Our 7- and 4-year-old loved this. Arrive in time for the 11:00AM wildlife show. Feeding flamingos was fun even though they weren’t very hungry.

Beautifully maintained and humanely treated spot right off Tamiani trail in Sarasota. There were free ranging peacocks and even an albino feathered one. My favorite experience was interacting with the beautiful pelicans. There is a clean restroom as well as a cafe which was closed for renovation during our visit.

The newly installed brick walkway is very attractive and makes it easy to navigate your way through the park. The flamingos are beautiful and very comfortable with visitors.
However, the exhibits in the buildings were dirty and badly in need of paint. There were more empty and closed exhibits then ones with actual animals or reptiles. There were no butterflies at all in the butterfly exhibit.
We were a party of all adults, and went with expectations that we would learn about the wildlife, and especially the beautiful birds. The birds were on perches with no information at all about them. Apparently you had to stay for the show which was later in the day. To fill time, we watched the wildlife show which was geared entirely to children with much screaming about the large snake.
It is a place to visit with children- as adults, we found it not worth the admission.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens never disappoints! My family and I have been coming here for years and even now that my girls are teenagers they still love it! The birds are amazing, flamingo feeding so cool but the live shows are the best. Being entertained by Alan was not only educational but extremely fun. Highly recommend!

I expected more. It's a small place and not many animals. You can feed the Flamingos but you can't touch them. None of the animals can be touched unless you get there during a specific time. Goats can be petted. I think the admission price is too high for what you get.

Based on previous reviews I wasn’t sure if this garden would be worth it. I had promised my 12 yr old daughter an excursion that involved animals. We were limited on time and location so this was a perfect location. First of all the cost is high of you include the cost of touching an animal/ photo with bird. . If you just pay the entrance fee & walk around and enjoy the gardens the fee is realistic to similar locations/zoo/ gardens. The garden itself is beautiful & flamingos are the star. The cost of $10 to take a pic with parrot- not worth it. Overall a beautiful place to walk & enjoy the outdoors & creatures. Would definitely return. My daughter & I both enjoyed it.

We had a simply wonderful time at the Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Our 9 year old daughter LOVED feeding the flamingos from her hands (note: go when the gardens open in the morning and the flamingos are still hungry), holding the birds, holding the baby alligators, and especially Alan's brilliant bird show. Alan is funny, talented, and keeps everyone thoroughly entertained, whilst providing just the right amount of educational and historical background to make the visit feel special.

From the moment we stepped into Sarasota Jungle Gardens, we were transported into what felt like an untouched piece of Old Florida. This attraction, thriving since 1939, offered our family a unique experience that we will cherish for years to come.
Highlight: Flamingo Feeding Fiesta 🦩
One of the day's unforgettable moments was the opportunity to feed the free-roaming flamingos. This isn't something you see at many parks, and the chance to get up close with these peculiar yet stunning birds was extraordinary. The children were in awe, and the flamingos, with their quirky mannerisms, kept us entertained and amazed.
A Tortoise Encounter Like No Other 🐢
We decided to splurge a bit and opted for the 600-pound Aldabra Tortoise encounter. Yes, it effectively doubled our visit's cost, but it was worth every penny. This encounter was far from typical—it was a journey into the world of these majestic creatures. It's comforting to know that our contribution helps in the care and conservation of these magnificent animals.
The Charm of Old Florida 🌿
Walking through the park is like stepping back in time. The local flora has matured beautifully, enveloping the area in a lush, jungle-like ambiance. However, the age of the park is a double-edged sword. While its historic charm is undeniable, some areas do show signs of wear and are in need of some updating. But don't let this minor point deter you; the park's beauty and its offerings far outweigh this.
Final Thoughts
Sarasota Jungle Gardens is a hidden gem that provides a delightful escape into nature. Whether it's the interaction with the animals or the stroll through the verdant gardens, there's something here for everyone. A visit here is more than just a day out; it's an enriching experience that supports wildlife conservation. We left with full hearts and beautiful memories. Highly recommended for families and nature enthusiasts alike!

The website says adult tickets are for ages 13-64, do you have a seniors rate? Or would they be the same? Thanks!

How do you qualify for a locals family pass? I will be staying in Florida for 12 weeks over summer. Does this qualify? What would we need to bring to prove residence?

If you have a Florida address, even for 12 weeks, we will honor that as a resident.

Is it open during rain? And, it sounds like there are only certain times you can get pictures with the birds...what time is that?
Lorisreview

The Jungle Gardens are open every day rain or shine. As far as the pictures with birds there are scheduled times throughout the day. I believe it's like 6 times a day.

How much walking is there. Should I bring a rollator?
Sherie N

There is not a lot of walking. You can tour the whole park in 45 minutes if you want. It depends on how long you want to spend looking at the Flamingos and the beautiful birds. They also have shows to watch with seats.
