Definitely worth a visit. Although it is as expected a bit pricey there is plenty to see. There is the main museum with plenty to see and interact with then included in the ticket price is access to the burns cottage and monument. Although the cottage is a 30 second see the grounds are nice with a lovely woodland walk and the walk between the museum and cottage “Poets Path” is nice.
The cafe and gift shop are expensive but that can be expected on national trust sites. Overall a great experience and worth a visit if you are in the area.

This was an excellent experience. The main museum building is well set out, the exhibition room was very interesting, interactive and user friendly. It gave a taste of the Burns experience and will encourage me to dig deeper into Burns's life and times.
The gift shop offers locally produced gifts and a good range of Burns related books
The cafe is airy clean with well spaced out tables and there is an large outside dining area. The menu is limited but offers some tasty dishes and caters for varied dietary requirements. Apart from the museum itself, there are a number of other sites to visit, including the Auld Kirk, the Burns Monument and Burns Cottage. We didn't have time to visit them all, but will certainly be making a return visit to do so.

museum was ok. but a bit dark and cold. The gardens, monument and Brig O Down Bridge were much better. Burns cottage was a bit dull. Could do a bit more with the Poets Path from Museum to the cottage. Not very exciting and not very well sign posted. Was worth 1 visit but not a 2nd . The Museum cafe was really a non starter ....

We had a great afternoon at this museum complex:
• The main museum, which lovingly preserves priceless delicate artefacts through careful conservation and low light conditions (which doesn’t affect the visitor experience whatsoever) is a cornucopia of key exhibits and surrounding trivia which will satisfy both the academic and the casual visitor. The staff were extremely knowledgable, helpful and friendly. After some chats we found out several are involved in Burns and connected C18th academic and Scots studies and are really happy to chat about it, which was really great and gave some really interesting extra perspectives ❤️😍

• We had lunch at the main museum. Soup of the day did me, macaroni cheese & garlic bread for my partner and we shared a cream tea. Lovely staff and delicious food.

• The Burns monument, gardens and Brig o’ Doon were atmospheric, well maintained and nicely presented. Top tip: climb the monument for excellent views and consider walking to the next bridge for selfies and a great view of the bridge.

• The Burns birthplace itself is a humble building with a carefully curated immersive display. It is recently thatched -note the skill! The surrounding small-holding gardens will, long-term, be an interesting addition.

Re: COVID19... NTS staff and visitors are doing a great job, are considerate and we felt perfectly safe. ❤️

I visited the museum on 6th September for £10 I was very disappointed in it. I felt it wasn’t worth the money. One it was that dark inside you couldn’t make out writing about things and also couldn’t take May photos as it being dark you had to use flash and the flash bounces off the glass and you don’t get good clear photos

This is an interesting museum complex in two locations. The original house is well preserved and shows what life would have been like in 18th century Scotland. A short distance away, through the statue park and near the Auld Kirk, is the modern interpretation museum. It is a wonderful facility with excellent exhibits detailing the life and times of Robert Burns. Additionally, there is a great gift shop and a large cafe serving delicious food and drinks.

Great location, very good cafe with nice grounds giving access to the famous Brig of Soon and the Burns monument. The museum had lots of good information but the lighting (obviously to protect the exhibits) I found too low...but that's probably my age. Good parking too
