HumHum waterfall located in a deep raw forest. If one want to reach there he has to walk for almost 4 hours through the deep jungle, four 800 feet hills, water full with insects & leeches. The journey is very hard but at the end have a bath in the waterfall erase all tiredness.
The journey by the jungle is not suitable for old people, children and weak women I think.
when I returned I found more than 4 leeches in my body in various part.

When I have decided to go to hamham waterfall with my husband everyone, from the hotel staffs to the Cng driver discouraged us not to go there, but We didn’t pay heed to them ,decided to go there and enjoyed the whole journey a lot.if u r inexperienced in hiking like me,don’t bother, just listen to your heart.
••Things to remember ••
•Try to reach there in the morning as early as possible.
•Before starting hiking take bamboo stick from local people 10 bdt each.take a guide costs 300-500 bdt .
•on the way you will get no food or no toilet facilities.so use washroom if its needed, there is a public toilet,in the starting point.
•Use proper socks and shoes ,knee cap to avoid injuries .
•order food in the hamham restaurant before starting to the hamham, cause after returning you will be very hungry and you will get no food if you don’t order before.Try their “cha pata vorta”(smashed tea leaves)
•Take saline water or mineral water in your bag at least 2 Litre. Take dates , biscuits or other dry foods you like.
•Take towel & necessary cloths with you.keep in mind that there is no place for cloth changing in hamham.
•it takes 2 hours walking for going and 2 hours walk for returning.
•best time to go there is in rainy season but also riskiest.

We have started our journey at 7 am from hotel Skypark (we stayed). It took 2 hours to reach at Hum Hum place. Before start to walk we have taken some preparations... We have taken water & dates. Dates normally contains energy & sugar which helps to keep walk continuing.
It was 02 hours journey to reach the water fall and 02 hours to back.
Since, there are no food shop/restaurant near Hum Hum except Hum Hum restaurant. That’s why we had given lunch order before start. They cook food if get order. So, there will be very less chance to get food without ordering. Food was delicious. I must recommend “Cha Patar Vorta”. As per locals information it will help to get rid of body pain after walk.
Also Note: You May take Salam Chacha’s CNG. He is Middle Age person. His speciality is, he is Driver cum Local guide cum good photographer (DSLR/Mobile). I must recommend him. His contact number is +880 17 3738 4361

Nella foresta pluviale del parco Rjkandi c’è questa bella cascata che si butta in un laghetto. Da Sreemangal sono un paio d’ore di cammino per cui è un trekking abbastanza impegnativo con il caldo.

great place for young adventurers. take a bangladeshi guide before you start. the "pahari" guides are often drunk. i myself saw one who took a group of people and started acting up midway. so its better to avoid them. there are two paths leading to hamham. the hilly path and the water path. you can take one while going and the other while returning. the hilly path is shorter but the water path is much more beautiful. take saline with you. the best (and the riskiest) time to go to hamham is the rainy season. the you can see the waterfall at its full majesty. in winter the water dries up so its not the best time to go. it takes almost 2hours to reach the waterfall and another 2 hours to come back. so prepare yourself physically and mentally. aged people and people with low stamina are not encouraged to go.

Together with my two sons, one 11 years old another 8 years, my wife and I, we went for a day long trekking to Haam Haam Falls during the end of this July from Sreemangal..! Located in Moulvibazar district, this is very close to the Indian border, you have to go to Sreemangal from Dhaka by bus, train or private vehicle. And, there is no proper place for families at, or, around the Haam Haam water falls for night stay. So, it must be a day trip to and from this place. Though, few of my traveler and Cyclist friends took tents with them and camped during the night just outside of the forest.
This was a great journey this time to the falls, some places the path was muddy, some slippery, some places you had to cross small strings, galleys and canals..! You will have to climb up and down walking both the ways.. through a jungle trail. During rainy season, there would be leeches found on your feet few times, not big deal at all, however check often. Its an excellent trail to trek, so this is not at all only about the Water Falls..! A must to go place..!!!
As said earlier, in most/ usual cases it has to be a day trip. So, start from Sreemangal by 7:00/ 7:30 am, DO NOT START LATE...!!!
How to go to and from Sreemangal from Dhaka:
i) By bus: Hanif Poribahan (bus service) and Shyamoli Poribahan have bus to Sreemangal every hour all day long..! Ena has AC buses on in the morning and another in the afternoon (google for latest update). However, if would like to save hotel bills you may travel both ways during the nights. Bus starts from Sayedabad, each of the bus companies have their ticket counters for purchasing the ticket and waiting.
For AC Bus: it might take something like 700 or 800 taka one way, for non AC 450 taka..! Caution: If you have a weak heart please do not dare to go by Hanif, they drive like Nascar drivers..!
ii) By Train: All the train from Dhaka starts from Komlapur Rail Station, there is a train that starts in the morning and another at 9:30 pm in the evening. Train fare starts from 240 to 1,000 taka. However, the night train reaches Sreemangal as early as 2:30 am/ 3:00 am/ 3:30 am that is inconvenient for many reasons, accordingly choose day time train if you are wiling and enthusiast about train.
iii) By Cycle or private/ hired car: Its only 180 Km road trip from Dhaka, so no matter what you take its great journey. You may follow Dhaka to Sylhet Highway through Kulshi 300 feet road, Kanchanpur bridge, Maona, Sylhet highway..! Quality of Road is fine all the ways only need to be a bit more careful during Kanchanpur to Maona and Voirob to Bramhanbaria junction due to more traffic in these sections.
Hotel: Better you pre book a facility, there are cheap, budget and expensive hotel/ guest house and resorts in Sreemangal and areas around. Personally, I prefer mid level hotel with modest set up and preferred in a natural location. You may search the net and Trip Adviser for this. Don't forget ask for discount or special offers. I loved the Lemon Garden Resort, brand new place with good views, location and facilities.
Transport: From Sreemangal you may take CNG Auto Rickshaw for the whole day to go and come back with the same one. The Auto Rickshaw will wait for the whole day until you come back. You wont get anything from there on the way back, if you don't contract for the whole day. It will take 1,500 to 2,000 taka for the whole day. Nothing additional. You may take a Chander Gari (old 4 wheel jeep) it would go further than CNG upto Kolabon para.. and would be faster with 3,000 to 4,000 taka for the whole day. From Kolabon para.. it is around 4 Km trekking/ hiking..!
Food and Drinks: Take dry food and energy/ peanut/ chocolate bar, dry dates, water, Chanachur, chips/ fries.. with you..! As there wont be any shop both ways. You would get bottled water, packet snacks at the falls site. But be very care not litter but bring with foils and packs with you for the sake of environment.
Trekking Guide: At the entry gate of you would get some tea garden laborer and locals sitting, you would get a guide within 400 taka.. for the entire day.. till the end of the trip. Guides are good and reliable..! We had Bidhan as guide, you may also search for him.
Caution: Start as early as possible in the morning, don’t litter, prefer a Chander Gari (old jeep), take some dry food and water with you.
Have a Great Trip...!!!

my friend azam said "Some of the mates were very helpful at the time of trekking hills by offering dates, saline water, drinking water, etc. At the time of returning from Hamham waterfalls we were supposed to be very tired, but as a team we weren’t. After we had our lunch, whole team was singing. " so it was a hard journey but you will learn a lot from this types of journey

there are bigger waterfalls in Bangladesh but in terms of adventure n thrill i will rank it first..nearly 1.5-2.0 hr hike to reach to the waterfall..small tea shop and basic confectionery items are available..take preventive actions for leech...also one needs to hire a guide as it has become a policy by the local forest office
