Norbulingka Institute in Dharamshala offers a cool ambiance and amazing vibes, providing a unique opportunity to learn and understand Tibetan culture. The presence of a monastery adds a spiritual touch, while the classy shopping centre inside the institute allows for a cultural shopping experience. The cool cafe complements the overall atmosphere, making it a delightful place to spend 2-3 hours exploring the diverse facets of this cultural haven. I found this to be the best place to visit in Dharamshala.

Excellent Darshan of lord Buddha but you have to climb a lot of stairs to get there. There are some disabled friendly ramps as well. Rs 50 ticket for entry. Have guided tour as well. Nice complex with working areas, doll house etc. Nice art gallery on top of the temple.
They have one cafe and one restaurant at entry. Had food at restaurant which was average and the waiters were clearly few, busy and with poor service and long wait times. Sad buffet was also available.

Avoid Sunday. Most of the museums are closed on Sunday. Spend some time - in the monestry. it feels good.

Must visit when in Mclead / Dharmshala. This is what Dalai Lama had when he was in Tibet and it was recreated beautifully and aesthetically in his new home town. We get to learn and understand the culture well in this place. Give yourselves 3 to 4 hours to get the best out of it, including the time for the wonderful shop inside and the cafe.

While going to Palampur from Dharamshala, we covered Norbulinka Institute. Serene, Peaceful & lush green environment has left me with sweet memories. Words are short to describe this beautiful place. Its a must visit place. Also try Norbulinka cafe for delicious deserts & cold coffee.

This was the highlight of my trip to Dharamshala. Beautiful grounds, serene atmosphere and they have various workshops for Tibetan art and craft. Especially liked the Thangka painting studio - the commitment to craft and uplifting local Tibetan people is amazing. The monastery also has a souvenir store which has high quality merchandise (paintings, apparel, mementos etc.)
We also really enjoyed eating authentic Tibetan momos at the Norling restaurant.
Would highly recommend visiting this place on your trip.

Sorry to know that. The environment and ambience of over all that area is very calming and it does leave an impact if one spend some considerable time there - there are many monasteries there that can help but you need to talk to them directly and they may have some more queries to consult you better.

Divine Hima is very good hotel near norbulingka- by walk you reach in 5-10 mins. I stayed there and it was very good experience- for any future visits @dharamshala - it will be my first choice.

It’s a paid visit, if I remember right it’s around Rs.40. Per person. It includes a free guide to take you through all the sections, wood craft, painting, metal craft, doll museum, the temple, cloth patch work, etc. where you can see artisans at work.

Hi,
Mc Leod Gunj is the area where you need to be if you want to see places. Norbulingka Institute where the Norling House is in Dharashala which is 20 - 30 minutes car-ride to Mc Leod Gunj and far removed from the buzz. Its quiet and nothing to see apart from the institute. After having been there, i would recommend you to plan your stay at Mc Leod Gunj instead of Dharamshala. You can consider staying in Dharamshala if you plan to do a Tibetan craft workshop at Norbulingka. However, the amenities at Norling House leaves a lot to be desired. Hence, not recommended.

HI Venkat,
The Norbulingka Institute is open from 9am to 6pm. The tour will take you about 30 - 40 minutes and totally worth your time if you'd like to appreciate Tibetan art and culture. They have a free tour guide of the institute. The free tour is not available on Sunday however, the campus is open for tourists on Sunday as well.
