I have been river tubing at Pembina for 6 years. I love it so much! It is my absolute favorite thing I look forward to every year. So tragically the fire destroyed it last year, but I am thrilled that it's up and running again! The staff is amazing and thorough, and the river can throw some surprises in as Nature does, which is part of the adventure!

The family that runs this place should be under criminal charges, access to the river cannot be blocked and is free for all to enjoy, they try to block river access and want you to pay to get down to the river even if you have your own tubes, the province needs to step in and put an end to the blocking of access

If I could give 0 stars I would. The river itself should have been closed off for floating because it was so low and took us 5+ hours to hit the end point (can't be helped) but the staff are HORRIBLE. We had a reservation (and proof with emails proving we had booked in and were told we were guaranteed a spot and floats) and were stuck trying to get into the parking lot which made us late. The older woman there did nothing but scream at half our group but then was nice to our other half - told them we could float then told the other half to get back on our bus and leave. She screamed and swore at the person who organized our float in front of everyone waiting in line. She scream racial slurs as well which is an entirely other issue. She manhandled our bags to look for drugs/ booze. We didn't even need to be in line or deal with her since we had our own floats incase they didn't have any (lucky us) and our bus was picking us up at the end of the float (she also screamed at us that we'd never rent their floats but still made us wait in line for absolutely no reason other than to waste our time). Absolutely horrid customer service, drive that extra few km to access a different float.

Lots of fun for minimal cost. For about $30 (depending on which tube you choose), you get the rental of a tube, a life jacket, parking, and a ride back to your car at the end. Had a great time, we were 70, 68 and 62. Even though the river was lower than I would have liked, it took 4-1/2 hrs to mostly float gently down the river. We did spend some time getting around rocks (mostly small), but a higher river will make that much easier. We went way past the day use area, where we were supposed to get off, but luckily a camper spotted us and gave us a ride back to our car. A big sign would have been much better, as there are few options once you get past the campground. We went 3 times in 3 weeks and will be there as much as we can when they reopen next year. We bought paddles after the first trip, much better than the frisbees they provide. Also learned to wear leggings to guard against sunburn and rocks, a good hat that ties on, sunglasses with strap, and a water bottle cause 3-1/2-4-1/2 hrs is a long time to be without water. Had a blast and it was the most fun we’ve had in years The scenery is wonderful, the staff incredibly helpful and friendly, but they should talk slower if it’s your first time, especially when explaining where to exit.

While the river itself is enjoyable, the tubing rental company is completely disorganized. We waited on a line of 50 people for 120 minutes to sign a waiver to use the shuttle at the end of the float. On the shuttle there was a sign saying you could pay 20$ and get on. ( no waiver needed). I have no idea why we had to sign a waiver to ride a school bus. In order to sign the waiver you had to listen to a worker explain the procedure and the floating route.
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t hand out clipboards with waivers on them so you could review and sign them in line. As well, you couldn’t listen to the speech with several random people. You could only go in with your own group of friends. So sometimes it was 6 people and sometimes it was 2 which slowed it down immensely.
Here is the best way to enjoy your day…..take 2 vehicles. Park one at the end of the float at Pembina River Provincial Park. Get in second car and drive up to the Starting area. Bring your own tube. They charge 35$ for rental. You can buy your own for cheaper than that. This will save you the rental and shuttle costs.
If you only have 1 car, only have 1 person take the shuttle back. I was amazed how many groups paid extra for the shuttle when you only need 1 person to ride the shuttle 5 min back to the parking lot to get the car.
The staff blamed all the problems on being short staffed. Only had 4 instead of 20 employees show up. Based on all the rentals and shuttles they were hauling in $10-20k per day in revenue. PAY YOUR STAFF!

We have gone there for the last 5 years. They have new protocols and they are ridiculous. Yes they will charge you $2.00 to walk across the parking lot, and the security lady is a serious hag. We arrived in a large group this weekend and she was so angry she was shaking, as we tried to leave because she was so awful she frightened the 6 year old who was with us. I will never step another foot on this property and I will advise every else not to support a business that will employ such a tyrant. This is not the only access to the river.

Things to know.
-they can safe keep your car keys for you
-You must carry your tube etc. to the river which is about 10 to 15 minutes and at the end it’s a steep section down to the river. If you are wanting to carry things with you on the river you can actually rent I believe a flotation device specifically to put stuff on. If you can carry your tube on your head it would be easier if you don’t bring much stuff.
river is shallow so if you are very comfortable in the water and a good swimmer you probably don’t need a lifevest. Most adults were not wearing one. You may have to get out of your tube and push yourself off rocks because it is shallower in places right now.
-the paddles are frisbees they work pretty good
- towards the end as you get near to the bridge where you get off the current gets fast so beware you don’t hit the bridge pillar like we did and fall out of your tube. It is shallow so you can get out and walk

The shuttle is okay patrons wear masks which they can provide not that many people when we did it

We stopped and hung out on a sandy spot, the water is warm and it was very relaxing.

Took us about 3.5 hrs.

swimming suit is fine if you don’t mind the hot sun as water is warm

Water shoes a good idea

They have change rooms and feet washing station, no showers at the end

Money Grab!! They charge you to use the river but offer no assistance or direction on what to do. The river was low therefore the tubes hit the rocks and ours popped. There was no warning of this. We had to paddle most of the time with our shoes to move. (They don’t offer paddle rentals) . There was no floating involved. There is one area that the rocks are the same level as the water. This was not fun nor relaxing. A lot of work involved. I understand that the river level is out of their control but warnings should be given. Will not be returning. Very disappointed.

22 of us went to Pembina Entwistle river tubing last July 25, 2019. that was a scary and horrible experience, we missed the stopping point where to get off from the river and we went all the way down an hour and half from the provincial park knowing that there someone will stop us or see that signage beside the river but there's nothing, they have a terrible staffing, the lady who sign-up everyone is yelling and mad sound like she's not happy to what she's doing, they don't have proper instructions about where to start and stopping point, there's no one lookout for people who passed the stopping point, something goes wrong, there's no one will help you out or rescue you in that river. Scary part we're was stuck in the forest for 7 hours looking for a way out, no one came, even the police can't find us out there, no exit in that river, I was so scared the wild animals will eat us there, after a long 4 hours walked up and down the steep, muddy slippery dangerous mountain we found a little trail for quadding, we followed that way out until we got rescued by a friend. we went back to where we registered, every one's gone, they're close. No one will care about you if you can't come back or died in that river. not worth it wasting you life.

What a lovely time. Great staff and equipment. Shuttle return was great. We had a sunny day and some rough water which added so much fun to the day’s experience. Lovely scenery. Excellent value.
