Brilliant way to spend half a day. We hired bikes from Padstow and got as far as Bodmin before turning around. Around 22 miles in total. 3 and 5 year olds with us and did well on a trailer and bike extension respectively. Recommend a stop at the tea rooms just outside Bodmin. All pretty flat, easy cycling.

We set off from Wadebridge towards Padstow. Lovely views which didn't disappoint. Great for cyclists but walkers are in the minority. There were so many cyclists that we had a couple of near misses. I had read that dogs were ok to walk off lead but actually this isn't safe unless the dog walks to heel which kind of misses the point of the dog being off lead. There are safer and more relaxing walks to be found elsewhere! Would go again but if walking, maybe out of the peak months or join the hundreds of cyclists 🚴♀️

Amazing way to get active with the family! We hired bikes in padstow and cycled to Bodmin for lunch. Well maintained and flat track - would highly recommend as an activity when weather not good enough for beach day!

I have no idea why people say it is flat..... We had a long up hill drag into Bodmin when on the Camel Trail today. Particularly annoying as we Googled flat wheelchair trails and this walk came up, claiming to be flat.
Lovely scenery though but not good unless you have someone strong and fit to push .

We walked from each end to the middle in order to avoid walking the whole 5.5 miles and back. Found out later that you can do the return journey by bus!
The trail is on the flat so great for a less strenuous amble.
The scenery is absolutely beautiful. There is a little cafe at the Wadebridge side of the middle point.
If you are walking, take care not to get run over by cyclists.

We decided to try the camel trail walk to padstow from wadebridge
It was a lovely hot day
Set off around 10 am
It’s around 5 miles of fairly flat walking
There is a small cafe around half way if you want to stop off
Plenty of bikers coming up and down but they are responsible and slow down to pass but you need to keep over to the left
Overall a nice walk

My eldest son and I had a lot of fun cycling the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow (and back). The route is wonderfully flat with some great views. It was quite busy on the day we did it, but only really for the first mile or so. The route could do with a few more amenities but overall it’s definitely worth doing.

We walked from Wadebridge to Padstow which is a lovely level walk. I don't have a problem with people cycling but they do realise that not everyone can hear (as deaf) when they are approaching from behind and it not possible to see them. We would now like to walk towards Bodmin another time. Can fully recommend this walk.

A lovely ride through countryside. Much less busy than the Padstow route, and generally calmer. Slightly narrower. We went as far as the Borough Arms pub and stopped for lunch. You have to push the bikes up a steep slope to get to the pub car park. Towards the end of the route on the trail there are a couple of gates to open and very minor road to cross.
We were there during the half term week and I can truly say I enjoyed it more than last year when we did the Padstow route. We were not bothered about reaching a town though so that might be why. You do have to ride along a short bit of busy Wadebridge to get to the start.
We hired bikes from Bridge Bike Hire - highly recommend.

Hello- we are considering bringing our road bikes and we wondered if it was suitable for the thin tyres on road bikes or whether it was too rough. Thanks
Skrevet 20. juli 2021
90% of the track is tarmac with two small sections of compacted gravel. So yes a road bike would be fine !

Where is the best place to park for Padstow to Wadebridge ? Thanks
Skrevet 15. august 2018
Hi - we always do it the other way round because the parking in Padstow is tricky. Some of the cycle hire places in Wadebridge give you free parking.
Skrevet 18. august 2018
Ive done Wadebridge to Padstow many times but never wadebridge to Bodmin . What is there to see/do in Bodmin? Are there places to get fish and chips? cream teas? Are there any cafes/pubs along the route?
Skrevet 27. juni 2018
Bodmin is Bodmin the Jail is worth a visit town centre is pleasant lots of charity shops as per most town centres nowadays - trail there is a lovely cafe just along from the vineyard
Great food ( cream tea) and licensed I believe and a pub the borough arms
Free parking if you fancy the trail from there
Or complete the additional section from Bodmin in to the end
You pass the last holt of the Bodmin and wrenford steam railway that’s good to see if a engine is in the station
Great countryside more so than the padstow side of the trail as inland from the estuary
