A church that somehow seems just too big and impressive for this small and rather sleepy town.
But, of course, this is all to do with history.
Northleach was a very prosperous and thriving town built on the wool trade ... and it is that business that provided the wealth to build such a fine chaurch.
And it is a fine church, and has somewondeful stained glass window,
You can pak in the nearby market square for free (I think!)

Church of St Peter & St Paul has a very unique Baptismal font, be sure to use the mirror next to it to be able to see all angles.
This Cathedral of the Cotswolds is around 800 years old.
I highly recommend speaking to the volunteer at the entrance. The Lady we spoke to was a wealth of information and truly accented our visit to the church and town.

15th century church whose building was funded by the local wealthy wool merchants. Well worth half an hour to wander round

Visiting a few local churches and unfortunately it was locked so unable to visit. Luckily the church at Hampnet was open and is completely stunning. Real shame it couldn't have been open with hand sanitizer etc to allow you to worship at any time.

We missed the service but were welcomed warmly by both the Vicar and a lady. She made sure we had a cuppa and told us a little about the church. Well worth a visit.

Our family of 7 visited Northleach and made a point of going into the church as it had similarities to our own church from the exterior.
We were greeted by a "gentleman" who gave us a detailed sheet of the history of the church.
Myself and daughter were viewing the brass inlaid figures around the church and stopped at one particular brass inlay of a Husband, wife and 15 children. The "gentleman" seeing we were interested came across and told us a little about the family and then asked "where are you from", we said "Yorkshire" he then said "whereabouts" so we said "Hull" he exhaled his breath with a "Huhh" turned around and walked away. My daughter was mortified, and said "how rude".
I would just like to say whatever this "gentleman" had against Hull he was very rude to our party, and we would never visit or give the generous donations we gave again!!!

Totally stunning stained Glass windows and a magnificent roof this is a must see church if you are in the area set in a large graveyard only minutes form the market square . There has been a church on this site from the 13th Century .There have been many additions and changes to the Church over the centuries. The organ was built in 1883 by Thorold and Smith .Services are held regularly and the church is active and outgoing in the community

There was a very friendly lady inside the church that gave us a guide sheet and answered our questions. Church is really lovely and there are some interesting and unusual features. As we left and were looking back for the statue of John the Baptist a passing gentleman got chatting and told us more interesting points About the church and the village. Great experience.

A feast of incredible talent and top performers going to an extra level, as the heart energy of worship, lifted their music out of the secular every day. Tibetan bowls, Irish whistles, amazing sax playing by Patsi Gamble, rocking drums from Rob Mason, percussion, strings, keyboards and vibes at their best. And then the voices Reg Candler's melodic tones, Lauren Rimmel, Suzy Dion, Matt Worley, Ollie, Abigail Kelsey, Julian Crook, the veuve of Emily Campbell, Phil Hardy, Toby Shayan, Tom Hill, Poli Palmer and Bill Hunt, Gerry and Gill Hopkin,. Awesome guitar, mandolin and base Steve Gibbons touched our hearts with "You gotta serve somebody" . Gordon Jackson nailed "it's something you get through" but, for me the top tingle factor came from Phil Capaldi's emotionally rich performance of his brother Jim's lyrics "Love's got a hold on me." Thank you Northleach church volunteers for making this amazing event happen, giving of your time and making it a great evening for raising so much for vital charities. Thank you Bishop Roger Morris for amazing links. And what a joy to be in the inspirational setting of the great wool church.
