This is a small museum that is filled to the brim with an extensive display of military history, especially as it relates to Northeast Florida. Displays and military memorabilia (weapons, uniforms, medals, photos, mock-ups of battle fields, etc.) cover everything from the first settlers in St Augustine/Florida, early pirates, Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI and II, Korean and Vietnam Wars and the Mideast War. The museum makes great use of every inch of the building and there is an outside area with larger military equipment and vehicles such as a landing craft, military ambulance, jeeps, The guide had extensive knowledge of everything in the museum and greatly added to the experience. There is no cost for visiting the museum but contributions are welcome. This is well worth the time and I recommend 1-2 hours for the visit

We didn't know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised by our visit here. Located in an old Quonset hut that was at part of a former Naval Air Station located here, this museum has a nice collection of military memorabilia including uniforms, weapons, actual hardware, models, and dioramas. We had a guided tour by two young docents who did a great job, and a nice chat with another gentleman who's a part of the museum. This place covers the gamut of American military history, from pre-revolutionary war right up to the present.

Outside there are a number of vintage military vehicles including a number of jeeps, other vehicles, a gun, and even a huge Landing Craft Transport that could hold 200 person and 100 tons of supplies. It is massive.

This was a great time and best of all it's free. But we left a $20 donation and felt that we got our money's worth, for sure. If you're in the area, see this, you won't regret it.

Great Military Museum that covers all US conflicts, has some very unique displays, artifacts, uniforms and a tribute wall to our sisters who also served. If you are homeschooling kids, this is a must see to help understand our history. The guides have specialized knowledge, and are veterans as well, so they can give personal insights that most tours can not. The motor pool outside the museum has cars, jeeps, trucks and a tank that make for great outdoor photos. If you have a family member who served, they can help you to learn about their unit, where they fought, and fill in the historical gaps to generate interest of the younger generation in the family.

Jim was our tour guide. He brought the museum to life! Every item had a story and he knew them all. It was one of the highlights of our time in Green Cove Springs. You could not help but feel pride for our great men and women of the military and great appreciation for the sacrifices they made to keep us safe and free. The museum is small but FULL of personal artifacts from every branch of armed forces for each of the wars we have fought. The history is inspiring and a great reminder that freedom is not free! We highly recommend Jim and the Military Museum. We were there a little over an hour and would go back again when in the area.

The size of this place is deceptive. It is chock full of gems! Nicely organized from the Seminole Wars through to Iraq conflict. Lots to see and talk about. The Marine volunteer and the Royal Marine curator were awesome and so helpful. The site is on the old airfield near the shipyard. So much history! No admission is charged, but they depend on donations to survive...so please donate generously. Even my teenage son enjoyed it.

Totally enjoy this free museum. The curator there was a gentleman who had been through World war II from England. He was very very knowledgeable
Many of the things on display in the World War II section or actually from his childhood and parents. This is a long forgotten area were at one time during the war they were almost 20,000 people living here and every ship for the US Military was built here it is important to preserve this area and to hear about its history.

This place is a gem. It is very small but there is so much inside...We particularly enjoyed the models. My three year old enjoyed the vehicles outside. You are taken through a guided tour with an excellent guide. They need more volunteers to stay open. Admission is donation only, but be generous because they depend on it!
