Dive Georgia has several programs that are offered to Veterans that are wanting to use their VA education benefits for Scuba Diving. However, one class they offer stands out particularity, “ScubaPro Service Technician-EQ”. This class has pre-requisites that are required from ScubaPro its self. Meaning you have to be working for an authorized ScubaPro dealer. Question? Did Dive Ga. notify ScubaPro that they were going to offer the ScubaPro Service Technician as part of their VA program? How can Dive Ga. offer this as a VA approved class? Lastly does the VA know about the work requirements for this class? Is Dive Ga. going to offer every Veteran a job before they take this class? If so how long will they be employed for?
For anyone to be allowed to offer any classes that are going to be paid for through the Veterans education benefits, they have to apply and be approved. So instead of using my VA benefits for just a one day class, I paid the $280 out of pocket. Now I’m being told, since I do not work for a Dive shop I’m not going to receive the certification or a refund. Now the class is offered for $195. When I took this class, I was unaware of the employment requirements. I, however was able to sign up, take the class, never once was asked if I worked for a Dive shop. I drove 5 hours one-way for this certification class.
If any Veterans have taken this Dive Ga. ScubaPro Service Technician class and are not working for a dive shop. Dive Ga. owes the VA Education a refund. I am also inquiring with the VA to see if they know about the employment requirements from ScubaPro just to be able to take this class.
Side note, Dive Ga. offered me a “PADI Equipment Specialist Certification” $48.60 plus training fees in place of the ScubaPro Service Technician $280. With everything I have recently learned, I do not trust their prices. With all the hiccups, I do not want the certification from Dive Ga. Now, I want a full refund. This is the first and last time I will be doing business or recommending Dive Ga. for any of your Scuba needs. While I was there two customers walked in wanting to turn in equipment for servicing, they were told a three week turn around

This was our first dive after getting our open water cert. Great place to get more practice in under ideal conditions i.e. shore, calm water, etc. The drive was only 1h 20m away so that helps to make a day out of it without a long drive and overnight stay.
- Visibility was about 10' - 15 'in the morning, then about 10'in the afternoon .
- water temp was 73 up until 35' then dropped to 68 at 40'
-Great parking, facilities, rented tanks so it was a quick exchange for ones that were full.
Great customer service from Patrick and other staff.

Nasty water, poor vis (its fresh water after all), and cold. This place charges $35 plus plus $10 air refills to dive in some nasty water. They make this place out to be some great location in GA, but if you want actual diving where you can actually see something, take the extra time and go to the coast.

Sunday afternoon in June. We were looking to have a fun day in the sun by the water, while our son did a little scuba diving. Luckily we brought our snorkel gear and joined in the fun. The employees were lovely to talk with and the grounds well maintained. They had a couple kayaks and SUP boards along with renting scuba equipment or BYO.

Kraken is situated just outside Cartersville in a small township called White, GA, which is approximately 10 minutes drive off of I-75. This place is a former stone quarry with fresh flow, which keeps things clear below thermoclines, but very chilly. Vis close to the surface can be as much as 25', but should someone silt out, then vis reduces to 5' or less. Its cold (60's) below the first thermocline (20'), so a 5mil is as thin as I would go, and a hood and gloves are a must.
Several training platforms and buoys to practice skills like buoyancy and navigation. Some features such as a sailboat, bus, old soda machine, and others can easily be found.
Bathhouse has very clean toilets and showers. Camping and cooking out is available and encouraged. Quality gear and tanks are available for rentals.
Great place to take students for OW checkouts if you can't make it to the coast.

Just returned from a trip to St. Eustatius with Dive Georgia. It was wonderful. Every detail was taken care of. Prior to the trip, multiple emails and lots of information was sent to participants. On the trip everything was taken care of for us. Matt and Cat, thank you for a great week and thank you for putting together such an awesome and diverse group of divers. Your attention to detail is much appreciated and did not go unnoticed. Group travel can be hit or miss. Dive Georgia is a hit!!! This was my 2nd awesome trip with Dive Georgia and I am looking forward to traveling with you again. -MJB

Dropped in because they are close to home. This dive shop has the perfect notion for a place that is hours from the ocean.
They offer everything you need to dive in a quarry at prices that are a little high. But you can do just about any and all training here....if you can get past the staff arrogance.
Truly - if you are that great, you should not have to tell me so much. Also, apparently only the cool kids would appreciate the take it or leave it attitude when you are just getting started.
Ended up with another dive shop for OW and Advanced that doesn't have all the bells and whistles but sells items at a fair price and never tells me how superior they are in every way.

The property changed hands a few times and is now owned and operated by a real dive shop and all facilities and gear is 1st class. Ganesh is helpful and accommodating. Four training platforms with guide lines and some interesting things to see. Excellent controlled environment for check out dives and new divers. Thermocline at 20' means you better have at least a 3mil of you want to explore below that level. Prices can get high if you need to rent gear. Dive staff from the shop comes by on certain weekends to handout popsicles and grill hot dogs, which is a touch of fun and gets divers socializing with each other.
