We have walked around Lael Forest on various occasions but this early November visit was truly spectacular with the colours of the trees. There are easy low level paths but you can also climb up the hillside and enjoy wonderful views over the forested hillsides. Parking is easy and we definitely recommend this beautiful place for 'getting away from it all' walking in glorious surroundings.

Good parking with picnic area and interpretive walk with information on tree's passed, nice waterfall and if prepared to venture off route a really nice view from top of hill.
No cost and enjoyable side trip.

Nice wee walk - steep climb to the top of the waterfall but not too challenging and our 5 year old managed it no bother.

Giant redwoods were awesome!

A lovely walk, not too long - we went up the hill from the North carpark (view from the bridge was so pretty), walked across and down to the South carpark, then circled back round through the Forest Garden.
The Forest Garden is an enclosed area with many varieties of tree; I've never been particularly interested in tree species before, but it was quite pleasant to read the signs and look at all the different types. Some beautiful rhododendrons and azaleas were in bloom, and we spotted a good range of birds (song thrush, chaffinch, great tit, coal tit).
Not far from the Lael Craft Gallery & Cafe which is also worth a wee visit.

The Lael Tree Garden is right off the main road near Ullapool and contains over 200 different trees with sign postings to identify the tree and origin. Some of the trees are quite massive while others struggle to find sunlight and grow. There are trees from all over the world planted here. At the north car park there is a viewing spot for a slightly hidden waterfall.

There are 2 car parks and both are free. The walk does not have a charge and is well worth a short break in the forest. Many people take their dogs there so a good place to have a run.

No more than a hour needed to walk the park and view the falls.

We love walking here with our four dogs. It is so peaceful with some interesting plantings. You can walk through the gardens or if more energetic straight up the hill. The dogs love exploring and there are a number of rills and streams to ease their thirst or cool off in. After you can visit the craft gallery down the road for coffee

A variety of clearly marked walks, good naming of types of trees for interest. Walks can be lengthened safely by using OS maps or Viewranger on your phone.

There is a small parking area at the entrance which is free. Mainly trees many of which are named and it is a pleasant place to walk for an hour or so.

Not sure if this is the same forest, but during our one-day cruise stop in Ullapool, we noticed the forested walking trails on the other side of the small town. Very accessible by foot while in town. It was beautiful seeing the ferns and walking across creek bridges.

Rare opportunity to walk through a Scottish forest. Historically, Scotland was deforested in the medieval ages. Thats why you get all the rolling hills and rocky craigs that are totally bare. But up here, you get to see what the island may have looked like covered in trees. Pretty COOL
