One of the stops of the Lewis and Clark expedition
sep. 2021
We had previously visited the Oregon terminus of the Lewis and Clark expedition (Ft. Clatsop), so it made sense to visit one near the beginning. Pretty much only of interest to history buffs. It’s a quick walk through if you’re interested. Not recommended

Interesting meeting place 😜

I wondered what it would actually look and pretty much the way it was described. It's fascinating to see two major rivers meet in one place and makes good for a trading post and to establish forts and transporting goods.

Best photo op for downtown
nov. 2020
A bit out of the way and hard to find. However, patience will be rewarded with the best views of the river and downtown Kansas City Missouri . Not a place that feels safe at dawn or dusk. And the good news is it’s free.....

... a bit difficult to locate in the industrial park ... but 1403 Fairfax Trafficway, Kansas City, KS 66115 it’s behind the Loomis building !
Off the parking lot are the names of the many indigenous tribes... the explanation panels had graffiti 😔 Went to check this historic park and it has a walk down by the rivers edge, it was interesting. There are stone memorials of several people... interesting stories (google the names!!) worth a day time visit.

Dangerous!

this place was really run down. There were people looking like they were waiting to do drug deals in the parking lot. The parking lot was totally run down with old buildings. The place is really hard to find and getting in you go through a weird one-way wall. The newer area of the park has been completely destroyed with graffiti. If you try to walk by the water it smells like sewage

Be warned, it's hard to find.
sep. 2019
The park provides a great view of Kansas City. As of late 2019, the sign is wrong. If heading South you see a sign on the right side of the road with a left arrow saying "Kaw Point Lewis and Clark Park" you missed the turn and are headed to the highway. The entrance is on Public Levee Road (there's a traffic light) and it looks like an industrial parking lot. The park is hidden behind the relatively new industrial buildings.

tricky to find
sep. 2019
This was really a great place. I was just passing through and had never walked on the Missouri. Lots of very good info about Lewis and Clark, Lovely park, small boat launch. Tricky to find with my gps, but once there found a lot of parking. Great view of Kansas City. This is where the Kansas and Missouri rivers join.

Best place to view the Blue Angels show if you're lucky!
jul. 2019
The Blue Angels aerial show had not been to KC in a while but lucky they did come in July, 2019. This is by far the best place to view the show as the downtown airport is just across the river & over the trees. A great view of our beautiful city, bring your own chairs & cooler and you'll see everything up close and beautiful.

The parking lot enjoys a great view of the River and Downtown Kansas City, MO. Restrooms are only open for events and no other services.

Small but beautiful
sep. 2018 • Alene
The Lewis & Clark Historic park at Kaw Point is well designed and has some nice amenities. The paved walking trail down by the river is in shade and leads to a nice sculpture of Lewis & Clark at the tip of Kaw Point (confluence of Kansas River and Missouri River). On the ridge where the parking lot is, there is a beautiful memorial for all the vanquished native Indian tribes. Quite a lot of historical information is displayed at this memorial. There is nice outdoor amphitheater with seats made of rocks and cement blocks. This could be a nice place for picnics or presentations.

The park has access to the Riverfront Heritage bike trail from the parking lot with a ramp over the highway. So one could visit this park while riding bike on the Riverfront trail. In summary, this park is worth spending a few hours.
