This place was recommended to us by the hotel staff. It is a great concept and you get to see a lot of different animals (mostly birds). It would have been great to learn more about the animals, the animal rescue work and so forth, but the tour was conducted in Spanish, which we do not speak and barely understand. There is an English tour at 10 am only which we learned afterwards, but we did not know about that - this information is not listed on the website, and when we were purchasing tickets, clearly struggling with communication in Spanish, nobody warned us, that the tour would be in Spanish. This was very frustrating and disappointing.
It could have been a great experience, but for this couple of tourists from US, this was just OK.

The Güiráoga reserve is a surprising place, they mention that it is better to visit this site than the Aviary in Foza de Iguaçu because of its proximity to animals. Guests can pay by international card at this property. It is a 1 hrs 30min guided trip inside the enclosure. The first moment, we are guided within the jungle landscape in a motorized transport to the site where the animals are located. The guides provide an explanation of the creation of the site, in addition to its purpose and works. They are very attentive and willing to answer any questions about the site and its animals. When in species spaces, it is important NOT to speak to them or draw their attention to them with sounds, whistles or words to contribute to their early recovery. It is recommended not to take photos and videos with flash.

Excellent faunal clinic, dedicated to the preservation of fauna recovered from traffic conditions or road accidents, a guided tour of excellence, with a history from its creation to the present day, ideal to visit as a family, the specimens they possess for rehabilitation are impressive, super recommended

4 stars for the work they are doing, but if you are unable to speak Spanish, the tour can be a bit of a drag. I know, I know, entitled Inglis speakers!!
A couple of sign in English would be helpful, especially the names of the animals and birds. I had a kindly Argentine couple take pity on me and try to pass on some info using google translate. They recommended that I go to the bird park in Brazil explaining that it was much larger with much more to see.
Remember to take some mosquito repellent.
Anyway, this is good and important work and you can get up close to a few of the iconic birds.

I think it’s important for people to know from the beginning this is an animal rescue center. It is not a zoo. The animals there often have sad stories, though it is worth keeping in mind that the happy stories you do not get to see - those animals that are nursed back to health and then released are kept away from human interaction as much as possible in order to help with a successful release into the wild. I would definitely recommend going to support the rescue center (which does not get government funding as far as I know, so each ticket purchase is very important) and also to see some animals that you would not otherwise get to see. The center is in a forested area so there is a short ride in an open truck to get to where the animals are held and then an easy walk through the forest to see the animals.

Although in the reviews from June/24 they say that the entrance fee is 300 pesos, a pure lie... we paid 15 thousand pesos per person... we waited for more than 1 hour with nowhere to sit, an extremely stinky and dirty bathroom, barely we saw animals, boring.... we only saw bush... I will never go back, the work they do can be incredible, but the tour is very bad

We had a nice visit. The tour was available in English, so after the little ride into the area where all the animals are kept, we were the only ones on our tour. Our guide, Alex, is a volunteer, and since this was our first time taking any kind of tour in Argentina, we were able to ask all kinds of questions only a local could answer. It was a pleasant visit. We were there maybe a total of 2 hours.
To get there, you can take a bus from the main bus station in Iguazú. Just go down to platform 11, I think, and you'll pay a very small fee once you get on the bus. They drop you off right outside. Getting back by bus, however, you have to cross the street and walk up the road towards Puerto Iguazú a little bit (3 minute walk), past the BEER hotel (haha). There should be a little bus stop. We didn't know there were actual stops, and just stood by the side of the road, and the bus driver was kind enough to stop for us anyway. The whole trip including buses and waiting and the tour was probably about 3 hours.

An interesting place to visit if you have approximately 2 hours
The place is a “recovery” site for animals that were housed for different reasons. In some cases, they will never return to their natural habitat and in others they are preparing them for reinsertion.
If you are with children, it is a nice experience for them to get to know

The broken animal shelter brought our expectations to an all-time low. l The tour begins with a talk on some models where they do the initial explanation. The models are depressingly dark and meaningless. The animals you show are few and sometimes the cages are very small, extending the suffering they went through in their previous years.
THE WORST 1) lack of friendliness of the checkout staff, 2 mistreatment of disabled people and their companions (please see the complaints book on site), 3) they do not have Wi-Fi to charge with a virtual wallet, 4) the website is Terrible and uninformed, nowhere does the visiting schedule appear.
We went at a quarter to 12 and they told us that there was no room and that we should wait two hours there for a new shift. We were never able to know what the shifts were, only when we went in person
5) They were disabled people whose companion was charged the same entrance fee although this is punishable by law. They don't care. They never answer the phone, not even in hotels.
6)The entrance fee is very high for what they offer (7,500 pesos) and the guided tour is boring, lasting an hour or so. They collect approximately almost 800 thousand per day (23 people in 4 or 5 shifts)
Regrettable visit. Since they took out the provincial subsidy, they raised the entrance fee almost three times. 7)Approximately 30 people work and very few are professionals (mostly students). When we asked to see the manager, he was not there.
NOT WORTH IT, boring tour, expensive and zero friendliness
greetings

Nice tour for adults and children. The place and the work with the rescued animals is very interesting. First, you take a tour on a tractor and then a short walk with the guide, where they inform you how the animals arrive and what care they are given.
There are toilets.

Skrevet 18. september 2019
Do you need to book a tour or can you pay an entrance fee and walk around ? Hoping to just walk around after my am flight into Puerto Iguazu. Thanks so much trio advisors !
Skrevet 22. august 2019
You have to go by tour I believe, but they leave regularly. The tour is included in the entrance fee, there is a video about the site to watch while waiting for the tour to begin. Well worth a visit
