This tour was packed with information about the family that owned this plantation and historical event. Our guide was energetic throughout the entire presentation. We enjoyed the tour.

I felt Evergreen had a nice balance of slavery and mansion history. Our guide was very knowledgable and all staff friendly and helpful. The $2. water bottle was a fun souvenir!

My sister and I visited Evergreen plantation for a field trip assignment that I had for a U.S. History class. The guide was friendly and very knowledgable about the house, it’s history, the family as well as Louisiana culture and history. The house and family date back long before the Louisiana Purchase, so the story of slavery here will be a bit different as Louisiana followed European slave laws.
The house was surprisingly small on the inside but was absolutely beautiful! We were able to admire the front of the front of the house and buildings from the front yard. The oaks that lined the alleys were breathtaking, and the cypress trees around the property were humongous.
One thing that really stuck with me was the walk down the slave alley. It was surprisingly emotional and a walk I won’t soon forget.
Overall this was a very educational experience. I learned so much about not only this plantation and family, but also about Louisiana history; the culture, the people, the laws.

Literally landed at 10 and ran to rent a car and made it with ten minutes to spare for the 11:15 tour with Robin which was such an AMAZING way to start our NOLA trip. My boyfriend and I are OBSESSED with Django and had to make the trip out to this plantation. Robin was amazing, you can tell she loves what she does and her energy was so infectious we loved it. We both learned so much and are still talking about it. The photo doesn’t do justice to how GORGEOUS this property is.

The tour guide Robin was amazing. She knew a lot about the plantation and its history. She explained a lot about the difference between The LA Slave culture and the southern slave culture. It was very enlightening.

If you are in New Orleans and are interested in the history - heartily recommend a trip to this plantation. Wonderful grounds. House and cabins authentic and lovingly preserved. And the historian/guide Robin is an incredible font of stories and knowledge that bring the whole place alive.

I really enjoyed learning the history of the house and land, but also the history of the area as a whole, as it changed colonial governments before becoming part of America. I am sorry I do not remember our tour guide's name, but she is from the area, and that enthusiasm came across in her tour, keeping people engaged. I liked the house and slave cabins, and she pointed out everything that was original and what had been modified. I learned a lot on the tour!
I read the 1-star reviews as I was curious what people did not like, and I did not have that experience at all.

We visited Evergreen Plantation this morning with our 2 granddaughters. A beautiful, serene place. Our tour guide Alexia was knowledgeable and explained many things about the Plantation to us. We loved the house, gardens, and the beautiful walk to the slave cabins down slave alley. We had many opportunities for pictures. We truly loved learning the history of Plantation life in Louisiana, both for the Plantation owner and the slave. Steve Fisk, the Operations Manager was friendly and conversational. He made us feel like old friends. We very much enjoyed our time at this place and say if you have time for only one Plantation, do this one!! (Congratulations, Steve, on your new grandson!) My favorite motto is, "If I had known grands were so much fun, I would have had them 1st!!!) Life begins anew with grandchildren.

Visited Louisiana with friends for the hundredth time but this time we decided to visit the plantations and see another side to the story other than what you get just in NOLA. Robin was our guide and she was the most thorough and knowledgeable of any guide we’ve had at the multitude of plantations we visited. She gave the whole story, explained the Code Noir, and painted a realistic picture of what life was like for the enslaved at Evergreen. Highly recommend this tour over any other and specifically ask for Robin if possible.
