In addition to the customary name Golden Temple, it has a third name Kwa Bahal. It is a unique Buddhist monastery built in the 12th century. It is located on the northern side of Durbar Square and has retained its current form since the beginning of the 15th century. The monastery buildings located around a closed courtyard make an incredible impression. Opposite the main entrance is the main sanctuary of Sakyamuni Buddha located in a 4-story temple. In the middle of the courtyard there is a Swayambhu stupa. Countless images of Buddha, but also Makahala and Ganesha add a magical dimension to the place. The courtyard is also surrounded by rows of prayer wheels. The whole is complemented by large sculptures of elephants, lions and other rich decorations. It is truly a magical place and for me the biggest attraction in Patan.

Whether it's a Kathmandu city tour Including the Langtang Valley trekking route, I used the tour service of the page Heaven On Nepal, which is owned by Mr. Abin's team. I am a Nepali who can communicate in Thai. Makes it answer my needs as completely and completely as possible.
I must say that I am impressed in every aspect, whether it is service work or facilitation, safety and attention to every detail. Makes you feel as warm as if you were traveling with close friends who would welcome you in a friendly way.
If there is a chance next time I have to travel to Nepal again. Will definitely have to use the services of this company again.

The Golden Temple in Patan is also known as the Hiranyavarna Mahavihara or the Kwa Baha Monastery. The monastery of Shakyamuni Buddha was build by King Bhasker Verma. Legend has it that the temple was built at a place where a rat chased a cat. Though, I did not see but was told that rats are being fed at this place.

In translation "Gold-colored Great Monastery" - this temple is on Patan walking tour. Very interesting architecture. Built in the very beginning of 15th century. Polished guilt copper gives this gold temple its name.

This is one of the most beautiful temples that i have ever seen. the intricate art and craft are full on display and combined with all that beautiful gold makes the temple a sight to behold. the temple itself is located in Patan Durbar Square which is probably the most beautiful one out of the three durbar square. it is a must see place while in Nepal.

This absolutely stunning temple is the shining example of Newari Buddhism in action. The architecture, sculpture, and art are examples of the best that Newa artisans have to offer. The temple is an active place of worship, not just a museum.
And if you happen to see a small child with a shaved head running around: he is the abbot! Yes, really. In a unique local tradition, the temple is technically taken care of by a boy under the age of 12. Don't worry, he only holds the post for a month and his family is taking care of him. Plus aside from a few small duties a day, you usually see whichever child is abbot playing kickball or joking with other kids his age.
If you are lucky, or happen to have a Nepali speaker with you who can request it, see if you can visit the second floor of the balcony. There, in a crystal stupa, are relics from the cremation of Suddhartha Buddha.
A few tips:
-Please remember this is an active place of worship and many people are there to worship, so treat it as such
-Do not point your feet at any images or people
-Point with your hand, not your index finger. The index finger is considered rude
-Consider offering a butterlamp, both out of respect and in that it supports the temple
-Spin all prayer wheels clockwise
Enjoy your visit!
