I would have given this a 5-star review if not for the crabby attendant on the entrance. The old chunky and curly hair lady doesn't seem to be happy with her job. She raised her voice when we're talking to her for directions. Not everyone is familiar with the place so it's very natural for tourists to ask for questions. Apparently, she's not.

Get your fishing gear together, and go and relax. The is and excellent place to enjoy a day of fishing $4 per vehicle and $4 per person.

It had a small park-like area and a very long pier (that you had to pay to access ($6) which would allow you to join the other 100 people who are fishing. If you don't fish, don't bother.

Great place to fish and we had a lot of fun, worth checking it out if you like to fish but get there early to get a good spot. To get there, just stay on the highway as if you’re going over the bridge. There will be signs for the fishing pier to the right and you just follow the signs and those will take to to the ticket booth at the entrance. You will pay per person fishing, kids were $2 I think, adults around $5-6. The pass you get is good for 24 hours, so you can leave and come back or go to the other side of the fishing pier. There is a north side and a south side. The north side is shorter but has very clean bathrooms, a bait shop and little covered area with picnic tables. The south pier is much longer but no bait shop and seemed a little more run down with graffiti. With both sides of the pier, they’re pretty much one way. You drive on the one lane and park/fish from the other lane, so to get off the pier you have to drive to the end and turn around to drive off(unless you have a very small vehicle that can turn around in space space). I can see how it can be very crowded, we were there on a Saturday in January and there were still only a few parking/fishing spots left. There’s the other part of bridge right next to where you are fishing, so long casts here will not work unless you go to the opposite side where there’s no bridge. Even though it was January, we still caught plenty of fish, no keepers but fun for the kids to reel in. The fish there are very clever, they can instantly strip your bait without you having a clue. Bring chairs and some food. Bathrooms have soap and running water. Overall, fun day can’t wait to try during the spring or summer to catch some keepers!

It's a great view of the gulf and the bridge, but it's hard to get out and enjoy any fishing. It's crowded, fishing lines are in every direction. It's even difficult to turn around and get back, once your on the pier. I will say it's a great view of the bridge, if you want a Kodak moment! However, it's rough fishing spot.

Stopped here to take in the sunset instead of sitting in traffic. I don't fish, so wasn't there for that, but thought the "park" part might be a nice setting. Not so much.

We were really excited to cross this engineering masterpiece spanning the Tampa Bay. There are two fishing piers on each side of the bridge.
We stopped at the southern one in Mantee County rest area. This pier is longer and takes you closer to the central pylons. Entry fee for one hour tourist visit without fishing is around 3$. From the pier's end there are great views of the entire bridge and bay.

The two piers (north and south) are the remaining pieces of the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge that collapsed after being hit by a freighter back in 1980. We visited the north pier, which is convenient in that you can drive and park right near your viewing spot. Great sunset over the bay and wonderful evening view of the “new” Sunshine Skyway bridge (the one built in 1987), with cruise ships making their way out to sea. Only downside is that it’s a little a pricey for a short sightseeing visit (non-fishing) at over $8 a carload.

It was a little too windy for boating so I spent the day on the Pier. Its $4.00 per car. $4.00 per person . So one person is $8.00 dollars for the day. Pass is good for 24 hrs. Take a sabiki rig for the smaller fish. You can throw net from the bridge.Take a larger ro too throw the bait put you caught. Great views of the Sky Way and Tampa Bay. The bathrooms are porta potties. Its very kid friendly and family oriented.

Every time I visit the Tampa area I visit the South pier. This visit did not disappoint even though a cold front had just passed and the water was cloudy. Fished the out going tide and the mackerel bite was ON! the action was hot and steady slamming one after the other. Caught a minimum of twenty fish all above legal size and a few beat my personal best well over twenty four inches.... not bad for December! The pier is a great fishing place for all ages and skill levels as you never know what you might hook into. Drive right up and drop your line very convenient and accessible. If you are new to fishing it’s a great place to start ,they have bait / rod and reel rentals and lots of people always willing to give advice and guidance. The Ginger gives this place two thumbs up !!

How long does your crab scooping net have to be to reach the water at skyway
Iam planning a trip in late December, I would like to rent fishing tackle and bait along with my daily pass ,etc , what species are active at this time of the year
