Pretty gallery. They have a nice section of artist featuring various painting styles. Always worth stopping in. Provides a nice break from all the hustle and bustle of downtown shopping.

On the way back from Hard Truth distillery we stopped and visited this attraction. It is primarily local artist - with painting being the main stay. Some of painting are for sale and range from couple of $100 to one from a famous artist being $28,000. Primarily those for sale were landscapes and still life's. They highlighted some of the famous local artist and their wares - one being Bird illustrator, a Portraitist and Street scene. We enjoyed it even though wife wouldn't let me get the $28,000 painting. She said it would fit with our decor.

As the sing says 8 gallerys in one building. Has some of the best art I have ever seen. You can see great paintings great burning art work and much much more. You can make a romantic getaway there or even have a great experience with a school group. Great location not that very far from the school. Great parking perfect location . The staff was very friendly.

Brown County came to fame in the early-20th century as an artists colony. However, finding the examples of great art in the shops in town can be difficult. Fortunately, this facility has an incredible collection of both historic and contemporary artists.

Many of the artists are local or at least from the Indiana area. Many of the scenes are recognizable landmarks, and the short "blurbs" that describe the work make it a very worthwhile way to spend a couple of hours. It is a wonderful art gallery with many artworks priced very reasonably. You should give this place a try because i think you will be pleased at how pleasant the experience will be! Enjoy!

It was a very nice small gallery featuring local artists. I particularly enjoyed the artwork exhibit from the aspiring young artists from the area schools, there is a lot of talent in the coming generation. A wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon and learning more about Brown Counties history.

Brown County has been a mecca for artists since the turn of the 20th century, starting with that most famous of Brown County artists, T. C. Steele. Steele encouraged other artists to visit the area, but the remoteness of the area was a stumbling block until rail service became available in 1907. Once this hurdle had been removed, Adolph Shulz and his wife Ada followed Steele's advice, found that the area provided the "perfect painting ground," and soon setup their own studio, as did many other artists. In 1926, Shulz and a group of other area artists formed the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation, setting up their first gallery in a former grocery store. Although no longer in the old grocery store, it has remained in continuous operation over the intervening years, making it one of the oldest galleries in the country.
We recently visited the present gallery and found a fantastic permanent collection spanning the entire history of the Brown County art community. The collection includes a number of significant paintings by T. C. Steele and other area artists, including large collections of works by Glen Cooper Henshaw, woodcuts by Gustave Baumann, and bird paintings by William Zimmerman. Modern artists from the area, whose works are available for purchase, fill even more galleries. Photography is also well represented - even more so currently with a temporary exhibit of exceptional images by members Daguerre Club of Indiana celebrating their centennial.
In addition to the original art for sale, there is also a small gift shop with books on Brown county artists, their works, and the history of the art community here, along with prints, souvenirs, etc.
Overall, we spent about an hour here and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

For such a small, country town, I wasn't expecting this nice of an art gallery. What a pleasant surprise! Very spacious and clean. The day I visited, they were hosting the Indiana Uplands Wine Trail Winter Wine Market, and the place was packed. Check back for other events they host throughout the year. The only suggestion I have for any changes would be that I was hoping to see a nice display of photography and abstract art work. They may have these at other times and I may have just missed them this time around. Otherwise, the town of Nashville and the board and volunteers at the art gallery should be very proud of this venue.
