It is a good hike. The views are great, you are out of the city to end in great falls where the view is incomparable. On the way back, the road is out on a steep, sandy, rocky hill. It is recommendable to bring some snacks. You will need them to have the energy to hike back from the canyon, which may be the hardest part of the hike.

Very beautiful hike! Because of recent rain the falls were full of water and lots of beautiful desert flowers.
Also, because of recent rain, there were patches with poison oak so be careful of green leafy things.
A 2+ mile descent to the falls that gets a little technical, especially as you get lower and closer to the falls. Some steep areas as you ascend back up the same trail but not too bad.
Watch out for the weather, especially with dogs, it’s the desert! Bring plenty of water, sun protection and a walking stick if you please.
Very rough dirt road coming in from the south! About nine miles of it. Turned around last week in the Honda Fit and came back this week in the Subaru Baja. Great decision.
Get there soon. Well worth it! Wait too long and you’ll just be hiking to a dry river bed.

Se convirtió en uno de mis lugares para hiking favoritos en el área, al final un clavado a la cascada y regresar fresco.

The unfortunate truth is that some great trip are not friendly for everyone. The great thing is that the trail and the drive to get to it are fantastic. The scenery is great, you are out of the city, the locale isn't overly developed unlike the majority of SoCal destinations. That said, it comes with the fact that many visitors come unprepared - lacking water, lacking the required endurance to finish the uphill trip, lacking the foresight to know what the weather will entail.
When it rains, the falls flow with water and it creates an awesome basin and waterfall at the end of the trail. This is great when your goal is to get there. But for many, they lack the climbing skills and physique to climb up out the valley when a significant stretch of the uphill is loose steep soil. When it begins to warm up, rather than walking downhill, the heat will bear down on you as you struggle uphill. It is essentially a trap for the unfit. Consequently, this has led to dozens of air rescues over the years. On my first trip, I had given two individuals spare water as they clearly had begun to suffer heat exhaustion.
So please, please, do not go without the propper footwear and preparation. This is a fun trip and it's pleasantly challenging, but do not risk yourself and others coming unprepared.

If you read my previous review, you may have been discouraged from visiting Three Sisters Falls during certain periods of the year. During the dry months, unless you are training for a tour of duty in the Middle East, it's true, I'd recommend somewhere else. (But read on...)
That being said, when water is flowing, this hike is wonderful on so many levels. It's greener than normal, which adds so much enjoyment for nature lovers like myself. You could take a big group but you'll be going much slower because there are sections where it's basically one at a time. I'd say a group of 4 or 5 is ideal.
There are a few challenging sections that - if you are like me - make this hike so much fun. I mean, don't be careless. There are sections that can be very dangerous. But don't let that stop you. There is something about synergizing with nature and overcoming obstacles that surpasses pride and reaches you on a different level. Testing and breaking through one's limits provides a sense of accomplishment that is, in my opinion, one of the best "highs" in this life.
The waterfall is the cake on top of the cake (not a typo). There's even a section to swim and, though cold, it is very refreshing, depending on the weather. At the right time of year, provided the drought is diminishing, this hike is more than worth it. Take advantage of it as soon as you get the opportunity!

This hike was far too dry to really enjoy. It's a good workout but I felt like I was overheating, the breeze you get in the valley is hotter than no breeze at all, apparently you can get poison oak or something on the trail, and did I mention it was dry? I'm gonna go back in the winter when, hopefully, there will be water and much cooler. Wasn't even worth taking a picture this time.

Let start out with saying, this trail is challenging! I'm not a big hiker to begin with, so taking on this trail really tested my physical and mental capabilities. Make sure you have plenty of water on hand and some durable hiking shoes. To emphasize the risks, helicopters periodically fly through canyons to rescue hikers who couldn't finish or stumbled off the steep mountainside.
Now that you're aware of the risks, the hike is a lot of fun! You will be, at different points, sliding down a mountainside, climbing up boulders, walking underneath a canopy of trees, splashing through shallow rivers, and finally making it to the waterfall at the very end. If the hike itself wasn't thrilling enough, the waterfall at the end is well worth the climb. This is about a 4-5 hour hike, so plan accordingly.

Please be prepared for this adventure:
-bring at least one liter of water per person
-trail shoes are NEEDED!
-trekking poles recommended
The trail starts off easily with beautiful scenery. Then it becomes very steep uphill, just before becoming VERY steep downhill. Many people end up going down this part on their booties. If you have the correct shoes & trekking poles to aid in balance, you can manage it without a dirty butt. The falls were dry when I visited, but still a wonderful site.
I would strongly recommend not bringing your pet on this hike. You will definitely end up carrying it through sections that require climbing.
Happy hiking ;)
