Although I have been to Folkingham several times, I have never called in to the church to look round. What a little gem. The architecture includes Norman, Early English and Decorated styles of architecture. The north organ arch is 12th century probably the oldest part of the church. The aisles and choir stalls are 14th century while the tower is 15th century. Inside there are tributes to those who have fallen in WWI and WWII and WWI grave in the graveyard. Several marble monuments on the inside. Also on the inside are tracery windows, a sedilia and piscina. On the south side of the church are the remains of stocks and a whipping post. A very interesting visit.

A 14th Century Anglican Church with excellent carved wooden ceilings and rood-screen.
Well worth a visit if you're in Folkingham

What an amazing Church. The memorials are very fresh, and easy to read.
Lots of stained glass about, but the west window is absolutely stunning, and was described as " on of the best modern specimens of glass staining" in 1858.
The British Legion Chapel is lovely and very moving.
The ceilings are panelled and decorated with cross ribbing and carved bosses, so don't forget to look up. Also worth seeing is the copy of the Van Eyck triptych, "Adoration of the Lamb."

Folkingham is one of those perfect little villages you could easily drive through. It has a perfect village square, local store and the highlight is St Andrew's Church.
The church was built in the 14th century and is usually unlocked, allowing you to explore. Along the south wall behind the font is the old village stocks and whipping post. Another interesting feature is the British Legion Shrine, it is in a side chapel marked by a couple of military flags on the wall. It honours local people who died during the two world wars. There are a couple of grave's dating to the first world war in the churchyard. There was a strong military presence around the village with a number of now disused airbases.
