Srirangam is one of the famous temples of Vishnu, the preserver of the Universe. It's a very big temple with a grand canopy. When we visited there was a lot of crowd due to the season of pilgrimage in south India.

Lucky to have been to this temple. The architecture and grandeur of the temple is simply out of the world. Unbelievable that this structure could be built in those days with such precision and strength. The magnetic energy in the temple is only to be experienced first hand. A must visit.

Tamils believe that people suffering any illness should visit this temple, but there are many other worshippers too as the goddess here is considered to be very powerful. You should buy a VIP ticket to avoid the huge crowds. You might also need some help to understand the procedure to do the offering to the gods. There are many elderly poor people here. It might be nice to order some food parcels beforehand so that you can provide them with a decent meal. It’s a very crowded and busy place. Not for the faint hearted. Wandering around doesn’t really feature here. It’s a full on Indian experience.

Greetings from Prabha sreenivasan. We visited the Srirangam temple on September 3rd 2019. We stayed at Vignesh Residency, which is very close to the temple. So we had the advantage of going on 3 days to the temple and have darshan.
On day one...the guide Mr.Sharavanan took us round for 2.5 hours explaining the history and mythology of every hall..pillar and gopuram. ..As the grand finale we had darshan of Lord Ranganatha. He lies on the bed of snakes resting His head on a block that is used to weigh things. The snake heads are His canopy. Friends. .Ranga in many Indian languages means A stage. ..Natha means the Lord or the senior most ..So if all the world is a stage ..the Lord there is the Supreme. We were asked to first see to the right of the sanctum sanctorum. .where He rests His feet then move onto the left to see the Divine face.
Next day we went for the vishwaroopa darshan. ..all thanks to Mr.Sharavanan who had explained it all the previous night. At 5.30 or 6am we waited outside the sanctum sanctorum. ..the Lord was veiled with a curtain. An old man an ardent devotee sat outside with a veena in his hand and sang His praises...as though waking the Lord of the world to the new day. Later a cow horse and elephant were brought near the sanctum sanctorum. After that we were all let inside to pray and surrender at His lotus feet. A beautiful experience that lingers on even today. .
The Aandal story has fascinated me since childhood. Her temple is also inside the huge expansive area of the Srirangam temple. Beautifully adorned She resides in a sanctum sanctorum made of mirrors.
It was a blessed and prayerful trip.
Best to see the place with a guide like sharavanan or we will never know the little mysteries and stories these ancient stones hold.

המקום גדול ומעניין. יש להקצות לפחות שעה-שעה וחצי כדי לראות את כל מה שיש למקום להציע. אנחנו היינו שם בפברואר 2019 ומאד נהנינו

This is a beautiful colourful temple complex to the lord Vishnu. It was the first that we had seen and was very interesting. There are many temples here and disciples sleeping on the energy lines which pull them down. It it great to see groups of school children learning about their history, but make sure you take plenty of water as it does get very hot. This is a must see!

Magnificent temple, full of life and ceremonies every day. You can make the most of your visit to this temple and other wonderfuls of Trichy and surroundings hiring a local guide. We were two days with Saravonan and it was a great experience. Oficial guide, very nice person, with lots of information and happy to answer any question! He adapts the schedule to your interests.
