I really enjoyed my visit to the Overland Trail Museum. There is so much to see! It looks small from the entrance but when you get inside there are many rooms to explore as well as outbuildings. It is a fascinating walk back through time.
The staff are very welcoming as well.

This is a very unique museum. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. They have actual buildings like an old gas station, church, schoolhouse, store, and barber shop to name a few. Their main building also has a lot of exhibits covering many, many subjects.

2 great things about this museum: first, it exists because of local support, with lads of interesting items donated by families with long histories here; second, many historical buildings AND their contents are re-created here. So you are not just looking at displays, but walking right into them as they might have appeared many decades ago. What a great way to capture the past for visitors interested in the old West and the trails that got them there.
If you love history, leave lots of time for your visit. There is plenty to see. My great favorite was the old general store. It's a lot to take in, but you can sit right down on a stool at the counter and stay as long as you like. There's a complete barbershop that invites you to step in for a haircut, and a wonderful old Conoco station that you can also enter. There are old homes, furnished just the way they would have seen them, 1900s-1920s-ish. And you MUST walk through the Hereford Depot and adjacent "Bygone Caboose," the latter providing good insight into the working life of the men who ran them.
Smaller and homelier, but still fascinating, displays also will make you linger: kiddie clothes and toys, DOLLS, incredible dioramas, collections of just about anything that makes life interesting, from old radios and TVs to a large collection of rocks and minerals. Wonderful ladies' dresses and shoes. And the great bulk of it identified by little cards showing family and donor names. These are real things that belonged to real people, generous enough to loan them to a museum.
Don't miss this place. It is A+ and a fun place to visit.

You never appreciate what the old settlers had to go through as they trekked out to Colorado from Missouri 150 years ago. Very informative museum

My family really enjoyed this museum. It has such a variety of interesting artifacts my kids all found something to peak there interests. It took us a solid hour and a half to get through all the exhibits, but could easily have taken more time. Nice little park across from it to picnic.

Wonderful surprise! The Overland Trail Museum was a lovely change of pace during a long cross-country trip. The vintage dolls and quilts were a fun addition. The educational value of this museum seemed to be quite good.

The outdoor portions of the museum feature a vintage house moved to the site, a general store with a fascinating story, a barber shop, a restored gas station from the 1950s, a barn with a tannery on the top floor, and a plethora of farm implements and tools. All are well equipped with many historical artifacts and explanatory information. If possible, see these outside exhibits on a nice day. This is one of the finest small museums I have seen, lovingly cared for by staff and volunteers. Admission price for geezers like me—$4. And a

Visited this little gem on our way to Fort Morgan, CO. Honestly this has got to be one of the best museums I’ve visited for a very long time. There’s so much history to see and we just didn’t have enough time to cover it all. Make sure to at least spend two hours there. Fantastic place, highly recommended.

Stopped by here in September and were pleasantly surprised and impressed with this museum. We thought we might spend an hour, but we were there for more then two. So many things to see, not only in the main building but they have a number of other period relevant structures fully equipped, such as a church, general store, blacksmithery and barber shop and school house.

Lovely museum and excellent staff. Live close by there is a lot of wonderful activities for everyone to participate in even through the winter months.
