Vi elsket denne stranden. Det er rustikk og vakkert et flott sted å tilbringe dagen. Vi spiste lunsj i hytta, og det var deilig! Barna mine tok surfetimer der en dag og elsket det!

So pretty!

We love this beach! My daughter and hubby grab a surf board and go out on the water - the reef is right there so you do need water shoes - and me being the non water person of the family sits in the shade of the trees watching. Can get super busy, just take your picnic and lots of drinks and relax! Super pretty place.

Great Surfing, Beautiful Beach

Amazing surfing for beginners and experienced, good food options, beautiful, easy to get to from the main hotels of cabarete!

Best beach in the Puerto Plata area! Known primarily as a surfer beach, but the vibe here is cool for anyone who loves nature and a laid back place to enjoy the ocean. There is a shady area under a canopy of trees right up to the beach that allows you to get out of the sun when you need to, and within that are all the surf schools, the shops, and the cafes. The beach itself is beautiful although not really safe for swimming due to the strong currents that go hand in hand with the waves -- you can walk into the water a good ways but don't think you are going to practice your strokes here as you will get carried far off course. Get directions here from any local -- you just need to go down an unmarked dirt road across from Encuentro Surf Lodge and you will find a parking area steps from the action.

Surfing Heaven

What makes Encuentro Beach so perfect is the long shelf out to sea, the trade winds blow off the Atlantic and the waves are super reliable, but being able to walk out so far and having the waves break over a long distance makes this the perfect beginners place to start surfing.

Favorite beach on the island! fun winter surf, great expat community, tasty food in the beach shacks, Oceanfront bar and restaurant Coconuts,. Spending a month at a decent Airbnb. Super place to wait this rona garbage out!

Me invitaron a surfiar, el cual me encantó, este deporte extremo. Es muy divertido y agarrar, las olas es facinante, recomiendo llevar bebidas a su preferencia, fue una esperiencia hermosa, esperar el atardecer. La playa es muy segura. Y el panorama está rodeado de personas haciendo el kitesurf. Es una playa con olas fuertes, pero está de maravillas para los amantes del surf.

Don't miss it.

We loved this beach. It's is rustic and beautiful a great place to spend the day. We had lunch at the shack and it was delicious! My kids took surf lessons there one day and loved it!

Off the Beat Beach

This is a great beach because it feels remote. It is often too rough for swimming but loved by the sports lovers. Kind of fun to just sit and watch. If you like walking, a great walk to or from Cabarete. A few portages but mostly remote beach walking

This is the raw surfer / kiteboarding beach and I love it

Way less commercial than the surrounding beaches, but it has a cool vibe to it. Some food and drink options during the daytime but by and large, it's a great place to surf, kiteboard or just chill.

Perfect!

Loved the beach and the people who work there. I suggest you look for Roberto (Robbie) or Zion in particular for lessons if you need/want them. I met Zion in the water while he was giving instructions. He was really amazing working with a young girl pushing her to test her limits and encouraging her in very positive ways. I am not sure who he works for. Robbie is from Cabarete surf camp and he was the nicest guy to deal with. He is there until about noon every day when he moves over to teach kite surfing at another beach. He gave us the run down in the breaks making the experience of Encuentro one of the best. The vibes in the beach and in the water were all positive.
