I used to love shopping at this antique store and bought several great items, but I won't be going back now that they charge admission. I understand it's hard to keep up such a large place, but how about just asking for donations instead, or providing a memento for the fee? Plus, a lot of the great items seem to have been removed for the excess amount of phonographs.

Sorry for misleading you about business name and catagory. We are having applied to change the business name for "Smitty's Antique Museum" and catagory for "Museum" to TripAdvisor many times but it is not.
We will try our best to serve you as a Best Local Museum / "Sounds of Music Museums" in US.
And also you could buy any items from entire museum and shop.
If you purchase $10 or more on antique and souvenir, we will reimburse you.
Thank you so much for your support!

We were so excited to visit. We missed the museum part which meant a $5.00 fee to enter. That is $10.00 for a couple. They say it is refunded IF you buy! Wow....no pressure! ATM/ credi card machine was not even working on our visit either. Other local business owners were not complementary so we feel we did not miss much. This business has been recently (?) sold so a lot has changed. Watch the You Tube video and then you decide! The video won't tell you about the entrance fee. Find downtown Mayer and visit the 2 great thrift stores on the highway and have fun. We hear that the bakery downtown is great but was already closed by 3:00pm.

It never have happened to anyone that mentioned like above. We offers 100% money back guarantee if not satisfied and you should ask for refund before you leave.
It is only one place, not two seperated.
Anyway we are sorry that it happened unexpectedly, please stop by again any time, we will reimburse you.
We are confidently the best antique music & phonograph museum in Southwestern area.
We are charging $5.00 for admission fee, however if customer buys $10 or more, we'll reimburse and if customers are not satisfied, no matter what, we'll do 100% money back guarantee.

I kept meaning to visit this antique place every time I drove by; it looked intriguing. So today, when I finally made a point of visiting it, I was stunned by how much was actually there... a great many interesting items from different decades over the past century, as well as some from the 19th century. The range and variety of collections was unusual.
The first thing I saw when I parked my car, was an oversize Santa Claus lounging on a moon, hanging from a tree at the side of a creek. I wandered over to see an old-time jail, before ascending the many wood steps to the entrance of the museum/store above. The very construction of the wooden building felt as though it were from an older time. I trod carefully, as the wood flooring was a bit uneven in places.
The size and scope of collections was mind-boggling. I was thrilled that it was so much more wonderful than I had imagined it would be. I wandered from room to room, never knowing what was coming next... a room full of victrolas, an old-time kitchen, guitars hanging over small pianos, more cookie jars than I've ever seen in one place, kachinas, old cameras, telephones, clocks, dolls, glassware, you name it. I must have seen over 100 collector's items that I'd never seen before, and I've done a lot of antiquing over the years.
The new owner generously allowed me to use the place for a photo shoot.

We first became aware of this place when it was featured on the TV show American Pickers, so we were very excited to check this place out. Although the store is huge and seemed very promising when we first walked in, we were quickly disappointed once we started looking at the items that were for sale. Although there are some antiques, most of the items here are not very old, and some of it is just plain junk. If you're looking for a genuine antique store, this isn't the place for you. In all honesty, it reminded me more of a Goodwill or Salvation Army store.

If you are looking for any kind of antique, trinket, old dishes, glass ware, toys, lsmps, furniture, this is the place. We're told th building was specifically built by Smitty to sell his wares. This place was anything and everything. If you are looking for something specific, this may not be your place. But if you're just looking for something to catch your eye. You just may find it here. This place was also on one episode of American Pickers.

I've been wanting to come here for over 20 years but I've always had to drive by with limited time. When my wife wanted to get out of town and suggested this area it was my condition for going.
I wasn't disappointed. Lots of old items that brought back tons of memories. Many things I've never seen before. More than a few things I'd rather not see again.
Basically it's a treasure trove surrounded by lots of junk. If you know what your looking for or at and know it's value this place can be lots of fun with some great buys. Or you can waste your money on imitation Hummels, cheaper pottery and items you have no ides what they are for, but they look cool.
Tons of retro items to fill out a 60's Modern home.
What it comes down to is this is a fun place to stroll around looking for something special. It's worth the trip if you have the time.
