Howard Solomon created this castle and all the unique art pieces in it. It is truly a one-of-a-kind place. I think the castle tour is a bit overpriced (we didn't do the "add on" tour) but the tour guide was entertaining and obviously cared about the Solomon family. Howard had tons of talent and lots of "treasures" to make his creations. It is out in the middle of nowhere, but there is a cafe and some picnic tables if you bring a picnic lunch. Worth seeing.

The tour of this amazing building designed and built by a man with an incredible imagination and wit as well as a talented multi medium artist was beyond our expectations.

This was a fun little excursion. We did the house tour and the guide was a cute young girl. It was lots of fun with quirky art inside the castle. It is a good side trip and way to spend a couple of hours. The grounds are pretty too. We went at a good time of the year- I would imagine it would be a bit hot and sticky in the summer.

My wife and I decided to visit Solomon’s Castle after hearing of it through a friend. As British Citizens, our visit was motivated more out of curiosity than expectation. After initially chuckling to ourselves at the appearance of the castle ( we were wrongly comparing it to the castles in The United Kingdom ) the experience went from good to great. We started by enjoying a wonderful homemade lunch in the galleon restaurant. The chicken pot pie was absolutely excellent. Our server was charming and very knowledgeable. We then purchased our tour tickets from founder Howard Solomon’s grandson, who was similarly charming. Our tour was conducted for just my wife and I, with our guide enthusiastically and humorously showing us the castle and the collection of art produced by Howard during his 50 year tenure. Our day was rounded off with a visit to view the very fine collection of pre 1935 automobiles. Once again our guide entertained us with amusing and informative commentary. We both enjoyed the experience enormously and would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting this part of Florida.

Recently our group of 35 toured Solomon’s Castle. This very unique structure in the middle of nowhere is the culmination of artist and businessman Mr. Solomon’s imagination and dreams. We did two tours with lunch wedged in between at The Boat in the Moat. Our early tour was through the castle to observe Mr. Solomon’s wacky art work - metal sculptures made from unimaginable thinks like oil drums and bike chains, miniature trains and planes. Mr. Solomon passed away a few years ago, but his stories are now told by his very witty, humorous tour guides. The afternoon tour was a visit to his interesting collection of pre-1935 antique autos, mostly Fords. If you go, be sure to take a guided tour. The docents are wonderful and will make the visit a highlight of your tour.
Our group Lunch was in the lighthouse building at the Boat in the Moat on the property . A broad menu of reasonable burgers and other entrees are served. If you are hungry you will eat at the Boat in the Moat since any other dining is miles away. Oh, and did I say cash? Only cash is accepted for tours and food. Absolutely no credit or debit cards are accepted. 🤣There is an ATM on the property. I had a corned beef on rye which was good with a side of their spinach casserole. I thought that the spinach casserole was pretty bland.
I highly recommend Solomon’s Castle as a very unique Florida experience.

Quite an interesting place. The artwork is amazing. The founder was ahead of his time with recycling but he made his into beautiful art and an amazing home, studio, restaurant, and outbuildings.

We like visiting unusual places so this seemed to fit the bill. We did the castle tour which is $25/adult, discount for veterans, seniors and children. You can also get a package tour price if you want to see more pieces of the artist’s work at another building. The castle reminded us a bit of House on the Rock in WI and Studio Ghibli in Japan. There are interesting and eclectic pieces made of recycled materials in various rooms and a walk through some of the living areas (living room, dining room, kitchen, foyer). Solomon was talented with his hands as pieces were welded, carved, or made of stained glass. Our favorites were the carved wood pictures. The 30 minute tour was scripted by the artist (now deceased) and is funny but impersonal in that you don’t really learn that much about the man. The tour guide was fine but it wasn’t worth the $25 in our opinion. Solomon kept adding onto the property, building a boat (now restaurant) and lighthouse with extra restaurant seating. We sat outside for lunch which was pleasant. The food and service were good. The gift shop had many garden items, gift items etc. Bring cash as they don’t take credit, but atm on site. We spent about 2.5 hrs here.

I suggest that Sharon checks their website as their prices seem to be complicated. And remember, everything is in cash at the Castle.

There were a lot of people there the day we went and I did not seen anyone in a wheelchair although there were several people using a cane or walk assisting device. There are some steps inside of the castle though it is usually just one or two up or down. I don't think that a wheelchair or scooter could go on that tour. You do not go up to the second floor on the tour at all.
I believe that the ship portion can be accessed by a wheelchair via a ramp or around the backside where it connects to garden gift shop area. The other portion of the tour which can be bought separately is in an outbuilding and I believe that would be able to be accessed with a wheelchair/scooter.

They do not accept credit cards! We paid $16 for the traditional tour of the downstairs only. There is a tour of both downstairs and upstairs for an additional charge. Check out their website!
Do they have places to rest or sit down on the tours ?

Yes! There is a restaurant inside a ship that Mr. Solomon built. We didn’t have a chance to eat there but we heard the food is good, especially the desserts. It looked really cool. On the tour itself, there is no place to sit as you walk through rooms filled of art and into the living quarters. There are outside benches to sit on while waiting for the tour to begin.
Info about the B and B. Pics cost breakfast.

This is a bit away from much of anything, and it’s not an all day attraction. There are no accommodations on the property.

$12.50 castle, $10.00 shop or combined $18.00. FYI $5.00 would be too much. Tourist trap. Save your money and time.
