Ruth Bancroft Garden
This place has an amazing collection of cacti, succulents, trees, and other unique plants. It takes about an hour or two to explore the beautiful gardens. The entrance has a cute nursery with lovely plants.

Amazing collection of plants, shrubs and trees from all over the world. It was a great experience. Both our grandchildren ages 6 and 10 enjoyed walking around the impressive garden. We took lots of pictures! Plenty to see.

It was a rainy day after my meeting on 3/21/2023 and the main office seemed to be closed due to construction so I took my umbrella and phone and enjoyed the beautiful gardens, super easy to walk through it, would be a great place to picnic with the lush surroundings.

Excellent exhibits! My 2 years old grand daughter had a ball. She was monitoring the laser beam and have a lot of fun!! The hot chocolate is an unexpected bonus on a wet night . The ranger staff are very knowledgeable and friendly!!

Beautiful experience… so creative and artful. Amazing visually and conceptually, to walk through the gardens and see the plants transformed by color, light and dazzling yet simple effects… I went the opening night (Nov. 25) with my daughter.
We both loved the experience. It would even be beautiful in the rain, if you bring a big umbrella. Hint: be sure to see the
“aquarium.” Also the “cats.” So many delightful surprises & magical moments!

One of my favorite places to spend an afternoon. An enormous variety of succulents and cactus from all over the world. Fantastic shopping in their huge nursery and gift area.
You can start a real obsession with succulents here.

I came here with my family on a library pass. Parking was convenient and bathrooms were very clean. The friendly woman at the entrace booth gave my daughter a Chinese New Year Scavenger Hunt activity. She got to pick a prize for completing the activity and chose two bookmarks for her effort. They have a wonderful collection of succulents and very knowlegeable docents. Lots of info about Ruth, the founder, and the Bancroft family too. The only thing we didn't get to see was Ruth's Folly, a greenhouse in the back of the garden, as it is currently being restored.

The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a really well laid out property with excellent exhibits. It's quiet and peaceful and has many interesting species. It isn't a large botanical garden, but definitely worth an hour or two of time. There are many docents around that are extremely knowledgeable, outgoing, and ready to answer any questions you have while still allowing you to wander undisturbed if you prefer. Even the maintenance staff will chat up with you and give you great information about how to care for your own garden. Highly recommended.

very rude people. cost way to much for so little. Very bad place. was not fun. i wish it could have been a better place for my date and i.

We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit to the Garden. We are visited by thousands of people each year who enjoy their visit and come back again and again and we work hard to train our staff to be friendly and knowledgeable about the plants in the Garden and Nursery.

These gardens are an absolute delight. They are beautiful and showcase the myriad flora that warm and dry climes can support.
When you pay for admission you are given a self-guided tour book at guide your meanderings. It was very hot the day we were there, so the chairs and small tables spaced apart in shaded areas was incredibly inviting.
There was even a guide there you could ask questions of - there are no guided tours at the time (covid precautions, I assume) but if you saw one, you could ask questions and get more information than you could really take in. Totally enchanting though.
