always a fun outing...we picked luscious peaches, blueberries and blackberries....all made for delicious pies...will re-visit again soon...

Great Blueberry Experience with kids

Went for the July blueberry picking with our two boys and then did their play area. Both of our kids loved it. Very well managed blueberry ice cream making, blueberry pie eating contest and tractor pull (not with blueberries).

Glad to see Millburn Orchards has brought their beautiful fresh peaches, blackberries, and apples at Havre De Grace’s farmers market. The long line to buy attests to the taste and quality of their fruit.

Apple Picking and Cider Donuts

We went to Milburn's for apple picking this September. This year you had to reserve your picking time online and pay a reservation/ticket fee per adult. I believe children under 10 were free. Once at the farm, we parked in the grassy lot and walked down to the picking entrance. Here we provided our tickets and were given the U-pick apple bag options. A small bag (2 people) was $17, a medium bag (4 people) was $28 and a large bag (6 people) was $46. They also sold kids sized bags for $5. So a family of four would be required to purchase a minimum of a medium bag at $28. It was averaged by Milburns to hold 25 apples or 10-12lbs, which was pretty accurate. Once we pre-paid for our bag, we boarded the wagon and took a tractor pulled ride down to the picking fields. Here they informed us of the varieties available for picking and where to locate them in the fields.

After picking, we rode the wagon back up to the entrance and departed the fields. We then decided to head over to the market to purchase some apple cider donuts, apple cider and produce.

Overall, we had a good time picking apples at Milburns. Staff were friendly and fields were clean. We enjoyed the tractor ride down to the fields as well. Note: the tractor rides were NOT socially distanced this season. Ticketing was required, but there did not appear to be limitations on the number of patrons admitted. Market is nice and had a good selection of baked goods and produce. Their apple cider donuts are pretty good. Cider seemed watered down this time. It tasted more like apple juice than cider, so that was a little disappointing. I would recommend and we will be back.

Note: In addition to the U-pick apples, they offer various U-pick fruits throughout the summer. They also have a BIG backyard for the kids to play in (fee) with a small petting zoo. During the fall, they offer fall festivities in the big backyard for an additional fee. They also have the Orchard Deck lunch counter and ice cream counter on location should you find yourself hungry or with a sweet tooth.

Fall day at Milbourn’s

Very nice day at Milbourn’s so much for kids to do and see. Their apple cider donuts are the best! You could spend the whole day there and not be board.

Great place for apple picking. The orchards are well maintained and the staff are friendly. The store are clean and again the staff are consistently helpful and always courteous.

Amazing playground!!!

If you have young kids, this place is for you. The playground is amazing! $3 to get in and there are so many activities, animals, and space to run while you sit in the shade. You can also eat lunch in the patio, shop in the store, or pick your own fruit.

Easter Egg Hunts 2021

We made online reservations for the Easter Egg Hunt at Milburns for the Monday after Easter. Upon arrival we parked in the grass lot adjacent to the farm. At the Big Backyard Entrance we showed our tickets and were admitted. They had Easter "basket" Buckets there that you could borrow for the egg hunts, but we had brought our own. Every half hour they held egg hunts in the field, rotating between 2 fields. They would toss out a TON of plastic Easter eggs and they kids would run out to find them. Once collected, the eggs are turned back into the farm. I did witness some employees spraying them with what appeared to be sanitizer of some sort. You could do as few or as many egg hunts as you wished. We did 2 egg hunt while we were there. We also visited with the Easter Bunny, who was present ALL day. We also checked out the Barnyard Buddies (goats, chicken, etc). You can purchase feed here out of gumball style machines for a quarter. We also played with the grain cart basketball games, the roller bowler game, tractor tire tower and the rolling tube racers. They also have a sand pit, playground and groundhog hill, but we didn't visit those today. Once we were done, we headed over to the prize tent to claim our prize. Each child with a ticket receives a prize. I think this is great so no child feels left out. Once claiming our prize, we visited the market for some fresh apple cider donuts! The Orchard Deck was open for lunch, but we skipped it.

Overall, we had a really good time at Milburns. We love that the Easter Egg Hunt is huge with tons of eggs & that the kids can do as many of them as they want! We also loved the improvements to the farm since our last visit: roller bowler, racing tubes, huge ping pong table and grain basketballs. Love that the Easter Bunny is present the entire day & available for photos. Apple Cider donuts are good and worth a stop in the market. I would recommend and we will be back.

Apple Picking during the Pandemic

We have been going to Milburns for years. We visit with the barnyard buddies, shop the market, visit with Santa, visit with the Easter Bunny/Egg Hunts and participate in the various pick-your-own activities. From time to time we have dined on the Orchard View lunch deck. We were worried how Covid-19 would affect our annual apple picking experience with the kids. We were worried it might get cancelled like so many other things in 2020. However, we were pleasantly suprised that Milburns was offering timed ticketing to participate in BOTH the apple picking/wagon ride and their Fall Harvest activities. They posted a schedule for the different variety of apples so you could choose the week based on the type apple you wanted to pick. For a small fee we reserved our online ticketing in advance for the wagon ride to the apple picking field. When we arrived we checked in at the field and we selected the size bag we wanted to pick for apples. This was NEW this year. In the past we were charge by the pound in the field after picking. This year there was a minimum for picking (one large bag for 5 people OR 1 small bag for 2 pickers) and you had to pre-pay for the size bag. We purchased one large bag and were admitted to the wagon holding area. Here we were spaced out on the wagon with 2 other families. Once at the field we had the option to pick red delicious, golden delicious, jonagold and bazooka gold. Once done filling our bag, we boarded the wagon back to the parking area. Note: There was a hand sanitizing station in the fields if you needed to use it.

After picking apples, we headed over to the market to get some apple cider donuts and apple cider. Their cider is still the best I have found anywhere locally. It is sweet and full of flavor. Apple cider donuts are good too. This year they were pre-packaged in the bags for grab&go (1/2 dozen, dozen, etc). This was a good idea to help cut down on germs and handling of tongs. While there we also purchased some seasonal acorn squash, produce and an out-of-this-world apple dumpling.

Staff in the fields were nice and welcoming. They kept things organized during these crazy times. Staff in the market is always super friendly and welcoming. Over the years we have gotten to know them by face...and in turn they have watched our kids grown up over the years. They always talk to our kids like they are family. It really makes us feel welcome there. Its nice to see a friendly face at the check out counter!

Overall, we had a nice visit with Milburns. This season's apple picking looked a little different in layout and pricing, but we liked the format. We liked NOT having to stand in line to weigh and pay when we were done. It was easy, simple and hassle-free. I would recommend and we will be back!
