Since it has been many years for my last visit here, a friend and I chose to include this park in our itinerary, especially knowing Cedar Fair has sold the park and will close it in ten years or less.

The park was not crowded, and we got many coaster rides. Rerides are allowed up to twice in a row if your seat will be empty on the next ride cycle.

A couple rides were down for maintenance and refurbishment. The operating rides seemed to be in good condition. Line cutting was a bit of a problem, even on a low-crowd day.

Midway were clean. Employees were friendly enough.

Food prices were high, typical of most amusement parks. The park is cashless, and management wants guests to order food on kiosks. Bad idea. You need human interaction here. Some guests have food allergies and need to make sure they won't get food that will harm them (example - daily allergies can't have cheeseburgers. But no hamburger option....). On this day, the kiosks were covered up, so we had to order in person. Only problem, there was no menu listed food options nor prices. Okay....it's a chicken place. Dobyou have nuggets, strip, sandwiches, or all? For kids with a prepaid card, there is no way for them to know if they have enough on the card until the end. Come on, Cedar Fair. I expect better from you.

Cedar Fair has adopted a policy that guests under 15 must have a chaperone over the age of 21 with them after like 5:00. This policy was instated to cut down on unruly, unsupervised kids, but it didn't seem to be enforced. Luckily, most of the kids under 15 without supervision seemed to be behaving. Not all of them was, though. Policies look good in print, but they must be enforced to be effective. Just saying.

I give my visit a grade of B. If you have not been here before, please visit soon. It will not be here much longer, according to Cedar Fair management.

I went during the peanuts celebration for a Saturday I sadly didn't see too many characters walking around. The shows were nice and I was able to ride many of the planet snoopy rides.

While visiting my grandchildren in Palo Alto we decided to visit this amusement park
I love the Peanuts characters so that in itself made it pretty fun my true only complaint is that I went to ride a ride with my granddaughter and I had to take my prescription glasses off this was a small ride and I saw no reason for it. I'm pretty much blind without them and this was very uncomfortable. I understand a hat or something that might fly off but seriously prescription glasses . This is only park this has ever happened at and I've been to many. I didn't ride any more rides that day. A fun place for kids though.

I have been visiting Great America since 1996, except for the Pandemic time and also, except for last year. They always had a room with snacks and soft drinks for the teachers and chaperones... This year, they didn't and I found out by a colleague that last year they did not have the Teacher's Lounge either.
In addition, this year, they have reduced the hours; the park opens now at 11:00 AM.
With approximately 3,000 employees, the reduction of hours means they are saving some money and with the snacks and drinks not being offered for chaperones and teachers, they are saving some money too...
This year the "All-you-can-eat" was a great deal. They had hot dogs/sausages, hamburguers, soda, ice cream, and salad. For the food, I have to say that it was great.
Place was very clean and kids seemed they had lots of fun.
The process to buy the tickets was a bit complicated this year. In the past, a pdf form was completed online, printed and a credit card payment or a check would secure the tickets being sent in the mail. This year, they added an online purchase with a limited "15 tickets" as a minimum or in multiples of 15. This was later corrected, thanks to conversation I had on the phone with a gentleman from "Group sales" who was very helpful.
Overall, seing the big smiles on the kids was great. (I took 84 High School students and 5 chaperones).
Be aware that "Group tickets" is the best value and they offer one free chaperone ticket for every 15 you buy. Buying tickets at the door is more expensive. Also, to buy group tickets, one has to do it 3 weeks in advance.

Many rides, attractions, and concessions were shut down and not operational throughout the day. Several rides would shut down, and staff would rotate to other rides to operate, so there was a chance you could ride some that were shut down earlier in the day. There was a sign out front that said "limited operation" and they really meant it; not because they are only open on weekends but operationally in general. We managed to cobble together a fun day, spending most of the time in the little kid area (Peanuts), and riding a couple of the big coasters that were running. Fun? Yes. Worth the cost of admission? Decidedly no.

We only had a few hours because we went on a Sunday and they opened at 12:00. We wanted to rest before Elton John concert. Anyway, we planned to only go on the thrilling rides. The park is a little difficult to navigate. Harder to figure out than Disneyland and map helped only a little. But we made it to all the big rides because the lines weren't that long. They always seemed to be longer after we got off. The best rides were the Rail Blazer and Flight Deck. Those were so good. But they're all really short. The app kept saying the wait times were 90 minutes, but in truth it was only 5 minutes. Not sure what is up with that thing.

The food is ridiculously expensive. We went to Maggie Brown's Famous Fried Chicken. Two chicken tender plates, one side Mac and cheese, and a drink was $53!!!! I freaked out. Even the carnival games were $10-$20 each. I played one game, didn't win so that was it.

All in all, we spent a total of 4 hours there. For a park ticket that was under $30, it was worth it for the rides, but the Fast Lane wasn't needed. And parking costs $25. Just wouldn't eat there beyond a simple snack because it isn't worth it. Only open Friday thru Sunday too.

We just attended the Tricks and Treats Halloween shows and events and really liked it. It's all family-friendly, not scary, lots of families with small children. Older children there too but not like what we've heard in the past with troublesome kids. It was full of things to do for all ages of kids, even little ones. Some great musical shows, especially the trio in the New Orleans spooky section (although this would be appreciated more by adults.) The main stage show, waking up Patch the big pumpkin, was lively and fun. (When the park closes they have another shorter show to put Patch to sleep!). Great decorations all around, good soundtrack. Can't rave about the food but oh well. Very well attended, less crowded early, more crowded later but also something fun about being there after dark, Oh, also some characters walking around interacting with guests, Lots of little touches that add to the decor and atmosphere, plenty of photo-ops. We visited on Labor Day and the park was severely understaffed. Nearly half the rides were closed and wait times for food were far too long if the food location was staffed at all. They shouldn't have been open with so little staff.

For our last day of our SF Bay Area vacation, we decided to go to here. We used our Go City Explorer Pass to cover admission, so that was a very good deal compared to regular online admission price. We prepaid for parking (saves $5) and Premium All Day dining passes.

We were expecting to get in right at open, but with the line-up to get into the parking lot, time to find parking, time to walk to the entrance, time to clear security and then pick up our tickets, we probably got in about 45min after open. Make sure to budget that time!

We did a few of the rides, all which were fun. We had to wait about 30-45 min for each ride. One of the last rides we waited for broke down during our wait, so that was a bit disappointing.

We did play in the arcade to see if we could earn enough tickets to earn prizes. I spent about $100, and my kids only walked away with a couple of small toys and candy, so it was one of the worst value arcades we've ever played in.

We did take advantage of the Premium All Day Dining meal plans that provide you a free entree and side/snack every 90 minutes, and soda every 15 minutes. This is a relatively good deal since you break even at 2 entrees & 2 drinks, so anything after that is bonus. Since we did spend the entire day there, we got our full value. That being said, the food we sampled throughout the day was average at best (Panda Express being the worst).

We had time to take a few pictures with some of the Peanuts gang, which was nice. The water park looked fun, but was super busy, so we didn't use it.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit. It was an easy day, where we basically focused on rides and food. I just wished we got a better return on the arcade prizes.

This was our 2nd US theme park visit. We preferred Carowinds in the Carolinas. Make sure you buy tickets before visiting. We travelled from Bonny Soon (just outside Santa Cruz) - park was well signed posted close by. Parking was fine. A number of rides were closed (smaller wooden rollercoaster) or opened very late (the rapids). Water park needs more changing rooms & the wave pool was too shallow. Biggest gripe was the all day dining plan. We eventually got value for money. However, most concessions do not open until lunchtime. Others are too restrictive & make you feel 2nd class = esp Panda Express & the waffle place. We went right at the end of the US school holidays & it had a very end of season vibe. A bonus, if you're a Niners fan, is that the park shares the same car park as the stadium.
