An impressive site for Jainism, the temple is bursting with carvings — everywhere. Nearly 200,000. Foreigners must get the audio tape (no human guides allowed) and the recordings are good and understandable. It’s a 2 hour visit if you listen to everything. Decent toilets.

The architectural beauty is without any doubt praiseworthy. The reason I am giving it a single star is due to my personal experience at temple. My wife, who is Spanish citizen, and myself Indian went to visit temple. And as per usual Indian tourist tactics, they charged Rs 200 for her entry while mine was free. The worst part was after the temple entry, she was denied to go to sanctum sanctorum as the management don't allow foreigner's entry there. But Indians are allowed. When I asked them why is she not allowed even after we paid for her entry ticket, no one had any answer. The only response was that they were told to do so. Such a narrow minded and cheap management practice not only discredit all the hard work put in the construction of these beautiful temples but also defame the way we treat tourists here in India. I hope this Gujju management of the temples come to their senses and start putting in practice steps which not only help to uplift the glory of temple but also shows our "atithi devo bhavah" philosophy.

Unparalleled architecture and sculpture in marble and rocks. One must see this temple once in their lifetime. People say it's a copy of Dilwara temple in Mount Abu. But I liked this one better than Dilwara.

About 50 kms north of Bera is the village, Ranakpur most famous for its 15th century marble Jain Temple. The intricate carved main gate leads into an expanse area. The 1444 pillars hold up the roof with its intricate architectural style which change colours from white to golden as per the time of day. The temple has four different doorways all leading to the main chamber. There is calmness and peace surrounding the temple complex.

Ranakpur temples are around 600 year old Jain temples. We visited the temple during our udaipur trip. It is at a distance of 115 kms from Udaipur airport. As the last part of the journey is mountainous region, it may take more than 2 and half hour to reach the destination. Temple timings for visitors commence from 12 noon. So plan your trip accordingly.
Starting with the architecture, the temple has intricate carvings and a beautiful architecture with a unique design. It is one of best work of architecture in India and and would place it even above Tajmahal. The carvings in white stone are beautiful. It has more than 100 pillars and 80 domes. The design allows every part of the temple with ample sunlight throughout the day.
Secondly, the energy in the temple is very positive. One immediately gets a feeling of inner calm and peace upon entering the premise. We spent around an hour and I was not feeling like leaving the place.
The priest in the temple guides all the visitors through the premise. If you are interested in taking photographs inside the temple, one has to take tickets for the device, which is only 20 Rs.
This is a must visit place. Do include in the itinerary if you are visiting udaipur.

This temple is located at around 90 kms from Udaipur but is definitely worth a visit. The architecture is unique, it is a grand white marble structure and the interior is awesome with beautiful carvings on the marble pillars and none of the pillars are same. There are 1,444 pillars, 29 halls, 80 domes and 426 columns. You can easily spend a couple of hours here and photography is permitted.

Sorry I am not sure. It was busy before lunch so if you can time it when people go off to lunch it is a much more enjoyable experience. We were there until mid afternoon, maybe 4 pm. Really worth the effort to go there.

As pointed out. its 200 r for a tourist and extra for camera/mobile. Just be aware that you will be approached by a priest at some stage and they will ask for a contribution to perform a prayer for you.
