If you are in Lodi or Stockton make time to come here! This Museum has several buildings, and outdoor equipment is scattered throughout the property.. We went on a blusterly day and did not walk around outside very much, but we went in all the buildings. Allow a minimum of two hours just for a quick walk through the buildings. On a great weather day you could spend hours here and in the rest of the park. Take a picnic lunch with you and plan a full day outing for the family. Parking to get into the park is $5.00. Museum entry is per person, max of $5.00 each. We Seniors paid $8.00 for both of us. The Museum staff were personable and very knowledgeable, and we learned a great deal about San Joaquin County and the settling of California

I visited with my teenage boys (11 and 13) and they really enjoyed it. The only disappointment was that the gold panning was closed weekday. We had the place to ourselves which was really nice too! We have learnt a lot and the new exhibit is fantastic.

So much Central Valley History all in one place. I was blown away to find that this place right in my own back yard. If you love history and your coming to this area you owe it to yourself to spend a half day exploring here. Wonderful exhibit!

This is by far the best small or "local" type museum I have ever visited, and I have experienced them from Cape Cod all across the United States and throughout California.
It tells the whole history of Captain Weber and the founding of Stockton (which is a LOT more interesting than I thought it would be!), and that's just in the first of ten or so buildings.
They have the biggest tool collection west of the Mississippi--thousands of tools of ALL sorts, carriages, combines, the entire history of agriculture in the county shown in various videos of highly professional quality, a fully functional original 1866 schoolhouse (Calaveras School), a REMARKABLE collection of fully restored tractors from early 1900's through the 1950's, early furniture, a 1930 mint Franklin sedan...on and on!! Thousands of thing to see! even a Critter Corral petting zoo in the summer.
It's great for kids! They can even ring a cable car bell (cast in the county). You owe yourself and your kids a trip in Micke Grove and this sparkling gem of a museum complex.

We visited this museum from out of state while visiting family in the area. Great museum. We learned a lot about the area. The kids enjoyed the hands on exhibits and all the cool tractors!

Great, lots of really interesting exhibits. Even the ladies at our hotel didn't know it existed though!? My husband could have spent the whole day looking at their extensive exhibits. Ladies at visitor center couldn't have been more helpful or enthusiastic.

There are different areas, from an indoor museum with interesting exhibits, to old buildings, nature trails and outdoor exhibits including an old one room school house. There is a nice little gift shop and the whole area is very visitor friendly.
It is located inside of a park with plenty of picnic sites for individuals or large groups, playgrounds, water activity, a zoo, and even a small amusement park. It is a great place to spend the day.

This extensive museum covers many aspects of local history, from native Americans through white settlement, the gold rush , to farming and famous people with up to date and fascinating exhibits. We spent two hours but could have spent the day.

We very much enjoyed visiting the San Joaquin Museum in Lodi. It is very large and fun to see. We were there over two hours as so much to see.
There is a pioneer building that describes the pioneers who came to Lodi. There are various home things to see in the building.
Then comes the farming equipment buildings. There is all kind of farm equipment there. There are also old trucks and cars. One building is dedicated to tractors.
There are various historic buildings such as:
Charles Weber Cottage (1847)
Calaveras School (1866)
Blacksmith Shop
Julia Weber House (1892)
There is the Flame Tokay Grape Vines (1922) which was planted by the philanthropist
We were there when they had a pioneer day for the children. As such, staff members were showing them how to pan for gold; make cookies; do black smithing; and so forth. It was fun to see them dressed up for the event.
There is also exhibits on the Native American (Yokut and Miwok) in the area.
There is also a small gift store. This is also where one pays for admission which was very reasonable at $5 given the amount of things to see.
The web site for the museum is also quite good to check as they do special events during the year. They also have special exhibits and more.
We thought it would be a short stop but spent over two hours there. As such, we have rated it a five star (excellent) museum and well worth visiting if interested in history.
Staff is very helpful in telling one about the place, what to see, and answering any questions one might have.
