A distinctive town landmark dating back to the 13th Century.
aug. 2021
King's Lynn Guildhall, (more fully referred to as the Guildhall of the Holy and Undivided Trinity), is a major town landmark that was built in 1422-1428. Today it is a municipal building and is Grade I listed. The building has a rather distinctive chequered patterned exterior and large arched window. The building has quite a history and has been used as a prison and has had several royal visits. A £2.6 million restoration was completed in March 2017.

Access is through the exhibition (and is "signposted" by the Tourist Information person). Worth visiting.

A beautiful building in the centre of town.
jul. 2021
Go along and see this building as there are three must see buildings in this area of town. The Minster across the road and the story of LYNN added to the end of the Town Hall.

Fantastic walking tour of historic King's Lynn
aug. 2020
Through the Tourist Information Centre, we booked a walking tour of historic King's Lynn. Ivor, our very knowledgeable guide, gave us a specially tailored tour round the historic centre of this fascinating town. We were very impressed by what we saw and would highly recommend it to others.

Outstanding walking tour of historic Kings Lynn
aug. 2020 • Par
Arranged through the Tourist Information Centre, Ivor gave us the most interesting and helpful tour that took over 2hrs. Highlights included how the town had changed over the centuries and what a significant part it had played in the development of England throughout the ages. We were gripped all the way through. Highly recommended.

Worth seeking out if only to look at the chequerboard architecture
sep. 2019
King's Lynn's Town Hall and Trinity Guildhall are two of the most important buildings in the town. Although called the Town Hall and Trinity Guildhall, they are actually two of four separarte but connected buildings, The Municipal Building, The Porch, The Trinity Guildhall and The Gaol House. Although, together, these buildings create King's Lynn's Town Hall Complex and are all similar in style, there is a period of over 400 years from when the first building (The Trinity Guildhall) to when the last building (The Municipal Building) was completed. The Trinity Guildhall was constructed in 1422, then came The Porch in 1624, then The Gaol House in 1784 and finally The Municipal Building in 1895. The Trinity Guildhall, The Porch and The Municipal Building have a chequerboard design of limestone and knapped flint, called "flushwork", which, at one time, was widely used in East Anglia. The Gaol House, being built in 1784, is typical Georgian. It looks like a grand townhouse but the chains over the door suggest that its inhabitants were thieves, debtors and, possibly, murderers, rather than wealthy merchants. The Gaol House houses a Tourist Information Office and, behind that, the 'Stories of Lynn' which tells the history of King's Lynn and its magistrates, merchants and seafarers using the Borough Archives which are housed in the building. Situated just over the road from King's Lynn Minster, these buildings are worth seeking out if only to look at their chequerboard architecture. A visit to the Minster and the Town Hall Complex can be easily combined

Impressive

Only saw this during the day, but have to say it was really impressive, it was a shame i didn't see it lit up at night, but well worth a visit, even if only to look at the walls and the flint work.

Stunning local Town Hall - Impressive Flint Work
mai 2019 • Familie
Walking back to the car in Kings Lynn, we came across the Town Hall and Trinity Guildhall across the road from the Minster by accident.
Simply stunning local flint stone work in checkerboard effect - highly impressive.
Contains the local tourist information office - so a usefull stop!
