Carol prepped us well to endure the chilly temps yesterday morning. We arrived at the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME. with a gorgeous predawn sky. Within minutes the sun rose to warm us and made the experience all that much more incredible. Carol clearly explained how to navigate the rocks and seaweed to reach the small pools of water in the rocks. Once there, Carol shared her vast knowledge of each wonderful little sea creature that we found. She has great enthusiasm and makes the sea coast adventure so fun!

What a great start to the 2023 tidepooling season! Thanks for being so adventurous and braving the cold air and water temperatures. The gorgeous sunrise was a bonus!

When we took a trip to Maine, we couldn't have ever imagined having such an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience Tidepooling with Carol! It was so much fun to learn about all of the local creatures and habitats by the ocean. She was extremely prepared with water shoes for everyone, gear, and even a sheet with all the critters and species we saw to take home!
She made sure we were all safe and passionately answered our endless barrage of questions, lol. She taught us so much and we will be forever grateful!
If you are going to Maine, you can't miss out on Tidepooling with Carol! No matter if you have kids or not, I promise it's an experience of a lifetime!

Carol is so knowledgeable and generous. I am so glad we did this at the beginning of our trip so we were ready to check out other tidal pools on our own in Acadia. Definitely recommend!!!! We saw so many critters!

I’m glad to have prepped you on what was in store for Acadia tidepools. The intertidal region up there has such wonderful diversity. I hope you enjoyed yourselves up there.

Our experience with Carol was one of a kind. She was so knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a safe and informational experience. We were able to take advantage of a very low tide, occurring with a full moon, which allowed us to see so many different sea creatures, from snails to sea stars! My children (ages 11 & 8), as well as my husband and I, learned so many things about sea life that we will take with us for years to come. We all had so much fun- we highly recommend an adventure with Carol & Coast Encounters!

It was a magical day indeed with the super low tide associated with the full moon. You definitely chose the right day to book your adventure! I’m glad we were able to see the abundance of sea life. Your photos captured the excitement of the day for years to come!

This was our second season of tide pooling with Coastal Carol! It has been the highlight of our trips to the coast of Maine. Carol is so knowledgeable, she shows us the best wildlife and all the critters of the tide pool. This year we saw little lobsters, sea urchins, crabs, and even a SQUID!!! It was amazing. Safety is a top priority and Carol provides water shoes for each person on the expedition. We look forward to another trip with Carol next summer! Thank you for the experience and the education, have a great fall and winter!

What a magical tide-pooling experience with the incredibly knowledgeable and fun Coastal Carol. We explored many tide pools and found 4 baby sea stars, a sea urchin, shrimp, a variety of types of crabs - even a pregnant one, and so so so much more. I can’t imagine coming to this area of Maine and not having a “Coast Encounter!!!”

This was the highlight of our trip to Maine. Carol is extremely knowledgeable about the animals and plants in the tide pools and when and where to find them. We had adults and kids in our group and everyone had a blast finding all sorts of interesting creatures! Definitely a unique and memorable vacation experience.

What a great day! Coastal Carol's focus on safety and her ability to judge the level of capabilities of the group was very reassuring. She handed each of us our beach shoes before we drove to a beautiful area where we explored three different tide pools. I was the first to catch a small lobster in the nets she provides, and felt confident scooping it up because Carol had explained how to do it in a way that won't harm the critters. We all looked at it, and even learned how to tell if it is male or female. Then we caught and released many other critters like hermit crabs, limpets and we even found a pregnant green crab! We also learned about all the various seaweeds too. It was so wonderful to be in the tide pools of ocean water, learning how they provide shelter for young aquatic life that might not otherwise survive in the deep ocean. I didn't know that lobsters take 8 years to reach the size we eat them at! After exploring and sharing, Carol even had each of us catch a hermit crab and they raced one another...I picked a petite shell because it was so pretty, and the little hermit crab that had made it's home in that pretty shell didn't move the first race, which made us all laugh. But the second race, that little guy darted across the finish line leaving all the other crabs in the dust...we all had a good laugh as we headed back to our cars. Carol provided water, snacks and even prizes! It was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to my return trip to Maine and another Coast Encounter. Believe me, you won't regret signing up for this adventure, where you have fun learning about ocean life with a lovely, knowledgeable woman who has devoted her life to this important educational experience. Thanks Carol! See you next time!

We will be in Wells the last week of August and would like to bring our grandson with us on this tour. He love the outdoors as we do and we were hoping this would be a great thing for us to do together. Is he too young? What is the cost. Also, how should we dress for the tour.
