I’d have to agree with WorldTravelDB’s review of Inglenook. It’s sad that after fighting so hard and long to get the name “Inglenook” Francis Ford Coppola’s flagship winery’s reputation is being ruined by a pretentious and rude staff. I’ll never return or by the wines again.

I’ve been to Inglenook previously; hence the return. We stopped by for lunch with wines because they advertised a bistro….which it doesn’t even come close to the definition of one. It was basically 1 type of salami, a few cheeses and crackers. A poor take on several of the charcuterie boards I had at other wineries in Napa valley.

When I discussed my disappointment with the staff and suggested they might want to refine the name to what was on offer he condescendingly said “we’ll next time I see Francis I’ll let him know.” (There was no sincerity in his voice.) In our discussion over what was offered at other wineries he referred to one as a refugee camp on weekends. It’s the first time I’ve ever experienced a reputable winery dissing another like trash or referring to paying customers as refugees.

Certainly the low point for my week in Napa and there are plenty of other good wineries to take refuge in.

Inglenook does produce good wines, and it is owned by a famous Hollywood director. That’s about all this place has going for it. Like a movie set, the picturesque buildings and grounds are only picturesque from the front. Inside the staff is snotty, indifferent and, frankly, not very good at their jobs. The museum is a tribute to ego rather than being informative and educational. Their write ups lavishly imagine beautiful strolls around the quaint beauty of a French estate, but there's frankly nowhere to go. Like a movie set, Inglenook is compelling from only one angle, and it’s a very narrow angle.

If you want to sit in a mock French garden and pay retail for wine and mediocre food along with spiel so worn thin that it sounds like an infomercial, then Inglenook is the place for you. If want to leave knowing less about the wine than when you arrived, you'll love it.

If not, then buy a bottle of your favorite Inglenook wine, go to your favorite park, and you'll have a much better time.

p.s. Even though they invite you to stroll around, what they really mean is that if you walk anywhere but in the exact front of the building a rude employee will shout at you.

I can’t say enough about this place! Definitely best kept secret! The people here are so kind our visit was just unforgettable!
David assisted our party and was witty and super knowledgeable. If we didn’t have our little one there we would have loved to listen to the history of this beautiful winery.
You do have to make a reservation and note that vaccination is required currently, which we much appreciated to have a piece is mind they are doing everything they can to keep their staff and guests safe.
We wish we had more time as they had an innovation museum inside that we did not manage to visit. If you come around oct time they have tons of pumpkins in fountains and next to the bistro. Absolutely beautiful.
You cannot leave without enjoying a glass of Rubicon. One of our favorite winery in Napa now, both because of the amazing staff and beautiful landscape.

We booked Bistro visit and expected a good wine and some lunch. So, to start with the wine- glass of Syrah, $16 glass/$65 bottle and glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, $25 glass/$100 bottle. Of course it’s not terribly expensive, but you would expect somewhat decent wine, right? No, both were not. Don’t know if the wine itself is not that good, or they opened bottles 2-3 days ago, but it was bad enough for us not to finish our glasses. Now, the Bistro- there was practically nothing to eat, except some cheap salami, some cheap cheese and… wait, that’s pretty much it. They serve sandwiches Fri- Sun, and we visited on Thursday, but there is nothing like a menu on their website, so at least you know what you are getting. Why do they call the place Bistro? The service was almost nonexistent ( we asked for items that never arrived ). The location, scenery and the building are nice, but there is an abundance of excellent places in the valley , so don’t waist your time and money and go some place else.

After showing our vaccine cards at the front desk, we were allowed to look around the beautiful historic winery and, of course the gift shop. Part museum, part movie memorabilia, and largely a huge beautiful winery. We stopped for a quick bite and some wine sampling outside. For us, we split a Muffaletta $8 (too much bread) and Lemon Shortbread Cookies $6.50 (really good).

Went here for a tasting. AWESOME! We ended up getting the 1884 a s gift from Intimate Wine Tours, but the Rubicon was fantastic, though pricey. All the wines were delicious. The garden area at the top of the hill was very peaceful relaxing and we could have sat there for another hour and just sipped o wine and talk to the nice woman that was our host. We also got the muffaletta sandwich that Susan at Intimate Wine Tours arranged for us. Will definitely go back for the wine and the experience! Pretty grounds to walk around. Highly recommend!

We went for the bistro experience so it was like a-la-carte tasting. We tried their Rubicon (twice) and it was great. We toured the old caves and Francis Coppola exhibitions and it was very good. They have a car on the second floor and many other cool stuff you can see. The bar tender/barista gentleman was very professional and provided excellent service. Totally recommended.

Inglenook was our second winery on our second day in Napa Valley. It is a really nice winery in that you can wander the (beautiful) grounds and explore the inside as well. There is a museum, robust shop, and even a little cafe, although we didn't order anything.

We arrived a bit early for our reservation, but that was no problem and they got us in right away. The server was knowledgeable, friendly and had great timing when bringing over the next sample. It was also the only winery we visited where we had a Syrah, which was a bit different and added some variety from the pinots and cabs we had been trying!

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

We recently were in Napa with three other couples and visited nine wineries. We had some health issues that forced us to cancel some people. Inglenook was the only one that did not allow us to cancel all the reservations. They cancelled two of the three that could not attend. Also, they were the only winery that did not waive tasting fees with wine purchases. This was the only winery that made us feel that winemaking was a business - not a passion. The memorabilia was cool, but not worth it. Other wineries that gave us a far better experience include DR Stephens, St. Helena, Sodhani, Reverie II, Pride, Kenzo and Odette. Also the picnic lunch at Domain Chandon.
