We were visiting other sites in downtown St. Petersburg and learned of this exhibit. The exhibits of the Chihuly Collection are nothing short of amazing. It boggles my mind at the time required just to create one of these artworks, much less the creative mind that is required just to design such a creation.
This was thoroughly enjoyable.

John, we are so glad that you came to visit us! Thank you for diving into the Chihuly Collection with wonder and thoughtfulness about the designs behind the installations. So much thought was taken to execute the series and it is a delight to be able to share it with you. We hope you had a great St. Pete stay!

Beautiful collection! Really loved the exhibit, although it’s fairly small. The movie about Chihuly was interesting, but our favorite part was the glass blowing demonstration. The ladies made a gorgeous piece. Very enjoyable!

Laurie, we love to hear that you enjoyed the exhibit and the glass blowing! We are always delighted to demonstrate the process for guests. Also! If you ever get the craving to try it out - we even guide personal glass experiences to make your own pieces! That's something fun to consider if you ever want to get hands-on with glass.

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed immersing yourself in the world of Chihuly. The film is such a great way to bring the backstory of the collection together. We appreciate you stopping in!

Smaller collection of Chihuly than expected albeit displayed very nicely & includes a short film; our favorite thing was it included admission to a weel narrated glass blowing demo across the street. IF you've seen Chihuly works elsewhere, as we have, I'd recommend the larger and less costly Imagine Musuem also in downtown St Pete.

Thank you for coming to see the Chihuly Collection during your visit! Our aim is to bring together the story of Chihuly's work by displaying a sample of each of his series along with his backstory film. Your admission supports the ability to showcase free gallery admission to the Morean Arts Center, Morean Glass Studio, and Morean Center for Clay. The collection creates a conversation about the art form and allows you to continue the journey by watching live glass demonstrations at the Morean Glass Studio. We hope that you found enjoyment in that experience!

We really enjoyed this museum, but the entry fee is ridiculously high for such a short experience, and that’s why I gave it a 4 rating instead of 5. We paid $20 per adult, and I think it should be $10. I can’t imagine a family of 4 paying $70+ dollars.
Think about getting a museum membership that will get you into multiple museums if you plan on seeing a lot during the year.
When you are there don’t miss the glass blowing demonstration. I’ve been to several glass blowing demonstrations and watched it on TV and I still learned something new. I did tip them even though I was annoyed by the entry fee. Lol.

Jennifer, we appreciate your feedback and are glad that you enjoyed the museum!
It is great that you experienced both the Chihuly Collection + the live glass blowing demonstration experience (which is $10 when purchased without Chihuly Collection admission, making the Chihuly Collection essentially $10 + the $10 glass demonstration).
This admission cost at the Chihuly Collection creates the capability to offer free admission to the Glass Studio gallery, the Morean Arts Center, and the Morean Center for Clay.
If you are in town and want a full day of art, we recommend visiting all 4 Morean locations!

If there is only one thing you do while you are in St. Petersburg, visiting the Chihuly Collection is it! The collection is visually stunning, and walking through the building you feel like you're in another world. In addition to the beautiful pieces on display, there is a documentary playing that shows the planning and creation of the various pieces. It's very interesting and gave me a new appreciation of the process of glass blowing. But being up close to see these magnificent works of art is fantastic.
Admission is very reasonable, and the day I visited it was not crowded at all. I spent a lot of time wandering and simply admiring the beautiful glass. I'm so glad I went!

Extremely unique pieces of glass blown art. Some art truly amazing others more repetitive and less so. We found the art work to be a waste of our time. If we could rate the museum in 1/2 point increments it would get a 4 1/2. Please sit through the brief film. It will give you an excellent perspective.
Once you have visited the Chihuly Collection you will definitely want to go watch an actual glass blower and probably their assistant walk you through a demonstration of the process of creating a new piece of glass art work at the Morean Glass Studio.

We appreciate your visit to the Chihuly Collection and the Morean Glass Studio. The glass blower and narrator really enjoy getting to share the process to fully round the experience from sketch (the artwork on the walls) to the end result (the installations). We thank you for your feedback and insightful review of your experience.

The exhibit is well done, thoughtful and showcases the work beautifully. I've visited other Chihuly collections including Seattle and while this is a bit smaller, it has many of the same types of work. The darkened rooms with spotlights are fantastic. Included in the admission is a 30 minute live presentation on glass blowing about a block away. That was also a lot of fun,

We appreciate you sharing your experience and are thrilled to hear your admiration of the spotlight layout. The collection features examples of the many installation styles and has that live glass-blowing demonstration to tie it all together. We are glad you had fun! Thank you for your visit.

Bucket list.
We were in St. Petersburg for four days to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I have been fascinated with Dale Chihuly for some time and since we will not get to Seattle to see his premier work, I was excited to learn about the first installation of his work in a building designed for that purpose. Chihuly is a pioneer in the studio glass movement and leads in the development of complex structures and environmental art.
While the display is smaller, the pieces are nonetheless impressive. Several chandeliers grace the ceiling of the building and range in size from 3-30 feet in length and are made up to 1,000 elements of glass including one of the most famous, "Iconic Ruby Red Icicle." One walkway features many pieces in the ceiling making you want to lie down and gaze up at the beauty. Glass-related gifts, books and other items are available in the gift shop. The entire collection can be appreciated in less than an hour.
We did not find any discounts or coupons for entry and paid $18 each for the senior rate. However, admission covers entry to the Morean Arts Center directly across the street for glass blowing demonstrations on the hour. This is a must to see how a hot, sweaty tricky trade that requires intense concentration and timing results in beautiful glass art.
Viewers sit on bleachers in a covered area at the back of the center. The glass blower and fellow worker we saw have been blowing glass for 10 years. One of the glass blowers lived in Venice for a few years and studied in Murano.
The furnace temperatures range from 1,000 to 2,000 degrees F. Many steps are required to create one of the scalloped pieces similar to those we saw in the collection. It takes 24 hours for the final pieces to cool in the coolers in the demo area. One of the trickiest parts is separating the glass from the rod which the pair did with finesse and success. We watched as the piece was widened and color added to the rim. The demonstration lasts about 35 minutes.
Friends have mentioned seeing his work in Milwaukee and Madison, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Columbus, OH, Nashville and at the Biltmore in Asheville, NC.

Happy 50th anniversary! We are absolutely honored that you chose to visit us during your celebration getaway.
It sounds like you truly captured the experience of each installation and soaked up the facts of the Chihuly Collection throughout your visit. The Morean Glass Studio live glass demonstrations add so much to the experience and we are thrilled to hear that you made time to watch a piece come to life from the hot shop. You are also welcome to create a piece of your own though personal glass experiences, which adds a hands-on element with full guidance for those curious about trying the medium themselves!

Our trip to the Chihuly Collection was a highlight of spring break beach trip. While the collection isn’t huge, it is absolutely breathtaking. Combined with the fascinating video and mesmerizing glass-blowing demonstration at the Morean Glass Studio across the street (included in the ticket price), it was a wonderful morning of art at a very affordable price compared to other museums.

Use Google to look for coupons if you need a special rate. When we went in June 2018, it was $5 admission because we happen to be there during Arts Weekend (not sure of the name). It was a busy Saturday, but not so crowded that you could not enjoy the exhibit. We parked on the street a block away.

How Different is it from the Chihuly Gardens in Seattle?
We’ve spent time at the permanent Chihuly museum in Seattle (highly recommended!) and as Florida residents are wondering if this is worth the trip/admission. Can anyone who’s been to both compare them?
Skrevet 14. august 2018
We've been to both Chihuly exhibits. The Seattle Gardens and Museum are much larger than the St. Petersburg, but cost approximately $30 for Seattle vs. $20 for St. Pete. The single reason to visit St. Pete's museum (in my opinion) is the film that looks into his works in Israel and elsewhere.
Skrevet 14. august 2018
We parked about a block away on a Sunday. Not sure what it would be during the week.
Skrevet 27. april 2018
There are no formal tours, but the museum is small and you can take as much time as you like. As stated above, across the street is an interesting glass blowing demonstration that is included with your ticket.
Skrevet 25. april 2018
Every hour on the half-hour based on volunteer availability. No tours on Saturday or Sunday.
I believe they will coordinate a group tour. Best to check their web site for more details.
Skrevet 24. april 2018
How much is time does it take to see everything?
Skrevet 8. april 2018
About 1-1.5 hours. But you can also go to a glassblowing workshop across the street which is included in your entry fee. The workshop lasts about one hour.
