The ruins of San Ignacio in Misiones, where we decided to stop for lunch and visit the place. I didn’t really know what we were going to come across, beyond the photos you know, and we were pleasantly surprised.
On the way down, it's a couple of blocks to get to the point where the exit of the ruins is. Unbeknownst to us, we parked there on the street for a ticket and $1200.
But to reach the entrance portal to the park, we had to have advanced about 350 meters more, which we realized later, when we had to walk.
The good thing is that we parked at the door of the restaurant Portal del Sol, (where we had very good and cheap lunch), with the custody of the municipal employees and the traffic police. So, leaving the car loaded on the street, while we did all the tour, was not a problem.
The park has an entrance fee of $3000 per person if you do it on your own, for non-native Argentines of Misiones Varia for foreigners, locals, students. Children under 6 years old enter free of charge.
In addition to doing it on your own, it is possible to tour it with the guide company. Anyway, for the guided tour, we had to wait more than an hour for it to start, and we were on our way. So we decided to do it freely and at our own pace.
The park is gigantic, much more than I expected. You can really see the distribution of all the contractions spread like a big city. Designed and diagrammed with great judgment.
And the ruins are wonderful. True works of Jesuit architecture, What remains is really beautiful.
We were a long time walking. And I recommend wearing sunscreen, hat and water to hydrate. We made the visit in the middle of winter (mid-July) and very hot.
After touring the entire property, you end up in a small museum where you can learn more about the life that the Jesuits led at the time and next to the exit are the bathrooms.
When we left, we were right in front of where we had left the car parked, so it worked very well to have left it there, although we did it without knowing it!
Opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, staying until 6:30 pm. The last guided departure is at 17:30hs.
Children under the age of 6, persons with disabilities, local residents and missionary students (primary and secondary) do not pay admission.
It is mandatory to present ID in order to validate residence or nationality.

I took the tour from Foz do Iguaçu by car, it is 230 km from the border of Argentina, good asphalt, very quiet road. You park the car on the edge of the street and pay for parking for the caregivers, it costs 1200 pesos. To enter the ruins costs 10 thousand pesos per person, you can buy the ticket on time with qrcode, or pay in cash, do not accept card at the ticket office.
It's pretty, worth seeing. When you get out of the ruins, right in front there is a restaurant, great option for lunch.
On the return to Brazil almost at the border, the police to the cars from Brazil to charge the tourist fee, has to pay in cash, costs 1500 pesos per person, and is valid for 30 days, so if the other day you go to take another ride in Argentina, save the ticket because it is valid for 30 days.

We liked the walk, it is organized and clean. Perhaps the part we liked the most is walking through the sectors where the jungle still covers some of the buildings. That area was much quieter and without people. There are two museums, don't miss the one at the exit, very simple but captivating, related to the Guaraní culture.

The place is incredible, the landscape and history are very enchanting and each ruin is complete! It's worth the visit, mainly because it is little known by Brazilians.

The Jesuit-Guarani mission San Ignacio Mini has enormous historical value and its architectural beauty, within a jungle area, is striking. I consider that knowing the history and visiting these ruins is absolutely recommended. In addition, the city of San Ignacio is very beautiful and welcoming.

The Jesuit Ruins (named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) are wonderful and are 90% rebuilt.
It is a unique and UNMISSABLE tour, not only for these (San Ignacio Miní), but also for the other 3: Santa Ana, Loreto and Santa María la Mayor
What we did not like is the organization of the night show that takes place in the Ruins.
We were there in the afternoon doing the daytime visit, we asked about the night show and they only told us:
"Tickets begin to be sold at 8:00 p.m. and the performance begins at 8:30 p.m." (no additional clarification)
- They do not inform that there is a maximum quota to enter.
- They do not inform that the second performance at 9:30 p.m. takes place if there is a minimum number of attendees.
The biggest problem is that both amounts (the maximum capacity for the first function and the minimum for the next) are not written anywhere and depend on the desires of the employees on duty.
The night we went they started saying the high was 80 and we stayed outside.
For the second function, first they said minimum 15, then minimum 20 (because we didn't reach that number).
A bus just arrived from which more than 15 people got off, which exceeded both numbers and they had to do a second performance, then "someone decided" that up to 20 more could enter (that is, a maximum of 100), leaving some of the bus out. of the microphone and they never did the second performance.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
And to complete the poor organization, it is not reported that irregular terrain will be covered, with stones buried in the middle of total darkness.
A man with mobility problems entered with us who could not make the tour and they did not refund his ticket either.
A SHAME.
It can be improved a lot only with:
- Greater and complete prior information (from staff, on posters and on the Web)
- Include advance ticket sales (in person and online)
Considering that it is an initiative for tourists to spend the night in the place (like us) and that it is not just a passing visit to Iguazú.
Please respect tourists by organizing them better.

We stopped for two nights in San Ignacio to break up the trip from Ibera to Iguazu. The mission was better than we expected and its large size was impressive. There is still lots of preserved detail noted in the arches and carved paver blocks. The facility is wheelchair accessible, I managed in a manual chair with bike tires and the help of my husband. Staff very friendly. Only annoyance is the freelance parking guys looking for money for free parking spots near the facility. Park on the side of the facility to avoid

Excellent then, you can do it privately and get to know the city which is really beautiful, you don't need to buy a package, plus all the regular buses go.

Buenas tardes!!
