We hired a guide to take us through the reserve. We set out around 8 am, it was a bit drizzly out and our guide told us we may be limited by what we would see. Ended up seeing several frogs, Parsons chameleon, Indri Lemurs, so it was a wonderful experience. Not as busy as other parks in the area.

I only did a night hike in this park, so I can't speak about the day. We found some very cool reptiles and amphibians and Goodman mouse lemurs. There are better night hikes in Madagascar, but it is still cool.

I really enjoyed my walk here, it was much quieter than the special reserve. We saw the indri indri and the bamboo lemur. We saw a chameleon and some beautiful birds.

Amazing experience. Skip Andasibe NP across the street and head to Mitinjo instead especially if you are a small group of people and you want to be quiet in the forest.
We got to see, in private, an Indri group very early in our tour and we were the only ones there. As a result, the lemurs felt comfortable climbing lower in the trees and closer to us as we kept completely quiet and tried not to bother them. Later on, we got to spot the Bamboo lemur too, which is hard to spot as he is not territorial and moves a lot. Having more time with the lemurs allowed us to watch their behaviors and not solely focus on taking pictures.
The routes are not as hard as in the Andadsibe National Park. It was a very pleasurable walk through the park.
At the end of our visit, we supported the reforestation efforts and planted some trees in the area.

This less well-known park across the road of the Andasibe National Park had much more charm than the NP. It is controlled by a research trust which actually does a lot of nature conservation, frog breeding and reforestation (the NP mainly focuses on tourism and some conservation).
Personal guided tour (included in the park price and therefore even cheaper than the NP) through the quiet and not at all "touristy" forest. We got real close to the indri, even got to feed one some fresh leaves by hand (in an ethical way, not as a tourist trick).
If you have 2 days, as we did, go here. Even maybe if you have only one day, it might be more valuable than the NP

My husband and I are considering camping at Mitsinjo reserve in the Andasibe/mantadia area. Does anyone have any personal experience about camping there?
Thanks

Hi there, I see you were in Mitsinjo in june last year, we are planning to be there in early May. Was the camping very cold? Are the floors of the shelters wood or cement? an are there any other types of accommodation nearby , we only have sleeping mats and no cooking equipment. Where did you eat?
Thank you for any advice.
Liz
