We just had the best experience at Quintessa! Lisa was our host for our tasting. So informative & wonderful personality! We could not have asked for a better day with amazing wine & a beautiful location! Highly recommend!

This past weekend we had a fabulous wine tasting with Susan at Quintessa. The wines, the views, the setting and personal attention was incredible. The tasting in the glass tasting rooms was so cool. Susan did an excellent job with explaining everything and was patient with our questions and stories. We greatly appreciated that. I highly recommend doing this tasting on your next trip to Napa Valley. Cheers!

Both this wine and this winery are beyond exceptional! My husband and I are here for an anniversary trip and we did the private Quintessential Experience. We arrived at the estate and our guide Paul drove us through the estate on a golf cart, giving us details on the history of the property, the owners, and the wine. He drove us up to a private pavilion with beautiful views of the vineyard and the lake and poured us our first sample. In addition to the current wine, we got to try barrel samples and one from their library of previous years. After that, he drove us back down to the main building where he poured us two more samples from past years. Be warned, the “tastings” are VERY generous pours. Definitely a favorite of the trip and worth the splurge.

We reserved a tasting and had a fantastic time. We were treated great and got to taste some great wine. We took a tour of the Winery and saw some great views. Recommend highly.

We reserved the Private Quintessential Experience, after arriving we were greeted by our host Paul and given the choice to walk or take a jeep like vehicle to the top of the hill where we would have our tasting. We were so glad that we chose to walk, we learned a lot about this unique winery: their organic farming practices, there are 230 acres with different climates & soil, a lake and all sorts of wildlife. We stopped along the way to see hawk and owl boxes and the views. The wine tasting was in our private open air pavilion at the top of the hill overlooking vineyards and a lake, very pretty. We had a nice plate of cheeses, nuts, meats, figs and crackers to enjoy during our flight of six wines. We enjoyed our tour, tasting and the wine so much that we joined their club and ordered wine to be shipped home. This was one of our favorite winery experiences.

We decided to visit here because we saw the movie Wine Country I tried to book the cave tour, but they could not do one of those the only day we were able to visit. The lady told me she would put it in our notes to quickly go down to see them when we arrived.
It was a beautiful entrance, the tasting room itself was ok as far as design and ambiance. I really enjoyed the personalized greeting card in our tasting booklet with our names. The guy that did our tasting seemed dry and blunt, not very personable. Here's the wine, here's the notes, then awkward silence. The wines we had weren't anything to call home about, and I was shocked to see that they were only on the purchase sheet by way of 3 packs, which started at over $600. When we asked, we were told we could purchase single bottles. For whatever reason, we ended up purchasing 2 of them at $400. We'll let them sit a while and see how they age.
We asked about the caves and the note in the reservations. All we got was, "Sorry, we are not touring the caves right now." He continued to tell us it looked like we had some time left and he would get the golf cart and take us around the vineyard for a special tour. He acted like this was to make up for the caves, however, we noticed their staff did this with everyone after their tasting.
All in all, this place mirrored Opus 1 in disappointment. Overpriced wines, uninterested staff, and just an awkward visit all around. I wouldn't come back here at all.

Visiting quintessa was a great decision. From the aesthetically pleasing layout and design of the winery to the tranquil views, Quintessa provided a solid and well-rounded experience. Our host Susan was extremely knowledgeable and made our group feel like we were at home. I will definitely be coming back.

What a gorgeous place! Acres and acres of beauty and a lovely tasting room. Definitely need a reservation. Highly recommend!

While the property is pretty, the wine is so so at best. Our host eventually spent some time with us, but we felt like we were a bother. For 95 per person tasting, we were hoping for a great experience and wine and it did not deliver.

We visited here with friends. Appointment required. Awesome wines. Beautiful property. Nice tasting room. Ashlyn was an excellent hostess. Highly recommended.

i do not the size that they can take but based upon my two visits and coming from entertaining at the Corp level. Quintessa would be a great choice

We will be staying at the Union Square in San Francisco, is there any mode of transportation (tour shuttle, etc) that you can recommend? We are not renting a car. What is the most convenient way to have a round trip on a shuttle etc?

Well, Quintessa is pretty high end, so they aren't visited by most of the group tour busses. You could get a ferry from the City to Vallejo and get a (pre-arranged) semi-private group tour of a few wineries from there. A number of local companies do those (Dynamic Tours, CWT, Napa Valley WT, etc).
But the best option, if you really want to go to Quintessa, is to call one of the companies above (or Beau Wine Tours), and have them send a car to pick you up in the City, do a full day's wine tour with you, and take you back to the City at the end of the day.
Expensive, but probably worth it.
(BTW, there are other wineries in Napa and Sonoma that are well worth the visit!)
