This is a great activity to do with the teenagers keep them engaged and you can have fun too! Easy to ride for all!

This week I hosted another corporate event with this company (last year we did Old Town Scottsdale) and there were a handful of factors that came together to make it an average experience.
There were a few factors that the tour company cannot address - like the heat or lack of things to see/talk about around Tempe Town Lake - but there are issues we had with the experience that people complained about that I'll address here.
(Disclaimer: it was hot and we showed up in two groups one 10mins late and the other at least 20mins late which I am sure was very frustrating for the tour guides)
The things people from the group noticed/complained about to me afterwards:
1. Guides - both very young, these were not experienced tour guides but rather young kids who had this job. Both perfectly nice and pleasant but both groups noticed things like shallow data on the area/Phoenix (more like highlights) and a typical youthful 'guide' affect of wanting to get through the task and move on and not that next-level of awareness/mother-hen watching of the group and making sure everyone was OK, comfortable, safe that we have gotten with other tour companies when you are dealing with professional guides. We toured with this group last year in Old Town and the feedback we gave then was the same, the guide was very young and only knew high level information about Old Town, BUT she was quite a bit more aware/concerned with the comfort of the group (always asking, scooting around to check on people, reminding us to stretch, asking for bathroom breaks, checking on water, etc.) which is why we gave 1 star higher to her last year.
2. Equipment - the Segways didn't all match, 2 different styles of machines and ALL of them looked like they had been in service for years. All the foot pads were worm down/torn up, lots of scratched up housings... 2 people right away noticed "wow, how old are these machines" - honestly given the age/skillset of the guides and the state of the Segways my first thought is that this company is just trying to operate on very thin margins and picking up used equipment/hiring very cheap labor to get the job done - which is fine, but given the reviews here and what I wanted to present to the corporate group it set us up for a lot of disappointment.
3. The Area - Tempe Town Lake is an incredible feat; the construction of it, why it exists, how ASU got it... unfortunately it is in its early stages of construction. In 10 years, I expect this place to be an incredible social/environmental/professional hub of living and working with lots of landscaping to compliment the environment, but right now it's a bit sparse and the guides didn't really compensate with great in-depth knowledge... it was all high level "what you see". They did have some interesting facts about the rupturing of the damn many years ago, but we all wanted more than that.
Bottom line, no one called this out as a particularly good activity for our week and I wouldn't tour with this company again.

This was our 4th time doing a segway tour. We have done Austin, TX, Fort Worth, TX and DC. Those were better experiences mostly because there was more history to learn about. My biggest complaint was we brought friends with us that have never done a segway. The tour guide put them on after some explanation. He allowed them to do a few moves and that was it before we started the tour. Every other one we have done gives 15-30 minutes of practice to get use to the segway. Two of the other tours had videos to watch. He was adamant that he hold the segway if we needed to get off and never go backwards. That is pretty dumb because if he would have shown my friends that going backwards is ok and that if you go up to a curb or fence you can get off. So with the lack of practice my friend fell off multiple times and was hurt on it. She had many scrapes and bruises from the experience and will now never do it again. Which is a shame because I know my friend would have done fine with the proper training. So, I would not recommend this one unless you have done it before and already now how to ride one. Also, only if you get a discount because it's not worth the full price. Not enough substance.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It was a pleasure speaking with you by phone at the time that you wrote your review. When we spoke over the phone I explained that the reason why we don't allow guests to step off the machines without a tour guide holding the bar or at least present to grab the bar, is sometimes it can be unsafe for riders who are having a difficult time, to step off without assistance. So in order to keep a high safety standard, we ask our guests not to step off without guide assistance. Your tour guide said that a gal in your group was having a difficult time mastering the machine.

This is a really good way to do some easy sightseeing in Scottsdale. The segway route goes through the historical part of the Old Town, and the adjacent newer section of the Waterfront area. On route we saw some very nice southwestern bronze statues.

This is a Segway tour of Tempe. It occurred on the same day as a 5K walk/run race and followed the same track. There were six family members on this trip, all adults.
The Segways were in good operating condition and the pre-ride instructions were good. The trail led around Tempe Town Lake with great views of the new office buildings and condominiums/student housing and apartments along the the way. Dodging runners wasn't too difficult and was actually entertaining. The lake view was good and included rowers and a few sailboats.
Our guide was pleasant and did a good job herding everyone along.
This was an easy ride and I would advise it to anyone wanting to try riding/driving a Segway.

Great tour and even better guide - Tiffany - always so much fun! It will be better once the lake is restored - I learned a lot about the interesting history of Tempe as well.

This particular tour which is the Tempe Town lake tour is not like most of the Segway tours you will find throughout the country in that this tour does not have any historical spots and as such is not an historical tour. It is more of a slightly scenic tour which basically is an out and back tour along the edge of the Tempe Town Lake. This section of water is a portion of the Salt River. The tour starts and ends at the Tempe Center for the Arts parking lot. If you have had limited exposure to the fauna of Arizona, this tour can be pretty interesting in that regard as you are able to see landscaping Arizona style around some pretty impressive buildings and parks. The majority of the "trail" is fairly wide and very straight, which allows beginners an easy go at it.
For advanced or expert riders, this may not be the best run as it is a fairly boring stretch of straight-away. The primary stop is at a small strip center with a Starbucks and a frozen yogurt place which I found to be most welcome for the heat.
Make certain you wear plenty of sunscreen as there are no overhead trees and the only shade you will encounter comes from buildings on the second half of the run. A bottle of water is provided but you may want to bring an additional one depending on the time of year.
The guide did her best to through in some facts and interesting trivia which is thankful as it would be completely boring otherwise.
I would highly recommend that the organization tout this run as the beginner tour/run and market it as such as it is perfect for that. If however, you have ridden a segway a few times, you'll be best to skip this run and perhaps check out

What a fun afternoon we spent with tour guide, Tiffany, as we enjoyed a terrific afternoon ( or about
an hour and a half anyway ) segwaying around Tempe Lakefront. Our tour guide took ample time making certain all members of the group were totally "at ease" with the machines before we departed
on our journey. We had headsets so there was constant conversation, "warnings" before bumps in the road were encountered and plenty of witty and informative tour-guide information about our environment. This tour is worth every cent we paid and we would take this same tour on our next Arizona vacation. Really enjoyable, eeven more so with Tiffany as our guide.

Tiffany, our guide, is what makes this tour special! As newbies to a skegway we were initially a bit anxious. Within minutes of having us up on our skegway, she had us feeling at ease and in control. She's informative and fun and a skegway is a great way to get around!

Great experience with a Segway to explore the Tempe Town Lake area, learn some history from your guide and learn how to ride the Segway. Great, fun experience! Highly recommend these tours!

I can't find a price list what is the charge??? We are seniors and my other has diabetes and has can't walk long distances so this sounds wonderful plus we ride motorcycles so this would be fun. Very excited to hear from you Te

We had a AAA discount which gave us 50% off. It was great fun but does require standing on the segway. Mostly body weight controls everything but feet do get tired. They provide opportunity for rest during your ride. We are seniors as well. It is really worth trying and much more fun then walking, but only you can decide your physical limitations. There was a gentleman with us that was 76.
