One the real 'hidden gems' of the Norfolk (and English) countryside. It is a very old English priory which went to rack and ruin after the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII, but has since been loving restored and is now a functioning church again.

The English countryside is not short of old churches to look at, but trust me, this is a good one. Crammed full of history, and beautifully restored - but not in such a way that masks its lengthy history.

The church itself is left open during normal daylight hours and you can go in and wander around. There is no charge (although there is a donation box), and it is well worth a visit for an hour if you are in the area.

Substantial ruins of the priory and an intact church make this worth a visit. The church has a display of artefacts found, copious information boards and some lovely details. There are also information boards around the ruins.

The ruins are open dawn to dusk. The church 10 - 5 with at least one service on Sundays. Plenty of car parking. In the car park there is also a self serve dairy farm shop.

Interesting mix of a working church with the remains of what was once a far larger Priory. Easy parking and just off a road leaving Bingham this free site is well worth stopping off to see.

Lovely peaceful place to visit in the heart of Norfolk. Free to visit and worth an hour or more of your time.

The Little Dairy Shop next door is not to miss.

This is a stunning site, which clearly evidences the after effects of Henry V111's Dissolution of the Monasteries. The Nave remains as the Parish Church and is testament to the perseverance and hard work of the local population.
It is a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit.

Free parking.
Toilet in the church.
Farm shop selling a variety of things including raw milk and beverages.
We bought some jams and have tried two of them and they are delicious.
The Norman Church was also lovely. Still in use. The architecture still remains and it was interesting to note the earlier Norman arches, all with individual carvings, and the slightly later arches added towards the end of the construction. Lots of information inside the church itself.
The priory ruins are interesting but the rooms were not clearly identified as to their use.
It is a lovely place to visit on a warm sunny day like we did. Picnic benches alongside the carpark but the lawned areas would make for a great place to sit too.
Well worth a visit if you are interested in that sort of thing.

whilst walking between villages we came across this EH site. It is so beautiful nestled in the village on Binham, and a very quiet place to wonder around as the monks did.

Lovely place to wander about. We also got rather addicted to the raw milk and at the end of our holiday, stopped off for cheese and butter and jam. What is there not to like.
