The museum contains several articles made by tribal people in Madhya Pradesh. The items are exhibited in an orderly manner. Overall, it was a satisfactory tour of the museum

Right next door to the poorly cared for state museum, this is a must see for all visitors to Bhopal. Walk through the impressive entrance and prepared to be wowed. So much work and effort has gone into presenting the individual characteristics of tribes indigenous to the state. Recreations of village home life, beautiful representations of creation and other stories- truly wonderful. A little more lighting in some areas would have allowed closer examination of some exhibits. However, the explanations in Hindi and English were excellent. A huge space that flows well and easily accommodates a large number of people. And the food they serve in their comfortable eating area complements the village feel. This is the kind of museum you can easily revisit.

Pl give at least half day if you want to see it fully. Place closed at 5.30 pm.

The museum has a huge collection of tribal artefacts, all created on the spot by the artists - or so we were told. The display, however, was not to my liking. The lights are dim and colored, and the ambience could be scary to some.

An unexpected diamond! A museum that deserves to win prices. Well maintained and beautiful display of homes of different tribes in the State, artifacts, stories told in creative ways. They have used the available space (very high ceilings) very well. I could have walked around, entering houses, climbing the different structures, for hours. Very nice display of traditional children games.

I have no words to describe the museum!!!
I have been to quite a few but nothing prepared me for this. I was completely taken by surprise right from the moment I stepped into it.
Unlike other museums, a tribal museum needs to understand and project all aspects of tribal life while at the same time presenting it to us in a way that we understand and respect.
Recognizing that tribal cultures in India are passed on from generation to generation, the museum has showcased the 7 tribes of MP - Gond, Bhil, Baiga, Sahariya, Korku, Bharia, and Kol.
Unlike a typical boxed and boring display of artifacts, documents, etc, we were catapulted into a dreamy world of colors and artwork that if I may say so put me into a trance. Never had I seen anything like it.
Each gallery was superb and every aspect of tribal life and aesthetics was brilliantly depicted.

I truly believe that the way they lived was so much more progressive and respectful than how we live. And I am happy to note that they still follow these practices in a few places.

Indigenous communities the world over have always known how to blend belief with their traditional knowledge, draw aesthetics from things that are found around them, and live in harmony with nature.
Respecting each and everything that is part of their daily life - trees, pots and pans, animals, etc is something that we can imbibe in our day.

And the philosophy of communion is seen everywhere. From courtyard paintings to wedding ceremonies and to other festive occasions it’s everywhere.
Everything that they did and everything that was there, was there for a reason. Nothing seemed out of place.

If I may add I think they were a much more evolved society and we have a lot to learn from them.
Walking out of the museum, was like walking out of a dream. A dream that till today has mesmerized me. It was a surreal experience - one that I will cherish for years.

This is one of the excellent and different sort of museum. It presents you the lifestyle and culture of tribal people. Tickets are Rs.10 per head and Rs.50 per mobile camera. They do provide card which you need to wear if you want to take pics with mobile.

When you enter inside you will feel like you have entered into some Tribal community village. They have done amazing setup of their houses, their day to day use equipment's, their culture, their marriages etc.

They have different areas created for showing Tribal life and their festivals. One needs to walk inside as well as need to climb few steps to explore the houses, mandaps and view points.

I loved the way they have created full moon and trees. This place is not be missed when you are in Bhopal. Go there and understand about Tribal Community.

Note: Ample parking space available inside museum for your cars.
