If you have a chance to visit this winery it is a must. The views are amazing! The wines with the food pairing was excellent. It is by appointment only so you do need to call. I was lucky enough to go on a Tuesday and we were the only couple there! Would definitely go back if given the chance.

Beautiful place!, But the food was small, mediocre at best. The host did not explain any of the wines and the regions, nor the food! We were in and out of there less than an hour, we felt rushed!!

It is quite an adventure to travel to this winery. It was absolutely beautiful the whole way. We had a wonderful tasting paired with small bites, which were quite tasty. We enjoyed the wine enough to buy a bottle of Chardonnay, Pinot, and a Pinotage. They are pet friendly and kindly provided a water bowl for our pups. Recommend making a reservation to stop by here if you are in the area.

Great views with tremendous wines! Our host, Jamie was fantastic! The drive up the coast was beautiful!

We came here for the views and were not disappointed. The setting for this winery is truly beautiful. From the winery's perch high up on the hillside, you'll have sweeping views of the Jenner coastline.
The tasting though was just average and I thought the wines were just okay. To be fair though, I'm not the biggest Pinot fan. The wines were just a bit thin and lacked the depth I typically look for in my favorite wines.
The food pairing was a really nice touch, though I wish they had suggested which items on our plate would go best with each pour.

Really not sure why this place had such high ratings. I visited Fort Ross on a Friday afternoon because of the great reviews and ocean views I heard about online. Robert our wine pourer couldn't have been more uninterested- and we were the only ones tasting! Total snooze. I had to ask Robert to tell me about the wines. Didn't even ask if we wanted to take home any wine and he mumbled a lot. Didn't smile once, incredibly uninterested and he should really just not have come into work that day. I certainly will not be returning and hope that others consider going elsewhere if they want to spend a nice bit of their afternoon at a winery. Generously offering 2 stars because of the interesting maps on the wall and wine quality.

Beautiful drive up to an absolutely stunning vineyard. We found the wines to be very tasty and received very attentive service and a description of each wine and how it was corked. A must do while in the area.

Our group of 6 decided on a road trip and some wine tasting due to heavy rain that made hiking a less than favorable option. So we Googled wineries and decided to drive up the coast to this lovely location.
$25 per person tasting fee
Waived if you purchase 2 or more bottles which range in price from $48 to $89 a bottle.
We purchased the Chardonnay for our evening crab feed, and their fruit forward Pinot. Their tasting room person was pleasant and conversant.

We visited this lovely winery March 2019. Greeted warmly and tasted beautiful pinot noirs. Bought some wine and loved every sip.

We made the trip up to Fort Ross with high expectations. The drive up was indeed beautiful and the grounds, building and patio were splendid. However the actual wine tasting experience was sub-par. Perhaps two young women who helped us were new. Their knowledge of the wines and the history of the vineyard (which I now have learned is pretty interesting given its unique location) was spotty at best. When I asked why the owners had chosen to place their winery high up on the coast and away from the normal Sonoma terroir, they didn't know. When I inquired how/why they had 6 different Pinot Noirs from a single vintage from just 55 acres of vines, they struggled to explain. We were similarly left wondering when we asked details about the their South African style Pinotage. The charge for the tasting is $25 per person which you can have waived with a purchase of two bottles. We were given 5 different wines to taste. Unfortunately we were not particular fans of any of them. We did share a $25 charcuterie plate which was very nice. Overall, our party agreed that while we didn't personally love the wines and the tasting was not up to what we had experienced in other wineries, the unique and lovely setting went a long way towards leaving us with a good impression.
