Visited last week with family. Despite it being a fairly long walk to the beach when the tide is out, it is worth it. Beautiful scenery and so much space. We walked to Wells from the beach and barely saw anyone. Peaceful and relaxing.

Went today for a walk on the beach and parked as close as we could to the beach on lady Anne’s drive. Plenty of parking available and numerous places to pay, which seemed to accept card only. The beach itself is still a fair walk, we went at low tide and it was 1.5km to get to the sea so make sure you put enough time on the parking. Despite the car park seeming busy, there was hardly anyone on the beach, I assume because it’s such a big beach everyone is so spread out. Dogs are welcome on the beach but watch out for the signs, as to whether they have to be on leads or not, depends on what is happening with birds nesting. We had a nice time here and the dogs really liked it, finished off with an ice cream from the van in the car park.

This beach is beautiful, dog friendly but very clean, can honestly say we did not see any dog poo anywhere. Lovely walk to the beach through the trees from a reasonably priced car park. The only downside to this is the Cafe, which although very nice and staff are friendly and helpful, it is so overpriced as to be ridiculous. I bought 4 cans of water and 3 slices of cake which cost me just over £18.00! I would highly recommend the beach and the area in general but avoid the cafe and take your own. i really don't understand the pricing, bring the prices down to a reasonable level and you will get more business - simple!

This beach is one of the most unique beaches I have visited. Well worth seeking it out of in the area.
The beach forms just one part of a larger development of park and woodlands and stately buildings that one can enjoy for an entire day.
There is ample parking both at the beach, midway between beach and parklands and within the park grounds itself.
I think you should expect lots of walking if you intend to experience everything the area has to offer. Bring water and snacks as the facilities are a little spaced out and you can be left stranded if you need toilets, snacks or water especially with older, younger or even pets.
The beach is literally accessed by turning off the approach road you drive on. There is parking along a long stretch of pebbles road for approx 200 cars woth disabled and electric charging (2) right at the end of the road.
At the end of the road is where you enter a pine forest to make your way to the beach. Before you enter there is a cafe, toilet zone where you can get a tea, coffee, sandwich etc. I picked up a sausage roll here for £3.95 which although very tasty can work out expensive if snacking for three or four. Better to bring your own snacks. There were toilets here too in the ratio of 3-1 F/M and still there were queues for the ladies.
This cafe also affords patrons excellent views across the sprawling fields for birdwatching enthusiasts.
Once out of the cafe the wall begins through the pine forest towards the beach. The forest walk is about 5/10 minutes before you exit the forest and into the broad and breathtaking expanse of the bay. The time you arrive here will determine the distance you walk to the sea. For us at approx 1:15 we had probably the longest walk available as the tide was out virtually all way. That was approx 1km. High tide was about 7pm.
The area here is sparse. No shops or attractions of any kind. Just plain, expansive, beautiful beach. They say if this beach that it is where the sky meets the sea and it is so true. Stunning. Exhilarating. Inspiring.

A unique beach. It is huge and largely untouched with development. No tacky shops or food venders. As nature intended.
After a walk though a pine wood and a nature reserve you’ll find massive dunes and acres or flat sand. Many visitors bring their dogs (as did we) and there is plenty of space to run around.
It’s a popular place on a nice day. You’ll struggle to park later in the day.
That’s because it’s great!

I'm a nature lover. The beach at Holkam Gap, at first sight, may look a little dull for wildlife but a walk will reveal Redshank, Shelduck, Brent Geese, Reed Bunting, Meadow Pipit, and possible Lapland Bunting, Shore Lark and Hen Harrier. For walkers and beachgoers, the bay offers large clean areas that, on a warm day, will delight young and old.

Have been going to Holkham for a dip in the summer for 30 years. It is of course very beautiful, and they now have q nice visitor centre/cafe with toilets.
The potential issue is the bathing water quality. The EA don't measure the water quality at Holkham beach itself, but the ratings at the next-door Wells beach have declined steadily from "Excellent" in 2015 and previous to only "Satisfactory" now.
I don't know whether or not the pollution from Wells migrates to Holkham, and whether or not Anglian Water is doing anything to improve their sewage treatment at Wells. But it may be worth keeping this issue in mind.

Surrounded by a wildlife sanctuary full of numerous types of bird and numerous bird watchers lies Holkham Bay.
It was a cold Winters day but thankfully no wind, definitely the largest expanse of beach I have seen in the UK, extremely wide and stretches for a few miles. We walked all over the beach for a couple of hours (my Fitbit registered 8km) and could have walked a lot further.
Another surprise save a few people walking their dog it was totally empty and no shops or buildings of any description. Totally unspoilt.

A great beach for walking and escaping the urban life. Peaceful place. Several birds if you walk further away from the dog walkers and the dunes make the walking more varied. Pine tree walks, Norfolk coastal path and a cafe are nearby too.

As beautiful as ever, sadly people aren't too fussy with their litter or dog poop.
Parking is expensive. Otherwise a lovely location.

When I was there, there were horses that could be rented out. Two of them at least. It seemed kind of on an ad hoc basis. They were trailered in to the parking area. I don’t know how you actually arrange it, how much it costs, or if they are there everyday or just on summer weekends. Certainly on the beach there were hoof prints. And the two horses I saw looked in good condition, with a Thoroughbred look about them.

Anyone know what time the Army horses are on Holkham beach?

Their website says that they haven't made a decision on dates this year due to other commitments. Worth keep checking the Household Cavalry website for updates.

Sorry, just posted a question and autotext changed Holkham to Hologram. My question is about Holkham Beach.

Hi, I have heard that Hologram Beach is naturist. Is this so and, if so, isn't here a designated area? I would like to visit but do not want to cause embarrassment or offence.

Holkham *is* naturist... well, a clearly signed part of it is. See my review. Ignore the answers above that suggest otherwise. Have fun.

Got a trip planned soon to walk up the sand dunes and along the beach. Does anyone know if there is any toilets close by? If so where and how would i find them? Thanks.
