Very interesting (good variety of holes). Very unassuming clubhouse at this historic golf course. Learn about the history and it’s link to Augusta and Pebble Beach courses. Enjoyed our caddie Matt and appreciate his knowledge and hints.

You will not be disappointed here. The course is phenomenal and exceedingly challenging. Easily among the best public access courses in the country and obviously with pricing to boot. Anyone who describes this as a ‘muni’ should likely save their money for something else. The course is deceptively long so playing up a tee is likely a good idea despite the actual yardage. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

If you are that golfer that likes to play courses in the top 100, or have to play a course not located in Augusta, Georgia, then you will play this course. If you are the average duffer like me, you may question why you did.
Yes, it is expensive ($325 green fees, $40.00 cart fee, $70 to make an on-line reservation). But other than playing a historic Alister MacKenzie course, what do you get for your $400 (I played with my wife so split that $70.00).
Although this is a semi-private course, complete with a guard gate to get by, it will otherwise feel like your local muni. When we arrived at the clubhouse there was no valet to take ours bags. There was only one guy manning the golf shop. He took our money and then had to do double duty by telling us when we could hit.
I would love to report more about the course but I didn't see the first 8 holes because of fog. A couple of "members" hit ahead of us and said sometimes they delay sending people out when you can't see 100 yards down the course. That was not the case this day so we figured we should let them go first before our threesome (we were paired with another first timer from Pennsylvania) so they didn't hit into us.
By the back nine the sun had come out. I thought #10 and #18 were particularly memorable. The course is immaculately maintained and the pro shop/starter guy was careful about not sending folks out in the fog too close together. That said, $400.00 for what was otherwise just another nice course, only half of which I saw, seemed a little outrageous. I expected more.

Beautiful well maintained lush greens, friendly staff! Tricky course requiring strategy but great play!
Time well spent.

Wonderful old style golf course, in great shape. The staff accommodated their members and but 3 groups in frying us, one group had 5 players. Plan on a 5 hour round.

This is a great golf course that an analytical golfer will enjoy. You have to use every shot and every club in your bag. You can’t just blindly hit shots, you need to have a plan of action on every shot.
There’s a reason this is one of the top golf courses in the country, but not all golfers will appreciate the interesting challenges that each hole and each green complex will provide.
If you can play well and score well here than going down to the local muni course will be a walk in the park. This is a tough round to score well.

One word “Fantastic”, My only regret is that I got to play it just one time. This is not a destination where you can expect to get pampered. Those of you that have had the opportunity to play Pebble know the drill on the shuttle to the range. We had to stumble our way through the process because they don’t clearly define how to get there and or how to get back. Once we arrived at the range, we discovered they were out of balls and had to wait for the ball tractor guy to offload his bounty only to get to hit off mats. Then waited 15 minutes for the return shuttle once we found the telephone number above the ball machine.
This venue is obviously not catering to occasional “Non Member,Out of State,Player”, however I’m sure they love the revenue. No refreshments out on the course so load up before you start.
Try to look past the obvious shortcomings and enjoy the track.

We had good fortune with the weather on the day after the Packers Niners game at Levi Stadium (not so good fortune for the Packers though). Some wind as can be expected but a glorious sunny day on the course.
#3, the first par 3 is a ridiculously hard hole. It's amazing to imagine what Alister Mackenzie was thinking when he designed this course in 1929. The length of holes, the carries, the green designs, the trouble, the uniqueness of each hole.
Greens had been punched 4 weeks prior and still shows some signs of it.
But over all a fabulous course and day.

Yes, it is a beautiful course, but NOT for $275. Pace of play was extremely slow, there were two FIVESOMES in front of us. That's crazy!!!! For $275 we didn't even get a bottle of water, noone cleaned our clubs when we were done, and no beverage cart. We will not return!

Pasatiempo Gofl club provided a Superb Day of Golf. The views of the Pacific Ocean were gorgeous and the course was beautiful, unique and challenging. Definitely a bucket list golf course.

Courses are really charging a lot these days in this area. Yes, Pasatiempo is $200 or more, and yes, it is worth it. It is historic and has some amazing attributes, and the greens are the closest thing you will ever see to Augusta. Is it better than some of the courses in the 17 Mile Drive? Well, it is better IMO than Spanish Bay. Spyglass is amazing track but it's like $350. Pebble is fun to play and all, but at $550 plus a stay at their Lodge I'm not sure it's worth that. Cypress Point is the Sistene Chapel of golf but you won't get on there without a member and some luck. There are others in the area as well, but the best deal by far is a Fred Couples course an hour away called San Juan Oaks.
