjoyed it and it was an experience I would recommend trying. They also do roosterkoek with nice accompaniments of jam, cheese, biltong spread or salam at very reasonable pricing. You may mix and match as you wish. There is also a soup and wine pairing. A nice venue with lovely people. Thank you.
