Visited since they have a large collection of ferns and we needed a number for one of our containers.
Got all we wanted plus a couple of other things we were looking for. A large collection of various shrubs available.
Allowed to take our dog in which is always a plus point.
Staff were helpful. Prices are expensive but good quality plants so you get what you pay for.

You can feel the love that has been poured into both the nursery and Johns garden. Everything has been carefully chosen, organised and maintained, including the staff! Johns home is in the centre of the garden and he clearly enjoys chatting with the visitors, it is delightful talking with someone motivated by such a pure passion. The garden is relatively small, I would guess about 3 acres, running alongside the canal. The planting is imaginative and varied with lots of sculptures that add a certain whimsy and wit. Many unusual trees and plants are flourishing under the attentive care of Johns team who have a long term vision. The garden feels as beautifully manicured as a Japanese garden. I want to return every month to watch how the garden changes through the seasons.
We also visited the tea rooms for a very nice lunch served by charming staff.

Whats is happening to the tearoom.
After being a regular customer over a number years today was probably
the last visit.
Waited in a queue which is what you rightfully expect.
Started the order, tea & black coffee. The harassed assistant had not even
started on the coffee when I said Americarno. This was greeted with a look & the words so you want to change the order??. Have you ever felt like a naughty child ?.
It got worse, I then asked for her to add to Lasagnas & to be included in bill.
I would hand table number to an assistant after we had drank the drinks.
This is something we have always done & it was never a problem.
In fact it was an assistant who suggested that to me many moons ago.
Oh no the assistant was aghast, you can’t do that you will just have to queue again
for the lasagna. Strange she gave me the knifes & forks but would not take the order. I explained it was difficult to queue but politely told we aren’t very
busy so it won’t be a problem to queue.
How did she know what problems we had.By this time I had totally forgotten I was the customer trying to spend £15.
It got worse, we was given a table by the window with an empty table to close for comfort, less than half a metre away. No problem at this point no one on the table.
Queued again for the Lasagna. We sat eating it when new customers was put on the dreaded close table. A large lady which made half a metre turned into much less.
What a very uncomfortable experience all round but cost us £15.

Oh yes I did phone up after because no one available to speak to at the time.
Spoke to assistant manager Kelly. Apparently when I had been able to order
all the order without queuing a second time it would have been done in goodwill
by the staff. Again I was reminded I was only the customer spending hard earned cash.

When queried social distancing, I was told they had to try and get the tables in and
someone may have moved them. It was 2 pm and plenty of staff could see these tables by the windows so therefore why didn’t they make sure social distancing
was adhered to. I asked Kelly to go and look whilst I waited but she declined
that suggestion.
I understand Ruth is the manager so Ruth please take into account customers
feelings, because customers show unacceptable customer services by walking.
Customers please voice your concerns re social distancing load & clear.

Beautiful garden centre, a real hidden gem. I only live up the road and have been visiting for years. Gardens are well kept and beautiful to look at. Make sure to visit the tea room, the homemade cakes are delicious!

This is a beautifully manicured garden. The borders were tiered and a blaze of complimentary colours. There was some very interesting plants and structures there. The garden backs onto the canal and it was pleasant to sit and watch some canal boats drifting by. The garden was so calming and perfect for taking some time out for your wellbeing. There’s a wild meadow garden which attracts all kinds of wildlife. When you’ve finished in the garden there are several choices of places to eat. The nursery is opposite with an extensive range of plants and shrubs. It is a lovely afternoon visit whether you’re a gardener or not.

If this nursery doesn’t want young children they should make it clear. My young grandson wandered onto the lawn and fell into one of the beds by accident. Instead of concern for his welfare he was bawled out by a gardener which really upset him, he is only 2. Whilst the coffee and cake was delicious, I won’t be returning.

Visited this garden today. Had to book in advance and very well organised when you get there. Masses of parking. The extensive garden is beautifully maintained and designed, running alongside the canal. I would imagine worth visiting any time of the year. A real labour of love. Lots of seating and a good tea room with outside seating. There is also a temporary horse box selling sandwiches and cakes etc and lots of outside seating.
The garden shop and centre are well stocked with a wide range of plants and trees.
Good day out

We visited here for an open day of John's garden. We felt very safe looking around, it was our first outing since the Covid lockdown. The gardens are so peaceful, immaculately kept and so interesting. John himself came into the garden to welcome and thank guests for visiting, an enjoyable 2 hours.

This is a local garden centre and I visit many times. Lovely choice of plants for all aspects and tastes. Tea room is always busy as meals are very good and the selection of cakes to die for. I visited John Massey's (the owner's)private garden for the first time recently on one of his open days. What a garden! Three acre garden by the Staffordshire/Worcestershire canal, lovely setting. Bees, a small bird hide, open areas and specialised planting, entrance fee for charity. A local owl sanctuary was displaying on same day. Visited early spring so would like to return at a different time of year, Autumn would be spectacular. Highly recommend.Extra parking usually available as open days are very popular.
