We went here with our children (I think the signage said Wetland Turtles) and I really regret going. The pool was filthy, there was an oily film on the water. I would assume the water is really unhealthy for both turtles and humans. The turtles will do everything to avoid people in the pool, not a surprise considering you are allowed to pick them up, what a horrible way for them to live. Considering this is how this place makes their money, I was disgusted at how they were being treated. Worst moment was when I walked over the rocks to the back of the enclosure and could see a dead turtle at the bottom of the pool. PLEASE do not make my mistake and come here.

Terrible people holding holding the Turtles up for photos and a guy diving for them
Very dirty water watch put of you swim in it a mixture of Turtle poo and magpies for food.
25 turtles locked in a small pond they could not get out. In a prison.

Is the owner Samoan or Chinese? How could somebody trap a wild life lovely turtle from their natural habitat in such a horrible environment in order to earn tourists money ? I am surprised the Samoan authority will let those atrocity to happen in such a peaceful n religious country like Samoa.

This was so, so sad, turtles captured from the wild and kept in a stinking pond, thick with filth and algae.
Some of the turtles looked sick and had what looked like fungus growing on them.
We refused to pay and immediately left when we saw what was happening.
Considering that the turtle is such a huge part of Samoan culture, beliefs and tradition it was very surprising that this is allowed to happen - complete disregard for the well being of those beautiful animals.
Hoping that people will stop visiting and funding will this terrible set-up.

My family and I had an amazing experience in Savai'i when we travelled in October 2018. We stayed at Stevensons at Manase and we were relatively close to this place, and being an animal lover and seeing the raving reviews, we decided to visit.
We left really disappointed to see that these sea turtles were swimming in a mixture of fresh and sea water and their shells were covered in some sort of slimy algae... The turtles were very friendly, and loved coming over for some papaya. However, the pool seemed dirty and the turtles crammed in a relatively small space for the numbers. The family hosting the place were clearly very poor, and while I wanted to support them I regretted doing so at the expense of these poor creatures. I am sure the family has good intentions, but clearly these animals are suffering and not in their right habitat.
These sea turtles should be liberated in the sea, which is their natural habitat. In fact, I am not sure why this even exists because during our stay in Samoa we snorkeled every day and we saw at least two turtles feeding and swimming naturally, really close to us in the reef in front of the beach!! At the very least, all of these turtles should be brought back to their natural sea water and maybe create a much bigger confined space for a few of them out of the coast. Maybe the government could provide some license for this family to grant access to tourists to get into the sea water with them... some alternative ideas, because this one clearly does not work for the animals and it eventually reflects poor on Samoa's sustainable image. The rest of the places are a gem to visit because they are so well looked after!!
PS: sorry while submitting this review it did not allow me to put the correct date of the visit, so I clarified above.

My daughter absolutely loved it. Didn't swim with the turtles but the experience seeing them all was definitely a highlight.

If you go to Savai’i, it’s pretty much a must to go and see the turtles . We didn’t t swim with them. It was enough to just be close to them and feed them some Esi leaves. They are such beautiful creatures! The pool they were in was pretty clean and clear. I’ve been there before and the water has been pretty murky. Maybe because of too many people swimming in it? It is the wet season now , so hardly any tourists, which is a bonus! We had the whole place to ourselves, so we could sit beside the pool and just watch the turtles and admire them. It’s a lovely spot, with lots of gardens and water. So I would recommend going there.

The road into the turtle pond is quite bumpy. It's situated at the back of a house.I'm not sure of the entry fee as it was paid for by our guide. We received a bowl of chopped up papaya to feed the turtles. We didn't get in the water. It didn't look very inviting at all to us,however there were 3 young women swimming in there when we went. The water wasn't that deep easy to stand in.The turtles are captured in the pond.We could see an entrance where the water comes in had chicken wire across it so they don't get out.I sat on the edge with my feet in the water to feed them. It's rocky & easy to slip even on the edge.I fed them there were probably 8-10 turtles of different sizes in there. They had green algae? growing on their shells. One actually bit me on the fingers while I was holding the fruit-might have been my fault-(no skin broken) & I then heard one one the young women say the same thing to her friends.I then threw the fruit to them rather than hold it.A good chance to see & touch turtles but I would like to see them in a better environment.
