Absolutely wonderful. Animals, animals and more animals. Did a mobile camping safari with a local guide from Botswana who looked after us really well. The photos say everything, can't wait to go again. AND added bonus that Botswana is one of the safest African countries.

It is one of the most popular destinations in the Okavango Delta and is the only (officially) protected area in the Delta, established in 1963, named after the Batawana chief Moremi III, and occupies approximately 5000 square kilometres. So with very abundant fauna. It has well-groomed and well-maintained trails, covers a third of the Okavango Delta and has dry terrain that crops out between marshy terrain. Within the area there are islands, including Chief's Island which can be reached by mokoro, a boat originally carved from an ebony trunk (now in fiberglass but wood-coloured, which doesn't clash...)
They have recently reintroduced rhinos (which were almost extinct here) and now Moremi is home to all the big five: lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants and rhinos. Difficult to see but there are also wild dogs, which are also protected because they are in danger of extinction.

Love the wildlife and you can have sightings all by your self. I did a self drive and all camps are wild.

The park is about 2/3 the size of Etosha Park, but offers significantly more vegetation and many natural watering holes. We saw significantly more animals, especially herds of elephants and zebras, lions, giraffes, a leopard and much more. The animals were easy to photograph and observe. A real highlight.

Let’s not be afraid of being iconoclastic!
Ok nice things. But rutted tracks and/or deep sand require constant attention: the driver quickly gets tired, to say the least, and sees nothing.
Animals: yes, but not so much.
It’s very nice to say that we made Moreau….

Those who go in search of the "real" Africa will find their ideal environment here.
Compared to Kenyan, Tanzanian parks, etc., the fundamental difference is: here men are the guests, animals are the masters and we must adapt to their habits.
We faced this adventure by staying for a week in tented camps (a somewhat harsh but absolutely fascinating experience), going every day in search of animals.
“Open” (but absolutely safe) tented camps, which during the night were visited by elephants, hippos and felines in general, making the stay even more authentic.
Sometimes finding them immediately, others after a long search.
In this way we saw extraordinary landscapes in their ordinariness, waiting for the great rains that will completely change the landscapes themselves, but in the end literally finding ourselves face to face with all the possible inhabitants of the area (the rare leopards, lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, and an infinite number of birds).
Moremi is the classic case which, at the end of the stay, causes the much famous "Africa sickness".
Absolutely worth visiting.

Moremi is unique. Nowhere else can you experience nature in its purest state. Not for the inexperienced. You need to plan every minute detail. There are no shops, no fuel, no mobile signal, no roads to speak of. A 4 x 4 vehicle is absolutely essential. Navigation can only be done using coordinates. A good satnav is vital. Wild animals WILL intrude in your campsite, including elephants, lions, hippos and hyenas. Be careful. The first night that I was in camp, a camper in another site was bitten by a hyena. Most of the campsites are remote from one another, secluded and private. Ablution blocks are good and clean. Hot water from solar power is available. The camp staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful Talk to them, they can give you much needed advice. After dark, it is dangerous to walk to the ablutions, if you have to go, drive there. all food and drinking water must be brought with you. Once in the Moremi, there are absolutely no supplies. Expect to average 6 to 10 mph when you travel. The so called roads are dreadful. It is rough and tough out there, but it is absolutely phenomenal, not to be missed. There are several companies offering fully equipped 4 x 4 vehicles for hire. Most of them are equipped with long-range fuel tanks, fresh water tanks, and fridge/freezers as well as being equipped with tents, bedding, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. There will always be extra equipment that you need to buy, including plastic containers for dry goods, butter, milk and other items. Glass bottles tend to get smashed on the rough roads and dry goods packets tend to burst, leaving a huge mess. PREPARATION is essential, think everything through carefully. Make sure that you have everything that you need for the duration of your stay, you won't get a second chance. Make sure that you have a very powerful torch, to survey the area around your camp at night. If there is anything there, you will see their eyes and you can retreat to safety. Make sure that you have enough batteries. IT IS THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME, don't miss it. You will need to book a year in advance.

We were actually at Moremi in May, at the end of their dry season before the rains come. We thought it might be easier to see the animals when there were fewer places for water, but our guide told us that regardless of the time of year, there is plenty of animals to see...and boy, was he right! We were there for three days, so we had a total of 6 drives and on each drive we had an amazing experience. From early morning lion kills of a zebra to the late afternoon elephant family playing with their kids in the mud, the viewing was some of the best we've ever had. Definitely will be going back!!

The Moremi is one of the special places on earth. The largest inland delta in the world never disappoints! The flora and fauna are indescribable! Enjoy!
