What an interesting and wonderful place to visit. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, informative and passionate about the sea turtles. The work being done here is wonderful. A reminder to arrange transport here and back. Taxis may be hard to come by.

Went here as the reviews on 'Turtle Island' were not good. This was a brilliant experience. Extremely educational and great to know that there is such an organisation dedicated to the conservation of turtles. The staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. Our grandson enjoyed the experience of releasing a turtle into the ocean and receiving a certificate. A must visit experience time only 1-1/2 hours.

Outlines the plight of the turtles, mainly through illegal trade. Whilst the facilities aren’t flashy they show the plight of these majestic creatures. I’m assuming it is run by volunteers which is great. Some of the information they provided was good but it was hit and miss. Perhaps a bit more structured presentation and walk through before letting people wonder? You really only need 20-30 minutes at the site, it is quite small.
Hats off to the centre though for trying to make a difference. Well done.

I had a great experience at this centre. The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming and the turtles of all ages seemed well cared for.

Please DO NOT adopt a turtle! The chance of survival is 1% to 2%! This organization promotes 'adopting' a 3 to 4 day old turtle in the middle of the ocean. The shell is still soft, they can't dive and they have no idea how to hunt. All you get is a diploma and a necklace when you release such a baby turtle. Please, don't let this sales pitch fool you! I worked at a turtle conservation company in Nusa Penida. That organization only releases them when they are 6 to 9 months old. When the carapace is almost fully developed. When they can dive and have learned to hunt. DO NOT DO IT!

Release a week old turtle in the wild. Important center that help the only 7 specimens of the world sea turtles alive. You learn about the challenges the turtles meet and see an area with eggs in sand and lots of very sweet youngsters ready for a life in the oceans. For 250.000 you can adopt tour own turtle, go in rescue car and boat and actually set the turtle free. Cool, although the boat man stopped in the middle of a busy boat traffic area - and that did not really increase the option of my turtle (called Kjell-Pett-Erik).

How far drive from nusa dua to the turtle centre?

It's about half an hour. If you don't have your own car, suggest you hire a driver for a half day rather than take a taxi, as you will need to have it wait since there are no passing taxis in that area. You could spend some time in nearby Sanur

Hello, we are currently in Bali and are interested in adopting a baby turtle. We read that the beach, were we can release the turtle was locked in october 2018. Is it still locked or can we release by ourselfes? And do you have babys at the Moment? We would like to Visit within the next the next few days.

You can go anytime during the day, they are open every day. Better to go in the morning, early afternoon and not leave it for late otherwise you will be in a hurry and don't have time to go around.

Hello. Can we just turn up and adopt a turtle and set free into the ocean? What days and times are they open? Do you have a contact email? - I’ve tried the form on website but doesn’t work.
Thanks!

The turtles are released depending on when the eggs hatch and therefore there is no set day. When it does happen they will make an announcement on Kuta beach at about 4 or 5 pm which can be heard from a distance. You go to the Bali Sea Turtle Society site opposite the beach, pay and get a turtle in a container to release. When everyone has their turtle they proceed down to the water, line up and let the turtles go under supervision. This can all take a bit of time as they are quite disorganised but worth the experience. Look at the Bali Sea Turtle Society FaceBook page for the latest, if you are in Kuta though just pop in and ask them. If you walk to the beach via Kuta Market turn right before you hit the sand and walk along the path and you will find the Turtle Society on your right.
