We would stop here every summer on our way to Lake George to stretch our legs a bit. For the past few years it has been going down hill. After going there this summer 7/2021, it will be our last visit. The store has practically nothing in it, looked like a sad tag sale in there. There were no more chickens and no more home made anything. Everything is covered in dust and smells like a musty old basement. If it's your first time going in there then the owners signature look my make you think you just walked into a chainsaw massacre movie. Guy doesn't smile or even talk for that matter, wears a hard hat, suspenders and super thick glasses that magnifies his eyes in a creepy way. Very sad, we used to love stopping in there for their made to order giant egg sandwiches, now it's a poultry farm with no chickens or even eggs.

Andy greets you from behind the register with a gruff New England hello in his signature hard-hat. The taciturn exterior belies a kindness and friendliness that you might not expect, but it's there.
The food selection can is wide, and what they have is generally wonderful, especially their home-made breads and pies.
Good country people at a great country store.

Whenever I travel, I look for places that have sugar free items, since I am a diabetic. It has been impossible to find anything, until now!
I bought the most delicious apple pie as well as a blueberry pie, BOTH SUGAR FREE!!! I also got THE MOST AMAZING sugar free candy. Butter crunch, almond bark, and peanut butter cups. Because I know the pies are brought in fresh from a baker in the area. I know that that candy was handmade. My husband and I were eating it all the way back to Connecticut, an hour and a half drive.
This store is over 100 years old. You would never know that they have the items that they have. I believe that everybody should go to this store. You will be surprised and excited. It's like going back in time!!!
THEY HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY. TRY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!!

There are no chickens here. The eggs are brought in from out of state and so are the chicken pot pies. The place smelled and was dirty when we went there. The man in the hard hat didnt seem very personable. Didn't greet me at the door or ask if he could help me find anything. He was also rude to my young son. We won't be back.

"The Egg Farm is a quite the attraction. It offers locals the needed milk and eggs while providing tourists lots of junk-antiques and "stuff" ...the farm offers baked goods as well as meat.

Otis Egg Farm is a Berkshire landmark! So much charm and character, it almost feels like you are stepping back in time a few decades to a place where things were more simple and wholesome. The food is Amazing. I have been going to Otis Poultry Farm since I was a kid with my parents. Now I make it a point to take my friends and family who have never been there to share the experience.

It's a liquor store/farm food/ convenient store/ novelty store/ coffee place... it was weird. It still smells despite there no longer being chickens. I was curious and that's why we stopped in but it was very odd, and we kind of wanted to try a pie, but the cleanliness of the place advised against getting any food from there. It's a unique find and has potential to be something special.

This place has been around forever. Sadly all the chickens are gone and the place is now a unique collection of stuff. Still have great chicken pot pies!

A friend and I kept passing this place on sojourns to the Berkshires, so on the way to Troy today with my husband I opted to continue up Route 8 so I could finally check it out.
Reviews here are pretty spot on. It's unique in some aspects (especially for this part of the country) and stereotypical at the same time...a geegaw-proferring tourist trap but one that specializes in poultry products...chicken and turkey gravy, pot pies, eggs (including the wondrous "eggszamples", multicolored cartons of a dozen multicolored eggs from blue to speckled), fertilizer...as well as cheeses, snacks, candy (including some seriously spicy peanut brittle), baked goods and (as has been noted) an alcohol stockpile that seems a mite large for such a place.
There are some necessities for the serious Berkshire sportsman (fishing floats, the aforementioned alcohol) There is a kids' room with (mainly the now-ubiquitous Melissa & Doug) toys (kinda pricey) which seems to be kept stocked, along with the food. Everything else seems like it has been left over from a previous store era - a few of these mugs here, a few of those magnets there, a couple of these and those...including some tag-sale-type items along the sparse back walls.
There are a limited number (say, 2) of Otis souvenirs (really, did you expect more?), but quite a few Berkshire mementos. There is a small cart near the register (manned by the mysterious Hard Hat Guy - yes, he is there, and yes, he is wearing the hard hat still) that boasts "locally made items". These consist mainly of Connecticut-poured soy candles and scented sprays and some sort of kids' tub counting toy, but in this melange was a small clear box filled with newspaper and some sort of clear glass item. I opened it and found five handmade clear glass animals (the lion was the best!). It didn't say who made them nor anything about them, but I knew this was something I would never see/find again, probably not even here at the Poultry paradise, so I grabbed them. Wish I knew more about them (all I can say is that the newsprint in which they were nested was local...wish I knew more about the glassmaker).
I wish the cafe people wrote about was open, and I wish that the shop was able to return to its heydey as a True Trap, rather than a down-on-its-heels sort of place (with the For Sale sign still out front). I was there only fifteen minutes or so and in that time at least four other people came in - all locals, I think - so the place still does its business locally. But of course there aren't that many locals and it's off the beaten path now and so those who stop by aren't numerous enough to bring back those halcyon days.
I am looking forward to the pot pie (when I saw they had one that's all meat, no annoying carrots or peas! - I snapped that baby up in the largest size available). The sign says if you don't want frostbite to use a basket when purchasing the pies. Probably a good idea as these things must be frozen at near absolute zero - I put it in a hot/cold plastic bag I had in the car (one of the cheapy kind from the grocery store) and wrapped it, put it on the car floor as much in the shade as I could and there it sat in 75 degree heat and sun on the streets of Troy, NY and travelling back and forth to the CT shoreline (approximately 10 hours). It was still almost solidly frozen when I popped it in the fridge (only the edges had started to get soft). So I wouldn't fear the thawing reaper if you're concerned you are travelling a distance and fear you won't get this thing home in a frozen state.
If the pies (both sweet and savoury) are as good as advertised here, I would hope that maybe word of mouth could lure folks down from I-90 for a meal detour...'tain't that far...and restore those aforementioned halcyon days to a true Roadside Attraction.
