We stopped at the lake to kayak and paddle board. It felt like we had the lake to ourselves. It was gorgeous!

Small campground, huge payoff. I stopped by here on the way to bodie. Small and simple, the host is very knowledgeable & the fishing is awesome, I’ll be back.

从优胜美地开车沿路过来,无意中找到这里,很是宁静,湖水很清澈,九月底过来,湖水还是有点凉凉的!傍晚时候有点冷!

As the others have written, this is a wonderfully small campground with fewer than 2 dozen sites. The proximity to the creek is enticing, however is also offset by the hordes of Mosquitoes 'in season' so be prepared....
There is simply so much to enjoy in this majestic location that you will likely finding that you will need, and want, to come back in order to enjoy the area to it's fullest.
Saddlebag Lake, Twenty Lakes, Bennetville, Mono Lake, Tioga Pass Road, Tioga Pass Resort, Tioga Lake, Yosemite, Tuolumne Meadows, Dana Meadows, Tenaya Lake and all of the various hiking trails and destinations within 10 to 15 miles of this area. Venture further out on the way to or from this area and there is Mono Lake, Bodie, June Lakes Loop, Mammoth Lakes and soooo much more.
Get out and explore and enjoy!

This is in the top 3 best campgrounds I've ever been to. It is small, 12 or 14 sites, i don't recall the exact number, but if you can get a spot here, it is amazing. Just about every spot borders part of the creek, so you can hear running water in your tent as you fall asleep, which I love. You are at a very high elevation, so be ready to feel a little short of breath/light headed, if you are from sea level like me, when you do physical activity at first. The elevation though means you have unbelievable night sky for stargazing. Seriously there are so many stars it is hard to spot constellations because there are so many more stars than most people get to see normally. You are only a few miles east of Yosemite, and to the east, you can go check out mono lake, really cool but i'd go towards sunset to try getting a nice sunset photo. Bring your hammock, a book, and a blanket depending on when you go, and setup between two trees overlooking the lake and/or snow capped mountains, you can't/won't be disappointing here.!

Ellery Lake is such a hidden gem. It's a beautiful lake with excellent fishing and boating. It's located very close to Lee Vining and is really easy to get to. This is a must visit spot on your way to Yosemite.

On our most recent family vacation we visited this location to do some afternoon fishing. This is a terrific spot to camp, hike, fish, or get some photos. Ellery Lake sits at the top of Tioga Pass road as you're heading west up towards Yosemite from Lee Vining. As you crest the pass, a bit of 9,100 feet, Ellery will be on the south side of Highway 120 nested in the saddle between Tioga Peak on the north and Mt Dana to the south.
If you're planning on using the campground, the grounds are on the west side of the lake. There are 20 or so spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations. I think the fee was $21 per night as the of the date of this review. It's a smaller campground but it does have standard vault toilets and potable water.
If you'd like to do some fishing and hiking, there's a pull-out on the south side of Highway 120 right up against the lake and just east of the campgrounds. It'll handle about five or six cars. From there, you can hike down to the lake and do some fishing or walk around the lake and get some awesome photos of the area.
As you can see, access to this location is easy as it's right off of 120. Don't rush by this location. Highway 120 is one of those drives where the journey is the destination. Take you time and drop by here. Stretch your legs and get some photos of some of the most beautiful areas on earth.
For you fishermen, the lake is planted regularly by the CA DFG.
For you geocachers, there are a whole bunch of caches along Highway 120 between Lee Vining and the east entrance to Yosemite and several along Ellery Lake.
Definitely take the time to stop here!

Do you think I will find a camping spot 9/28/18 and 9/29/18 if I get there in the early am on Friday?
