After a long day of walking and sight seeing, we found this small and cozy tasting room. I’ve long been a fan of Madrigal wine so I was so happy to be able to stop and enjoy some of the wine with a cheese plate. The staff is very welcoming and helpful and the wine was worth the wait. I ordered a “mystery” case to be sent home to Georgia. Twice the wine for the price because you let them select the it. Since I love all of the Madrigal wines, I went for it. Perfect end to the day, sitting outside sipping on a glass of Cabernet. 🍷

It was the worst wine Tasting ever. They sold us on the wine and chocolate pairing tasting however none of the wines and the chocolate matched the list. Note to owner if you're going to make some changes to your menu to pair with your chocolates redo or print an insert in your menu.

A tasting room in the heart of tourist country of Sausalito, California, Madrigal Family Winery is a small wine tasting room that sits on Sausalito's main drag, Brideway. It's super easy to get there, right off Highway 101 and lots of ample parking lots to park at to enjoy your day with wine tasting, shopping, and dining. I came with two friends who wanted to enjoy a quick Happy Hour meal in Sausalito after a quick hike in the Marin headlands but still wanted to get their wine tasting on and one of my friends wisely suggested Madrigal.
Madrigal is actually a winery in the heart of Calistoga which is known for their bold Cabernets and Sirahs. The Madrigal family was originally from Mexico and they were the first Mexican family to start their own winery in the valley back in the 1970's when they planted their own grapes at their winery in Calistoga. Madrigal Family Winery is the only Napa Valley winery that has their own wine tasting room in Sausalito. The tasting room, run by manager Patricia, has only been here for four years and is basically an extension of their winery, which is smart, you don't have to drive all the way to the valley to get some of the best red wines in the region.
When we arrived on late on a Sunday afternoon, the small two level tasting room, which doubles as an art gallery that displays the work of local artists, was just getting filled. There were groups of tourists and couples all sitting down on their sofas and glass-topped barrel tasting tables. What I like about Madrigal is that they actually have options when it comes to tastings, you can do their traditional tasting menu which goes for twenty-five dollars a person, their wine and chocolate pairing menu which costs 45 dollars a person, or you can literally just by your favorite Madrigal wine by-the-glass. Two members of our party went with the individual tasting and the third went with the chocolate pairing which expertly paired the Madrigal wines with locally made chocolates from Pick My Up Chocolates, which is literally down the street on Bridgeway.
With the individual tasting you get one white, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc and four reds, the 2015 Garnacha, the 2013 Bordeaux Blend, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2014 Petite Sirah. The Sauvignon Blanc, Garnacha, and Petite Sirah were all grown on their estate in Calistoga. I really loved the full-bodied boldness of the Cabernet and the Sirah which were smooth and wildly aromatic. My friend loved the chocolates from Pick Me Up Chocolates and the only difference was that their tasting started with a Gewurztraminer and ended with a Petite Sirah Port as the other three middle wines were the same.
We really enjoyed the relaxing vibe at Madrigal, they have great music playing overhead and a really strong complimentary WiFi signal. The Yelp check-in deal is no longer accurate as you have to buy three of their bottles they sell on premises to get a complimentary wine tasting. And their wines are not that affordable, so obviously all three in our party decided to just pay for our tasting. And like that after two hours of mingling, talking with Patricia and her tasting room associate Rose were wonderful hosts. Even with two floors, there is limited room, so you may want to call ahead for reservations. Madrigal Family Winery tasting room is no longer a hidden gem and everyone has already discovered it, so don't get left in the dust when looking for some good wines to buy in Marin County.

The wines are great. I'm partial to Big Cabs, but the Sonnet is amazing. I make my way here every trip to San Francisco! Shouldn't be any confusion now on price of tasting or wine because it's clearly stated in the menu!

We had a great time tasting the family wines all the selections we tasted were very nice and we enjoyed our visit. When we were ready to wrap up we asked for our check- I mentioned I wanted to purchase a bottle of the Sauvignon blanc to take with us- the lady whom was helping us (I forgot her name) stated if we purchased "3 bottles our tastings would be waived." Come to find out after checking our emailed receipt we were charged for 3 bottles of wine and 2 tastings. We are most upset at the fact that she misinformed us and knew that was misunderstood what she was saying. We would have purchased ONE bottle like we had intended and paid for our tastings. So for anyone reading this you must purchase 3 bottles EACH to receive a free tasting or coms to find out if we purchased "two bottles- we'd get a free tasting" (per yelp) again beautiful facility, very nice wines, great service until she pulled a fast one on us. Which we didn't appreciate.

Visited this tasting room on the day we arrived and were impressed with the wine, and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the people pouring them.
Mainly reds (yay!), and there wasn't one among them that wasn't something you'd happily buy a bottle of to share with friends.
Generous hosts.

Stopped in during a visit and did a tasting of five of their wines. $25 seemed high for the experience but the wine is excellent. Buying wine by the bottle is expensive.

Found this place randomly exploring Sausalito and what a great stop. The tasting manager Patricia was so informative and taught us so much about wine that we didn't know which helped as we were beginners. The space is nice, open and filled with art work. The staff was very attentive. I recommend a stop here.

This really was a nice surprise on the main road in downtown. Situated among kitsch shops and ice cream parlors, it had great quality wines from the family vineyard up in Napa county. It certainly isn't the same as being at the vineyard itself, but the staff were very nice and the view out into the bay was beautiful.

We love to visit Sausalito and this was a great choice and the wine was fantastic. Tastings were free with $100 purchase. Port was my favorite.
